ARLINGTON, Texas - Arlington police are actively looking for a man who shot and killed his girlfriend while shooting celebratory gunfire.

The couple reportedly went into the yard to fire shots after midnight in the 1600 block of Connally Terrace.

The gun went off and a bullet hit 39-year-old Blanca Guerrain the head.

When officers arrived, they found the woman's body on the porch and the suspect gone.

Police later announced the arrest of Guerra's boyfriend. Mario Alanis has been charged with manslaughter.

New Year's celebration shootings in Arlington lead to deaths of 4-year-old boy, woman

Jan. 1—A 4-year-old boy and a 39-year-old woman were killed in two separate shootings by people who were carrying guns as they celebrated the end of 2020 just after midnight on New Year's Day, Arlington police said.

Police responded to a shooting call around 12:30 a.m Friday in the 1600 block of Connally Terrace, where they found Blanca Nelly Guerra dead on the back porch of her Arlington home. She was pronounced dead at 12:38 a.m on the scene.

Police said Guerra and her boyfriend, who has not been identified by name, went to her backyard to shoot guns to celebrate the New Year. Instead, the boyfriend's gun somehow went off and shot Guerra in the head, police said. The boyfriend then fled the scene.

Officers are searching for the man, and anyone with information should contact Arlington Detective Grant Gildon at 817-459-5691 or contact Tarrant County Crime Stoppers at 817-469-8477.

I don't feel sorry for the girlfriend. She willingly went outside to shoot off a gun not caring if it would harm anyone.
Luckily, she will no longer procreate.
