BENZIE COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- The Benzie County Sheriff’s Office released the names of the victims involved in a shooting Friday night in the Village of Elberta.
63-year-old Marilyn Schultz Freebold and her son, 27-year-old Robert James Freebold were declared dead at the scene, according to officials.
The other son, 20-year-old Malachi Andrew Maloney was transported to Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, but later passed away from his injuries.
The Sheriff’s Office said all three victims died of gunshot wounds.
Robert Michael Freebold Sr. remains in critical condition at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City as of Saturday night.
The shooting happened at a residence on Grand Avenue in Elberta, according to Undersheriff Gregory Hubers.
“There were at least two weapons located in the house in the general area of the three decedents and at least one of those weapons has been fired,” Hubers said.
The Sheriff’s Office said all bullets were contained inside the home and they do not believe there is a suspect at large.
"We are unsure of that right now we're hoping the interview with the patient at Munson or the MSP lab work can help us determine some of that information,” Hubers said.
The Undersheriff said they have been called to the home in the past but not for any major issues.
The Sheriff's Office said they do not know if drugs or alcohol were a factor and they're still waiting on autopsy results.
