Wildlife expert poses as elderly woman to trap aggressive turkey

    https://nypost.com/2020/10/25/wildli...essive-turkey/

You don't want this bird at your Thanksgiving table.

A notoriously 'fowl' turkey spent months attacking people in the Bay Area before it was finally captured last week ' by a wildlife expert posing as an elderly woman.

Nicknamed Gerald, the belligerent bird ruffled the feathers of Oakland residents for about five months, pouncing on visitors to the neighborhood's Morcom Rose Garden, local outlet KGO-TV reported.

Officials were forced to close the park in June, out of concern for public safety.

Oakland Animal Services said it had received dozens of complaints about the aggressive gobbler ' whose favorite target seemed to be older women.

Residents described the turkey charging at them, jumping on them and clawing and pecking incessantly as they tried to run away, the outlet reported.

Gerald was finally caught last Thursday by Rebecca Dmytryk, director of Wildlife Emergency Services, who disguised herself as a frail, elderly woman and baited the bird with blueberries, kibble and sunflower seeds.

When Gerald predictably charged at her, Dmytryk said she 'scruffed' the turkey ' grabbing him by the neck in a way that doesn't hurt the bird.

He was then released onto wild land near Orinda, the report said.

Turkeys really aren’t a joke, specially if those claws (talons?) come into play. But this is a cute story and pretty funny they named him Gerald

Ive scruffed my share of animals, but didn't know you could scruff a bird.

I wonder what will happen to Gerald. He probably can't be around other turkeys, and he can't be around people so...
