Police were called to the scene near Kroger at about 1:15 a.m., where they found two shooting victims. One of them ? a man identified by the Jefferson County Coroner's Office as 47-year-old Marvin McAtee ? died at the scene. The other victim was hospitalized and is expected to survive. That person has not been identified.

According to Metro Councilman-elect Jecorey Arthur, Marvin McAtee is the nephew of David McAtee, who was shot and killed just a few feet away more than three months ago.

Anyone with any information on the identity of the person of interest shown in the surveillance images is asked to call the police anonymous tip line at 502-574-LMPD.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. ?

Marvin McAtee was a grandfather, father, brother and a loving friend. The 47-year-old was the latest victim to gun violence in the city.

LMPD says the double shooting happened here at 26th and Broadway, near Dino's Food Mart.

"It's a great loss to the community as a whole," said Will Pitts, a close family friend. "It took a big chunk out of the heartbeat right here in this community."

McAtee was one of four homicides in less than four hours in the city over the weekend. Friday night, three people were shot and killed in the Hillview area at Bungalow Joe's Bar and Grill.

"Even with the pandemic going on and we're supposed to be staying in and being distant, it's the year we have the most murders," said Pitts.

As of Sunday evening, the city of Louisville has seen 121 homicides, a grim record. David McAtee ? a business owner and Marvin's uncle was shot and killed at his business back in June by a member of the national guard as they assisted LMPD in breaking up a crowd near the BBQ stand.

"When Marvin showed up, it was a like a bright light. He kept the memory alive; he kept the vibe going every day in honor of his uncle," said Pitts.

After YaYa's (David McAtee's) death shocked the West Louisville community, Marvin McAtee wanted to follow behind his uncle's footsteps and giving back to those in the community.

"He didn't have to do it; he could have let the memory die but Marvin had a big heart," Pitts tells WLKY.

And it's that same heart and presence Pitt says will leave a lasting impact at 26th and Broadway.

"To lose him in the way that we lost him, it's going to forever be devastating," said Pitts.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - The nephew of David McAtee, the owner of YaYa?s BBQ Shack on 26th and Broadway that was shot and killed back in June, died in a shooting reported early Saturday morning, family said.

Family said that Marvin McAtee was one of the victims in the West Louisville shooting early Saturday morning in the 2600 block of West Broadway.

LMPD officers confirmed they found two men at the scene suffering from gunshot wounds around 1 a.m. One was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other was transported to University Hospital and is expected to be OK.

Family reached out to WAVE 3 News to confirm the victim who died was Marvin. Family and friends also posted on Marvin?s Facebook page sending thoughts and condolences.

Councilman-elect Jecorey Arthur shared the information on his Facebook page Saturday afternoon.

Marvin?s death on 26th and Broadway is the same location David McAtee was shot and killed more than three months ago after LMPD and National Guard members were called to disperse a crowd.

A state investigation revealed McAtee fired two shots in the direction of law enforcement. LMPD officers and Kentucky National Guardsmen returned fire, investigation revealed.

Secretary of the Executive Cabinet J. Michael Brown said McAtee was struck once by a bullet that came from one of the guardsmen?s rifles.

Marvin McAtee previously spoke with WAVE 3 News back in July as he had continued running YaYa?s BBQ Shack following his uncle?s death, saying he planned to use the parking lot adjacent to the restaurant as a community space.

WAVE 3 News drove by YaYa?s BBQ Shack Saturday evening, as the community began setting up a memorial space in honor of Marvin McAtee.

The Fallout gets crazier and not shocking if Louisville will fall apart because of all of this like the rest of the USA is dealing with today. This is why Louisville and to a certain extent the rest of the USA will not stop the protests until all victims (George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, David McAtee , Marvin McAtee and more from all over the USA) have a sense of closure.
