A New Hampshire couple has been arrested in the shooting death of man whose body was found earlier in the week.

Attorney General Gordon MacDonald said that Armando Barron, 30, of Jaffrey was arrested Friday and charged with capital murder in the shooting death of Jonathan Amerault, 25, of Keene. Barron is accused of luring Amerault to Annette Wayside Park in Rindge, New Hampshire, between September 19 and September 20.

Barron?s wife, Britany, 31, was arrested Thursday and charged with three counts of falsifying physical evidence in connection with Amerault?s murder.

Amerault?s body was discovered in Atkinson and Gilmanton Academy Grant in Coos County on Tuesday after he had been reported missing on Sept. 21. An autopsy determined he had been shot in the head and the manner of death was homicide.

A number for the couple had been disconnected and it was unclear if they had a lawyer.

After he murdered his wife’s lover, Armando Barron ordered Britany Barron to cut off the head of Jonathan Amerault and bury it at a remote campsite in the Northwoods, according to police.

Now, both Armando Barron, 30, and Britany Barron, 31, are facing charges for their respective roles in Amerault’s killing. Armando Barron was arrested and charged Thursday with assaulting Britany Barron in connection with the murder investigation, according to an affidavit filed in Cheshire Superior Court.

Armando Barron allegedly discovered that Britany Barron was having an affair with Amerault, 25, from Keene, and then used her cell phone on Saturday to lure Amerault to Annette Wayside Park in Rindge. Britany Barron told police that her husband had savagely beat her after discovering her affair with Amerault, at one point during the assault he put a loaded pistol in her mouth.

At Annette Wayside Park, Armando Barron violently assaulted Amerault and tried to force his wife to shoot him, even putting the gun in her hands and wrapping his hand over hers, according to the police affidavit written by New Hampshire State Police Detective Stephen Sloper.

After Armando Barron tried and failed to get Britany Barron to step on Amerault’s neck, he forced her to cut her lovers’ wrists, according to Sloper. Armando Barron then shot Amerault three times.

The couple drove up to the Errol campground with Britany Barron being forced to drive Amerault’s Subaru up to the woods. There, she was forced to cut off Amerault’s head with a saw, and bury it in the woods. Amerault’s body was wrapped in a tarp and buried near a brook, and his car was covered with a tarp, according to Sloper’s affidavit.

Amerault failed to show up for work on Monday, and his mother had reported him missing to Keene police, according to New Hampshire State Police Detective Matthew Anderson’s affidavit.

Police contacted Teleflex Medical in Jaffrey where Amerault worked and learned he did not call out, but that his co-worker, Britany Barron was also out of work. Teleflex employees told police Britany Barron called to say she would not be at work and was likely quitting her job. Employees also told police they believed Britany Barron and Amerault were in a relationship.

Police contacted Armando Barron and he told detectives that he was despondent over the breakup of his marriage. He told detectives he last saw his wife Saturday night when he dropped her off at the side of the road in Temple so that she could go camping with friends. He then drove to Errol in Coos County, a three and a half-hour drive, and then returned home, he told police.

Anderson writes that police used cell phone signal data to locate Britany Barron. Her phone was last connected to a cell tower in Errol, and New Hampshire Fish and Game conservation officers found her at a campsite in the woods in Atkinson and Gilmanton Academy Grant.

Police say Britany Barron was alone at the campsite and armed. Near her was a large object covered by a tarp and covered with sticks and branches.

“I’m in big trouble,” she reportedly said to the officers.

The conservation officers report seen blood run out of the bound tarp covering Amerault’s headless body.

Britany Barron told police that she burned Amerault’s belongings and wiped down his car and was waiting for her husband to return. He was heading up to the campsite with their 9-year-old daughter and dirt and concrete, according to Sloper’s affidavit.

He was stopped and arrested in Coos County, though the affidavit is not exact, stating he was arrested in the State Police Troop F jurisdiction.

Anderson’s report indicates that police found Armando Barron’s car left in a Jaffrey parking lot and that there were visible red, brown stains inside.

Wife of New Hampshire man accused of murder testifies he killed her coworker

A woman who admitted she helped dispose of her slain co-worker's body testified Wednesday that her husband was the killer.

Armando Barron is charged with first-degree murder in the 2020 death of Jonathan Amerault, 25. Britany Barron has admitted she decapitated Amerault, saying her husband ordered her to and she feared for her life.

Prosecutors said Armando Barron became incensed when he discovered text messages between his wife and Amerault. The state alleges that he lured Amerault to his death by sending text messages pretending to be Britany Barron.

In tear-filled testimony, Britany Barron described a relentless assault when Amerault arrived, saying her husband kicked him and stomped on his face. She said her husband forced her to join in, urging her to, "Kill him. Shoot him. Do it."

"I said, 'No. I'm not going to kill him. I can't,'" Britany Barron said.

She testified that he then ordered her to stand on Amerault's throat.

"I could hear Jon struggling to breathe," she said.

Britany Barron said Amerault begged for his life and hers, promising to never talk or see her again. She said Armando Barron was undeterred.

"He's like, 'Look at her. Do you still think she's pretty? So you still think she's pretty?'" Britany Barron said. "Jon looked at me. He said, 'Yeah, I do.'"

She said her husband forced Amerault into the hatchback of his own car. She testified that his last words were, "I thought you were going to let me live," before Armando Barron shot him three times, saying, "I guess that makes both of us liars."

Cross-examination started late Wednesday afternoon and quickly became intense, with the defense showing the jury graphic photographs of Amerault's injuries that were caused by Britany Barron.

When asked by the prosecution how she would like to be addressed, Britany Barron said she wants to be referred to by her maiden name, Ms. Mitchell.

It seems somewhat obvious that this was a case of a wife being abused by her husband and taking part out of fear for her life. Why is she being charged if that's the case? They don't charge women who have been kidnapped that then lure other girls in for the kidnapper under the kidnapper's demands for them to do so.

ETA: These are their mug shots after the incident. It's obvious that she was just as much a victim here.

Man convicted of 1st-degree murder in beheading case

A jury on Thursday convicted a New Hampshire man of first-degree murder for killing his wife?s coworker after he discovered they were texting, and then forcing her to behead him.

Armando Barron, 32, faces a life sentence without parole. He also was convicted of assaulting his wife, Britany Barron, the night he discovered she had been texting with her coworker, 25-year-old Jonathan Amerault. Prosecutors said he used her cellphone to lure him to a park just north of the Massachusetts state line in September 2020. Barron also was convicted of beating and kicking Amerault, forcing him into his own car and shooting him.

Amerault's mother was in the courtroom and started crying as the verdict was read. The jury had the case for a little under two hours.

?The defendant had all the motive to kill Jonathan, because for him, Jonathan was a man who had just started seeing his wife,? prosecutor Benjamin Agati said during closing arguments. ?A man who his wife thought looked like an Abercrombie model, a man who was at her workplace that he now knew was talking to his wife behind his back. The man that he instantly saw as a rival.?

In closing arguments, Barron's lawyer said Britany's testimony was contradicted by physical evidence and she had a motive to lie, while a prosecutor said she told the truth and had feared for her life.

Barron had pleaded not guilty to the charges. His lawyers argue that his wife shot Amerault, which she denies.

His lawyer, Meredith Lugo, said the ?primary example? of Britany's testimony not being supported by the evidence was her description of how Armando shot that last bullet in the hatchback vehicle. She said he was turned around in the passenger's seat, with Amerault in the back and his head up against the door of the hatchback.

Lugo said the shot couldn't have been inflicted that way, noting that the state's chief medical examiner testified the bullet was fired at close range.

?If Britany isn't being honest with you about that, what else isn't she telling you?? Lugo said.

Agati said that Amerault died trying to save himself, moving toward Armando as the shot was fired. He had tried to protect himself when a prior bullet went through his arm and had other defensive wounds on his arms and hands. His feet were close to a machete that was on the floor, and to the car door handles.

?To believe that during that shooting that Jonathan just sat there is not reasonable,? Agati said.

Britany, 33, testified that after Amerault was shot, she was forced to drive the car 200 miles (322 kilometers) north to a remote campsite, with Armando driving right behind her and talking to her on the phone most of the way. There, she said, she was forced to behead Amerault. Her husband eventually left her at the site, telling her to dispose of the body, she testified.

Lugo said Britany is ?very capable of lying when she wants to,? noting that when she was approached at the campsite by state Fish and Game Department officers, she told them she was there ?clearing her head? following a fight with a girlfriend at a party.

Eventually, the officers noticed something covered by a tarp that turned out to be Amerault's car. She was detained and brought to police.

?But of course she cooperated at that point,? Lugo said. ?She had a story she was selling and she needed them to believe it,? framing herself as the victim.

Agati said the balance that Britany must have had to make, ?believing that her own life was forfeit, juxtaposed with her need to get back home to the girls that she had almost literally been dragged away from, the relationship she had been in for 14 years of marriage,? should be considered by the jurors.

Britany Barron pleaded guilty last year to three counts of falsifying evidence and was released from jail on parole last month.

    This right here:

He had her daughter. I guarantee you that in addition to beating the fuck out of her that he threatened to kill the daughter if she didn't comply. I'm glad that they let her go. It's obvious what happened here and she was just as much a victim.
