    A GoFundMe mentions addiction: https://www.gofundme.com/f/in-memory...dium=copy_link

    So does this post:

Miles and Derek Sauvageau who work tirelessly at The Last House lost their little brother recently. He was struggling with addiction.
If you can, any contribution to their family would be greatly appreciated.

Damn. Maybe nodded off and rolled in to the water? I'm trying to think of where there's a riverbed around here. We have the ocean, lakes and ponds. Riverbeds not so much unless you count the concrete waterway they call the "LA River" which has zero water in it right now.

Who says he drowned in open water? Bathtub, maybe? That's how Whitney Houston died if I remember correctly.

It says place of death is a riverbed.

That's what I initially thought too, but like RBW mentioned, it specifically says he died at a riverbed.

ETA: So, there's not many rivers but there's plenty of creeks. None of these are close to Los Angeles. Except for the one I mentioned and Arroyo which I walk around everyday and is also empty since its concrete like the LA River. These are all in LA County though so I assume would be assigned to the LA Coroner.

My guess would be perhaps he was homeless and living by a creek somewhere. I can't see a heroin addict going hiking to enjoy the wilderness then shooting up, but then again stranger things have happened.
