Elizabeth 'Liz' Barraza (29) was shot in her driveway early in the morning while setting up a garage sale

Elizabeth Barraza, 29, was shot multiple times at point-blank range, while standing in the driveway of her home in the 8600 block of Cedar Walk Drive around 7:30 a.m. on Jan. 25.

Surveillance video captures the moment someone walked up to Barraza as she was setting up for a garage sale and shot her four times.

The shooter then turns and runs off to a black truck and drives away.

During a press conference Wednesday morning, authorities said they believe the truck is an older model, four-door, Nissan Frontier. It may have some type of badge or tag number in the rear quarter panel near the tailgate.

No arrests have been made. Investigators still can't say if the shooter is a man or a woman.

The surveillance video also shows Barraza's husband leaving the home around 6:48 a.m. and the shooter's truck pulling up at 6:52 a.m.

Authorities say the Barrazas didn't publicize the garage sale and only put up signs about it that morning.

According to her father, Robert Nuelle, Barraza was trying to sell a few items to make extra spending money for her fifth wedding anniversary trip. She and her husband had planned to leave that Sunday, two days after she was killed.

"A coward forever changed our lives (and) shot an unarmed and defenseless woman," Nuelle said. "The murderer needs to pay for their actions. We believe someone can help guide law enforcement. Please come forward."

The results of a warrant could soon expose the suspect that killed a Tomball woman as she was setting up for a garage sale.

One year ago, Liz Barraza was preparing to hold a garage sale to raise money for their fifth wedding anniversary trip.

Before the sale ever started in northwest Harris County, she was gunned down in her driveway. A person recorded on surveillance video approached Liz, then fired a gun and left in a dark pickup truck.

On Sunday, her family and friends gathered to remember the woman described as "good, kind and joyful," by her grieving husband.

"It was the worst day in my life," Sergio Barraza said. "It was the worst news you could possibly get. We should be talking about planning our next anniversary trip. We should still be together."

From the start, detectives didn't believe the shooting was random, and her father agrees.

"The shock and horror of it makes no sense," Liz's dad, Robert Nuelle said. "We know it's not random. So the family waits, and when we learn who did it, we may learn why, but the why will never make sense."

At a park in Tomball, more than 100 people attended an event marking the one year anniversary of Liz's death. A tree with a memorial marker was planted earlier in memory of her. She and her husband were part of a national group called the 501st legion, who join in Star Wars cosplay.

She loved fantasy, attended comicon conventions with Sergio, and was known for her kindness and generosity. She was an organ donor, so parts of her live on in other people.

The question haunting her family is who did it?

On Sunday, Harris County homicide detective Michael Richie hinted at "something coming down the pike" in the case. He said there is now a warrant in the case, stating, "I feel that the results of that warrant will be critical in the investigation and most likely will expose a suspect and who's responsible for this."

Sergio sold the home where he and his late wife lived for several years.

"There's a new family in it, and I want to see it be a place of love, and kids and good memories for them, instead of what happened there."

To the crowd gathered in honor of Liz, he said, "the person who did this didn't take her spirit and her voice away. She had a voice before, but now it's a roar. The spirit she had is still guiding everybody to do good, and there's more good out there than evil."

An endowment in her memory has been set up at the Make-A-Wish Foundation by the late actor, Peter Mayhew, who played the role of Chewbacca in Star Wars. A friend is also raising money to buy Harry Potter books to donate to hospitals for young patients. Each book will have a bookplate telling the reader it's in honor of Liz Barraza.

A $20,000 reward is still being offered for information leading to her killer's arrest. Anyone with information can contact Houston Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.

Anyone else think the shooter in the video looks/walks like a woman, or a man dressed as a woman? And when the suspect approaches the victim, she jumps back as if startled or surprised to see.... what? Someone she knows? Someone she knows in disguise? A man dressed as a woman? Or was that when she saw the gun?

You are talking to a woman who has laughed in the face of death, sneered at doom and chuckled at catastrophe.

It looks like a woman to me. I wonder how long they had been married (too lazy to go look right now) and if this could have been an old GF, or if he could have been having an affair and this was the mistress?

They'd been married for five years, the garage sale was to raise money for their fifth anniversary trip.

I suspect the husband because it's usually the husband. I'm researching missing persons cases, and it's crazy how many women are reported missing by their husbands who claim their wife went for a walk to clear their head after an argument and never came back.

Yeah, the husband is somehow involved either by relation to who did it or involved in it directly. I'm thinking he might have been having an affair. It's too convenient that he had just left the house moments before it happened.

    Me either.

I am definitely leaning towards the husband either doing it or being involved.

That's definitely a woman walking up I think, with like a billowy robe or cardigan or something? I'm thinking a mistress or something too, someone familiar with the husband's schedule....

I never try anything, I just do it. Wanna try me?

I think it looks like a woman as well. I used to think the husband had some involvement but looking at his fb he seems to have really loved her and keeps her murder in the spotlight. Of course that doesn?t mean he?s innocent but I just don?t get a murder vibe from him.
