SAN ANTONIO ' A family is mourning the loss of a 27-year-old husband and father, who was killed doing his job.
'He was the silliest person in the world,' said Kassandra Gomez, Andrew's wife.
Andrew Gomez was gunned down while repossessing tires at a home on the East Side Saturday.
'He touched so many hearts and so many lives, in so many different way,' said Anthony Gomez, one of Andrew's brothers. 'At the end of the day, it's not just his life that he affected, it's all of our lives.'
Andrew was the youngest of three brothers.
'It was a senseless act and my brother deserved a lot more,' said Timothy Ray Gomez, Andrew's brother.
Andrew also left his two children, ages seven and four behind, along with his wife, Kassandra, who he'd been with since he was 16.
'We were going to grow old, put each other in a home,' said Kassandra.
Family members said they're now choosing to remember 'Drew' for his kindness and his willingness to listen and to help others.
'Drew was the little brother, but he was really the big brother,' said Timothy.
Now, 26-year-old Richard Alexander Vallejo is in jail, facing a first-degree murder charge, accused of killing Andrew.
Andrew's family said the positive and motivational man they lost, won't let them hate.
'I know if Drew was here, you know, he would forgive him,' said Timothy. 'He wouldn't hold grudges.'
'God took a great one,' said Kassandra. 'He made this world a better place.'
The Gomez family has set up a GoFundMe account and is holding a plate sale on Sunday, June 28 from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Somerset Multi-Purpose Center on K Street.
