If I was a volunteer at a zoo I would totally try to steal a monkey.  That's completely different though.

its much deeper then that cap..its about people suffering and the economic downfall of our nation. Its about the rich taking from the poor....its about people caring about humanity....

    and yes were are

Actually, for me, it was more the fact that they had excess and not the drink she took...i will stop
    [/quote]

I can't help that we get an excess of certain things. What am I supposed to do about that? I'm not walking over to women and taking food, drink, clothing, or anything out of their hands, or the hands of their children. We have an extended network of other shelters that we share donations with, but if they can't take what we offer them, we refuse to just toss it. Unfortunately, we don't get enough monetary donations to ship our excess to other places -- I'm sure we'd do so if we had a better money flow, but it's not possible for us to do that, either.

And I wasn't being cocky, I was actually being serious. Sometimes things happen that people don't want to believe is possible. We do not live in a poor area, and our shelter is not run in a poor area. As I stated, we're very lucky. We've hardly even been in want at our shelter, and at times when we've experienced need for groceries or other goods, the community has really stepped up to help us out. It's actually great seeing the amount of things that people bring to us. I'm sorry it can't be that way for other shelters, and I'm sorry that we can't get rid of every scrap of extras that we have.

i don't think anything about it. there's other things in this country that i care about. taking a drink from a shelter...it's not going to keep me up at night.

I gave a homeless guy a cup of coffee and fixed his radio for him.
He peed on the chair outside and I had to clean it up.

    Thank you, kind sir.

LOL. Yes, I've done some things that were unacceptable, I guess -- but only cuz I did it. That's a dumb thing that annoys me. It also annoys me that my feelings get hurt over a stupid MDS thread, and that I think people like to act like they know more than I do. But I'll get over it after a bit. I just have to remind myself that it's only the internet.

I understand where you're coming from. I've volunteered at shelters before too and there's just no where else to bring the stuff after you've used up all of your options. It happens. Not every shelter or area is going to have those circumstances and it's unfortunate that shelters don't always have the funds to ship that stuff. Don't get bent out of shape.

I'm not trying to get bent out of shape, and I apologize if I seem(ed) bitchy. What you said is exactly the point I'm trying to get across. And I can't personally help it, unfortunately. I wish I could, but I don't make that much money. I just don't like feeling insulted over things that I can't really change, like I am personally responsible for American homelessness and hunger or something. :|
