It sounds like your "friend" has some issues that she's found she can take out on you, because you're trying to better yourself and she, well, probably isn't strong enough to personally do so. Continue standing up for yourself, because you deserve much more than that kind of treatment -- particularly from someone who has claimed that they're your friend.

I used to bring my Great Dane to work, but he'd just lay there in my office and be awesome. I miss that big lug... Anyway, my puppy gets to come to work sometimes, but he's really well-behaved and everyone loves him. Even when he was tiny, he'd just sleep for hours in his crate. However, one of my co-worker has two Border Collies that she has brought to work before that run back and forth from the offices to the door... and then she can't concentrate on her damn work, which means I have to pick up her slack. It's turrible!!
