I've caught myself doing that a few times since I quit smoking. Maybe she is a new non-smoker and was having a particularly bad craving. I usually only chew when I'm alone so I probably haven't annoyed anyone.

People who call but don't leave messages. I noticed today on my caller ID that I had two calls from my daughter's school last night. There was no school today. The secretary was there but nobody else and at first said she had no idea who it was who called. After I told her the times she said oh yeah that was probably blah blah blah about blah blah blah.

But I'm a worrier. Had she not known who it was and what it was about, I would have spent the whole weekend working myself into a fit over what this call may have been about. In this day of caller ID they should know better than to call and not let the callee know WTF they are calling about.

I hate it when people who call me all the fucking time leave me voicemails saying the exact same thing every time. I've stopped checking my voicemails because of it, and now if I ever get an important one or from a number I don't know, I have to fish through all the "hey hun, call me bye"'s and the "hey sweetie, call me bye"'s..... I'm tempted to be a bitch on my voicemail message and say "ONLY LEAVE A MESSAGE IF IT IS IMPORTANT, WITH DETAILED INFORMATION."

So annoying.

I can't agree with you more.  I hate when people leave me voicemails.  I'm obligated to take the 30 seconds out of my life to hear them drone on about some nonsense.  I have a call log, I see you called, leave me alone.

My biggest problem is that I hate them so much that I let them add up for weeks at a time, and then I'll get a message from someone -- like the doctor, or my adviser -- that I really have to listen to, and I've literally got to get through 25 messages to get to that point.  It makes me want to punch some people in the throat.

Okay, so when I first wrote this post it said when people except family don't leave messages then I decided to make it easy and just put people. But since you all brought it up, here's the deal.

I also hate talking on the phone. I hate voice mails on my cell phone so much I rarely listen to them. They are too much of a pain to get. On my home phone I usually listen because it's easier. But I can look at my caller ID and see that my family called so no message is necessary unless it's important.

I have no friends who call me. I'm pretty isolative in real life and have nobody who calls me except family, so that's not an issue.

What I really should have said, when a place of business calls me, they should leave a god damned message. A couple of reasons. One is as I stated, I fret and worry about WTF these people want with me. The second is in most cases when I call them back and say their number was on my caller ID they have no fucking clue who called or for what reason and there are enough people who work there that they really can't find out. It's rude, inconsiderate and it pisses me off.

Better?  :-)
