It's good to hear someone else admit that it's about 1 good owner, to 5 bad ones. I agree completely. Most of the bad ones actually think they are "good owners" simply because they love their dogs a lot. They don't realize that true love is taking care of the animal in all respects. Not to mention, being a good dog owner is also about be responsible and considerate of other people who may be effected by your dog.
A quick tip on how to tell if you are a good owner or not: If you look out in your back yard and you see a bunch of white turds everywhere, you are a bad owner.

But in order for satire to work, the listener needs to be smart enough to realize it's satire. You could probably have Rush Limbaugh read "A Modest Proposal" and his Ditto Heads would immediately start spouting off the economic responsibility of raising babies for food.

I won't lock them up for uninvited guests though and I don't call them off if they decide to jump. Putting them out or locking them up is for invited guests only.

My grams and aunt always criticize us for disciplining our dogs. The dogs are only allowed on the couch when invited and they are never allowed in the kitchen. Plus tons of other rules. Aunt and Grams think dogs "deserve to be spoiled." And their dogs are assholes.
My dogs are disciplined, but they still each have annoying traits which is why I don't take them everywhere. I don't get the no leash people. It's not fair to people who have fear attacks (like me). Now I sound like those mom's who consider themselves the exception, "Well, I'm a good parent."
I respect people who aren't into dogs. I don't dig kids which is even rarer and nobody respects that. There are lots and lots of people who don't dig companion animals.
