When my brother was housesitting when we were in Vegas he didn't change the litter as often as I told him to and Georgie peed on his clothes Just in his bag, nowhere else.

Ugh. Mini obsessively grooms, and she has a thick double coat. Added to that, she has congestive heart failure which means she barfs wayyyyy too much. Since she's been on meds she's gotten better though. It was a friggin nightmare before, we were constantly cleaning the carpets.

so there is a movement to ban the class superlatives, like "mostly to succeed" because 1/3 of the people voted "most likely to succeed" see it as a curse and feel too much pressure. WHO ARE THESE ASSHOLES? isnt that their fucking problem. who takes those things seriously?? do the people voted really fucking think that means they they HAVE to succeed? and what is the definition of success? like do they have to be the next bill gates?

they interviewed a dude and he was like "it was so much pressure,... i went to grad school and im teaching and editing a science website, but i dont make much... i feel like i didnt succeed!!" then they interviewed his psychologist, saying that those titles put undue pressure on the person and they carry that throughout life. HOW IS THIS REAL... as if "class clown" spent his life trying to make people laugh and he/she was like "youre not laughing hard enough!! aaaackkkk... im not living up to class clown"

I think there is a big issue with professional psychologist/social workers trying to make everything fair and even and validating everyone - i think its ridiculous and ultimately damaging to everyone involved. Could a person feel "pressure" because they were voted most likely to succeed or something? Ok yeah, I dont get it personally and I think having a little perspective on it is important but whatever- if it resonates for that guy because of his issues, ok. Then HE needs to resolve it by working on HIS ISSUES- not asking the world around him to change to accommodate him!! And the psychologist that backed him is doing more damage by perpetuating the patients idea that no one should put expectations on anyone.

Sitting at the pub last night and realizing my sore throat was not just allergies but probably a severe cold or sinus infection sitting in. Slept like crap last night because of said sore throat and then had to go antiquing all morning because I'd promised my husband weeks ago that I'd go. My students are 17-25 years old and each year, my freshmen are so clueless as to how to manage their time and handle issues because their parents have always done it for them. I have students who are 18 and have never really had down time because their parents scheduled them in so many activities that the kid never had to think about what to do with themselves. And every time something has gone wrong in their lives (bad grade, not making a team, etc) the parents fought the kid's battle so my students literally don't know how to advocate for themselves. They can whine and pester, but they can't actually step up and say "Okay, I did poorly but I'm willing to work hard. Will you give me a second chance?"

People bitch about the Millenials being selfish and stupid, but they're not. They've just never been allowed to think for themselves or to take life by the balls. Mommy and daddy have been neurotic and overprotective and have actually done more harm than good.
