ENUMCLAW, Wash. - Sheriff's deputies say a man drowned but his son survived after being thrown out of a boat Thursday at a lake in south King County.

According to the sheriff's office, first responders pulled the 37-year-old man from the water and started CPR, but the man died at the scene.

Officials said the man and his son were both fishing before being thrown from the boat. The man's son did not suffer any injuries.

Deputies said they were not wearing life jackets.

The man has not been identified and no further details have been released

Damn this story sounds too familiar though as in how Naya Rivera drowned type situation.

The article further states that the 37yo man died but "the juvenile was not injured." With the understanding that in this instance, "juvenile" can be anywhere from 1-17yo; how the hell did Dad drown but the "juvenile" survive? It has to be a case of the son being able to swim to safety, but Dad couldn't. Another senseless death in open water.

Also, how did the boat overturn? What kind of boat? My fears of a boat overturning are always pooh-poohed like that could never happen, but stories like this kick my thalassophobia in to overdrive.
You are talking to a woman who has laughed in the face of death, sneered at doom and chuckled at catastrophe.

Man fishing with son falls from boat, drowns in Enumclaw lake

    https://www.seattletimes.com/seattle...#39;s%20Office.

A 37-year-old man died Thursday afternoon after he fell from his boat into Deep Lake in Enumclaw, according to the King County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to the lake near the 36900 block of Veazie Cumberland Road Southeast, after receiving reports that someone had fallen off a boat, the sheriff’s office tweeted around 3 p.m.

Deputies pulled the man from the water and medics tried live-saving measures, but he died at the scene, according to the tweet.

The man was later identified as Timothy Pedrini, according to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Pedrini had been fishing with his son before he was “thrown out of the boat,” the sheriff’s office said. His son was not injured.

No further information was immediately available.
