The husband of a woman missing since Mother's Day said investigators in Colorado have botched the investigation into her disappearance and are now trying to "blame it on me."

In a 25-minute phone interview with KXRM-TV, Barry Morphew offered several theories about why his wife Suzanne went missing after reportedly leaving her Maysville home to go on a May 10th solo bike ride. He insisted he had nothing to do with her vanishing.

“This is the most devastating thing that has ever happened to me,” he said. “But I have got to keep my faith and trust in God. And Suzanne trusted the Lord and if one person got saved from this, she would think it was worth it. And we are just a Godly, loving, caring, family and this thing is just a tragedy.”

He further theorized that the 49-year-old mother of two adult daughters could have been attacked by an animal, run into someone she knows or had an accident.

Morphew was reportedly in Denver at a training course for his volunteer firefighter job at the time of his wife's disappearance. Investigators found his wife's bicycle on a path but little else is known about what happened to her.

During the phone interview, Barry Morphew accused investigators of bungling the case.

“The Sheriff’s Department screwed this whole thing up from the beginning and now they are trying to cover it up and blame it on me," he said according to the news station.

He accused the Sheriff's Department of mishandling evidence and the scene where officers found her bike.

“There’s no evidence for the investigators to see because the Sheriff’s Department completely obliterated it,” he said.

Morphew said he's avoided speaking publicly on his wife's case because of the negative media attention. The interview was Morphew's first public statements about the disappearance since uploading a video in May to a Facebook page dedicated to finding his wife.

Other than Barry, who was the last person to speak to Suzanne or see her alive? Has she been seen or heard from by anyone since her husband left for Denver?
You are talking to a woman who has laughed in the face of death, sneered at doom and chuckled at catastrophe.

I thought the neighbor saw her leave on the bike ride, but I might be wrong...it's been awhile and I would have to go back and look.

I don't think so. Barry called a neighbor and asked them to check on Suzanne IIRC. I don't think anyone has seen or spoken to her since he left for Denver. I could be wrong.

See, it's been awhile. I knew a neighbor was somehow involved. Sadly many of these cases start running together after awhile.

So I went back to look and I can't find where the husband called the neighbor to ask him to check on her. I see our speculation that he called, but can't find anything actually saying that.

Sorry to triple post. I don't know why, but I thought the neighbor was a man. The daughters were the ones that called the neighbor.

Mystery deepens over missing mom Suzanne Morphew– as cops search her house and neighbors say NO ONE actually saw her on a bike

On Thursday, it was reported that no one had actually seen Suzanne Morphew on a bike before she went missing, adding a major wrinkle to the investigation, according to The Sun.

Her daughter’s friend’s mother claims “nobody actually saw her on her bicycle, sadly,” according to Crime Online.
The Mail reports it was actually Suzanne Morphew’s daughters, Mallory and Macy, who first raised the alarm about their missing mother after they were unable to get in touch with her on Mother’s Day as they returned from a camping trip in Idaho. They called a neighbor and asked her to check on their mom.

Hahaha - I just did the same thing, went back through this thread looking for where I read Barry called the neighbor because he was concerned. Couldn't find it in any of the articles posted here, but found this interesting comment on the foxnews.com story you posted:

Did a little surfing on this story. Apparently no one actually saw her on her bicycle on Mother's Day. Also, an elderly lady reported that she heard loud construction equipment operating on a lot next to hers in the middle of the night (the night before Mother's Day). That lot was a few miles from Barry Morphew's house and he was in charge of the home construction being done there. They lived about 60 miles from Denver. And who does fire fighter training on Mother's Day?
So Barry was in charge of the home construction? I thought he was a landscaper? Also, didn't his fire department say they didn't know anything about the training? Like, he was doing it on his own, not through the department.

The family of Suzanne Morphew, the Chaffee County woman who went missing on Mother's Day, told Dateline NBC that they're taking action into their own hands to bring Morphew home.

"I'm tired of waiting," Morphew's brother Andrew Moorman said in an interview shared with News5 from Dateline NBC. For him, it's time.

"I can't stand the lack of information anymore," he said.

So, he's taking actions into his own hands.

"I need boots on the ground. I need to find my little sister. And I'm putting forth an effort right now," he said.

There's been no sign of 49-year-old Morphew since she left her home near Salida to take a bike ride on Mother's Day.

Chaffee County Sheriff's Office deputies and agents from both the CBI and FBI have been searching for her since. They returned to a property east of Salida last month to look for clues. There's a $200,000 reward offered for her return.

"I'm here tonight not because I want to be but because I have to be," Moorman said at a vigil in Indiana recently. "Got to find my little sister and I have to bring closure to my family."

Morphew's family is now mobilizing in her small hometown of Alexandria, Indiana.

"It's time now to rally the troops and head west," Moorman said.

A team of volunteers is set to leave Indiana and start searching in Colorado on Sept. 23.

"We're taking boats, kayaks, four-wheelers. I need dirt bikers, I need rock climbers, mountain climbers," Moorman said. "We need four-wheelers. Everything you can imagine that might run over that terrain."

Moorman is taking all the help he can get.

"I'm hoping to get a thousand or more people," he said. "Anybody that wants to go, join in."

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...ver-hotel.html

The husband of missing Colorado mom Suzanne Morphew spent the night before she vanished at a budget hotel in Denver – and left the room reeking of chlorine, a co-worker has claimed exclusively to DailyMail.com.

Suzanne, 49, was reported missing on Mother’s Day, May 10, by neighbor Jeanne Ritter, 70, after her two daughters Mallory and Macy were unable to reach her on the phone.

Her bike was found the same day by a bridge close to her luxury $1.5 million Salida, Colorado home and she had not been heard from since May 8.

At the time, her husband Barry was 150 miles away in Broomfield, Colorado - just outside of Denver - working on a landscaping job for transport company RTD-Denver.

But the couple's home quickly became the focus of the police investigation, with CSI specialists seen carrying evidence bags into the property in photos taken by DailyMail.com two days after Suzanne vanished.

Last week, her 52-year-old husband claimed to have given 30 hours of interviews to police and accused them of botching the initial investigation.

A day later, Suzanne’s brother Andy Moorman, 58, accused Barry of refusing to take a polygraph test and said he doesn’t feel that Barry is ‘fully cooperating’ with the investigation.

Now DailyMail.com can reveal that a co-worker of Barry’s took over his Holiday Inn hotel room on May 10 and found it scattered with wet towels and stinking of chlorine.

Jeff Puckett, 49, of Salida, Colorado, said he was ordered to Denver by Barry that morning but didn’t see him because he had already left ‘due to a family emergency’.

Speaking in an exclusive interview, Puckett told DailyMail.com: ‘I got there Sunday night and the room smelled like chlorine real bad.

‘It was his room and he’d taken a shower – his towels were all over the floor.’

A manager at the $92-a-night property confirmed to DailyMail.com that they do not use chlorine to clean guest rooms and have handed security footage from the weekend of May 9 to police.

Puckett also said he discovered a pile of mail in the room – including a letter about property insurance – and later turned it over to the FBI.

He said: ‘I found some mail in the hotel room. His mail was in there and I gave it to the FBI. I thought it was kind of odd to have it there.

‘Some of it was from an insurance company, like insuring your property, that kind of thing.’

DailyMail.com can also reveal Barry was granted guardianship of Suzanne in order to sell a property in their native Indiana on Tuesday after a 30-minute Zoom hearing.

Despite being told the landscaping work was urgent, Puckett told DailyMail.com that he arrived to find no tools and was left to wait around the hotel for two days – never actually visiting the job site.

He said he returned to Salida on the Tuesday after Suzanne disappeared and has not heard from Barry since, although he was paid.

As a result, he says the experience has left him suspicious. ‘It’s kind of weird,’ he told DailyMail.com. My first thought was that this must be like an alibi. That’s what it felt like.’

He added: 'I hope they find her alive but it’s been a long time.’

All of Puckett’s information has been passed to police by DailyMail.com.

The new revelations come a week after Barry gave his first interview in which he denied having anything to do with his wife’s disappearance almost four months ago.

The 52-year-old, who refused to speak on camera or be recorded, also mooted several theories about what could have happened to her, including an animal attack or a stranger abduction.

Very suspicious. When is landscaping work urgent?

What a crazy story. I'd be following up on the neighbor's claim about hearing heavy machinery being used in the middle of the night prior.
Just by reading the articles posted, I wouldn't be surprised if the husband killed her, used construction equipment to bury/dispose her in the middle of the night, and placed her bike to make it look like she was abducted or had an accident. Or he possibly killed her in the hotel room and tried cleaning up the blood with chlorine. Whatever happened, I hope they find her soon. Her poor family.

    https://www.foxnews.com/us/alleged-o...e-morphew-case

As the search for missing Colorado mom Suzanne Morphew continues, new details are emerging about her husband, Barry, and a landscaper he hired the weekend his wife disappeared.

Suzanne Morphew, 49, was reported missing from her Salida, Colo., home by neighbors on Mother's Day, May 10. She left in the morning on a bike ride and was never heard from again.

The leads in the case have largely led to dead ends, but rumors have taken on a life of their own.

Landscaper Morgan Gentile was accused of having an affair with Barry Morphew, an allegation she strongly denies.

"I got treated through all this just like I'm the other woman, even though I'm not the other woman. I just happen to be a woman," she said.

But she said her boss, Morphew, was acting odd around the time his wife vanished, the Daily Mail reported. "I'm scared of Barry," she said. "I don't want to see him again, ever again."

Gentile told Fox21News that Morphew was "acting really weird ... I was like, 'Barry, what's up?"

She added that he "seemed stressed" and "definitely seemed weird on Saturday."

Gentile agreed to work for an entire day, but Morphew dismissed her from the job early, around 11 a.m. "He said that he had to go make his wife happy -- do some hiking or biking. And I found out, like, later that day that he was in town all day," she said.

The following day - Mother's Day - Gentile said she got a surprise call from Barry Morphew asking her to work on a project 150 miles away.

    She claimed he sounded "frantic."

She drove to the job site with another contractor, Jeff Puckett. But Barry Morphew told Gentile and Puckett there had been a family emergency and he needed to make the return trip home immediately.

Gentile and Puckett said they went to a Holiday Inn where Barry Morphew asked them to stay.

Morphew told Fox21 that he, too, smelled chlorine and believed it came from either the pool or used as a washing agent for the hotel's linens.

He has denied having anything to do with his wife's disappearance and said claims he cheated on her are false.

"Everybody's out there saying, "Oh, you got a girlfriend, you must have had an affair," he told Fox21. "...There's nobody. There's never been another love in my life."

The older brother of missing Colorado mom Suzanne Morphew launched an independent search on Thursday for the remains of his younger sister, who he believes was the victim of foul play.

"My sister was murdered," her brother, Andrew Moorman said, ABC affiliate Denver 7 reports. "And she was hidden within a three-and-a-half-hour window. So that — I can draw a circle on that and tell you she's within that circle. And that's what I know happened."

Moorman’s independent search, which the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office and the CBI are supporting, will run from Thursday through Tuesday.

    — Courtney Fromm (@courtney_fromm) September 24, 2020

“I just want to find my little sister,” Moorman told FOX21 News. “I want to bring her back home and give her a proper burial.”

Hundreds of volunteers from Colorado and other states, including Indiana, where Moorman and Morphew grew up, are helping him.

Volunteers will walk the rough, mountainous, wooded terrain in the area to look for any sign of the missing mother.

They will scour nearby lakes with boats and SONAR equipment and use search dogs and drones to find any clue as to what happened to her.

Moorman told Denver 7 that he will be searching in four specific areas using satellite images to guide him.

“I have very good intelligence,” he told Denver 7. “Very good intelligence. Maybe I don't know everything the FBI knows, but I know a bunch of it."

He added, "I'm going to get results.”
Her husband has said he believes she may have been attacked by a mountain lion.

Moorman thinks otherwise, saying that had had been attacked by a mountain lion, there would be some evidence of that, Denver 7 reports.

He doesn’t think she left the bike where it was found, either.

"You couldn't have ridden off that cliff without being severely hurt," he said, Denver 7 reports. "There certainly would have been evidence of injury at the bottom of that hill and there was none. So I believe the bike was picked up and thrown over the hill by human hands."

Missing on bike ride: Suzanne Morphew's brother mobilizes hundreds for new search

    https://www.eastbaytimes.com/2020/09...or-new-search/

The brother of a Colorado woman who went missing almost five months ago has recruited hundreds of volunteers for a search to start Thursday.

Suzanne Morphew, 49, was reported missing on May 10. She had last been seen leaving on a bike ride from her home in Maysville, a Rocky Mountains community of about 100 residents. Searchers found her bike that evening.

Morphew moved in 2018 from Indiana to Maysville with her husband, Barry, and their teenage daughters.

Her brother, Andrew Moorman, who lives in Indiana, has raised more than $12,000 on GoFundMe to finance a search.

'I've got to find my little sister, and I have to bring closure to my family. We were quiet for a while because the investigators asked that of us, but it's time now to rally the troops and go west and find her,' Moorman said when he announced the search, according to the Associated Press.

Moorman's organized effort is expected to last until Tuesday and involve hundreds of volunteers, according to the Chaffee County sheriff's office.

'Although our team is unable to coordinate and lead this effort due to liability issues we want to support this effort in several different ways,' the sheriff's office said in a statement. 'We certainly appreciate this huge undertaking and want to offer support to facilitate their efforts.'

The sheriff's office will staff a command post, as part of the effort, and its search and rescue team will be available. A crime scene team will also be ready to document any evidence that may turn up.

The sheriff's office has conducted at least 10 large searches, using dogs, drones and piloted aircraft, and has followed hundreds of tips in an effort to find Morphew. The Colorado Bureau of Investigation and Federal Bureau of Investigation have also been involved. No suspect has been identified in her disappearance.

Morphew's family is offering a $200,000 reward for information that leads to her safe return.

Moorman told Indianapolis TV station WISH that he suspects his sister was the victim of foul play and died months ago.

Barry Morphew was reportedly out of town on the day his wife disappeared ' Mother's Day. When relatives in Indiana couldn't contact her, they called a neighbor of the Morphews', who found the house empty.

Suzanne Morphew?s brother provides update on search

DENVER (KDVR) ? Suzanne Morphew has been missing since May. Suzanne?s brother, Andrew Moorman, organized a search for her that will last until Sept. 29.

Moorman was expected to speak to Channel 2 Monday morning but was not able to get enough cell service in the area where the search moved to.

On Friday, Moorman spoke with FOX31 and Channel 2 about how the search is going.

Moorman said that the search team found evidence near the Morphew residence on Thursday but could not be more specific about what it was. He said that the Colorado Bureau of Investigation and sheriff?s office are processing the evidence.

?We had to process some evidence yesterday that we found up on the top of the mountain. I?d hate to speak too much about it. I can just tell you, it was close to the Morphew residence and we?re not sure of the importance of it, but we did get the CBI on it and they are processing that scene as we speak,? shared Moorman.

FOX31 and Channel 2 asked Moorman if Barry Morphew, Suzanne?s husband is involved in the search.

?Yesterday we ran into him as we cross that mountain top of where we found the evidence and he was out hanging trail cams and he had a shotgun on his shoulder and warned us not to go any further because we were about to enter private property. And to answer your question, no, he?s not involved in the search,? shared Moorman.

Moorman says he believes Barry Morphew is not doing enough to help.

?He?s not cooperating enough with police. He should have done a voice analysis with a detective right off the bat and some of his behavior since then have been quite strange,? shared Moorman.

FOX31 and Channel 2 asked Moorman what he thought happened to Suzanne.

?I think that she was abducted. I don?t think she ever got on her bike. I think she probably died Saturday and she was hidden somewhere Saturday night and we?re pushing forward and that?s the theories that we have right now that seem to be correct,? shared Moorman.

Suzanne Morphew?s husband left Denver hotel room reeking of chlorine, littered with insurance letters, co-worker claims

FOX31 and Channel 2 asked Moorman if he thinks Barry Morphew was involved in Suzanne?s disappearance.

?I?m afraid this is domestic abuse,? shared Moorman.

Moorman said he learned while searching for Suzanne that she was ?working with domestic abuse meetings.?

Scent of human remains found on land owned by missing mom Suzanne Morphew's husband: reports

The scent of human remains has been discovered on land owned by Barry Morphew, the husband of missing Colorado mom Suzanne Morphew, her brother told multiple media outlets on Monday.

A second search of the site, using different cadaver dogs, also got a hit, Andrew Moorman said.

The discoveries were made on a plot of land owned by Barry Morphew in Poncha Springs, located about 20 minutes from where the couple lived with their high-school and college-aged daughters.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation has been called in to take over the search, Moorman said.

Moorman, who lives in Indiana, organized a six-day "boots on the ground" search of the mountainous area where his sister was last seen. The search began Thursday and is expected to wrap up Tuesday. Barry Morphew did not participate in the search.

The scent of human remains has been discovered on a plot of land owned by Barry Morphew by searchers hunting for his wife Suzanne, DailyMail.com can exclusively reveal. The FBI have been called to the site to search for possible remains.

Suzanne, 49, was reported missing from her home in Maysville, Colorado, on Mother’s Day in May after her two daughters Mallory and Macy were unable to contact her.

Four months after her disappearance, nothing has been found of the mother-of-two but her bike, which was located by cops on a bridge close to her home.

Now her brother Andrew Moorman, 58, has raised $18,000 to pay for a search that took place over the weekend and said cadaver dogs picked up a scent on the wooded site - located just 15 miles away from the Morphews' home.

A second search of the site took place on Monday using different cadaver dogs and the dogs' handler told DailyMail.com they got another hit. The handler explained the dogs are trained to only pick up human scents.

Now the FBI will take over the search and conduct a dig on the area where the scent was detected by the dogs.

The husband definitely murdered her and he wasn't very good about covering it up. What a moron. Trail cams and a shotgun telling searchers to stay off his property while he should be the one searching. It's not as if that's a neon sign with an arrow pointing at him flashing "murderer" or anything.

The home of a missing Chaffee County woman is now up for sale, less than five months since she was last seen.

Suzanne Morphew, 49, was reported missing on Mother’s Day – May 10. She had reportedly left her house alone for a bike ride and never returned. Her bike was recovered less than a half a mile away later that the same day, her family has told FOX21 News.

A Zillow realtor confirmed that the Morphew family home was put on the market on Monday. The 3-bedroom home, located on Puma Path in Maysville, was listed on Zillow and Redfin at $1,759,000. According to the assessor’s office, the home was sold to the Morphews in April of 2018, they were the second homeowners.

In the weeks and months following Suzanne’s disappearance, law enforcement agencies executed two search warrants at the Maysville home, a judge has ordered those documents sealed.

If people weren't looking at him before, I'm sure they are side-eyeing the fuck out of him now.
