A postal worker was found shot to death in Williamsburg County on Monday.

A passerby found 64-year-old Irene Pressley dead Monday near her car on Morrisville Highway in the Andrews community of Williamsburg Highway, according to Williamsburg County Coroner Harrison McKnight.

McKnight said she worked as a mail carrier. He wouldn't say if Pressley was driving her mail carrier's vehicle at the time of the shooting.

He added he couldn't elaborate any further to protect the integrity of the investigation.

McKnight said her death appears to be that of a homicide. McKnight said an autopsy is being performed to determine Pressley's specific cause of death.

Lt. Daryel Moyd with the Williamsburg County Sheriff's Office said that the United States Postal Inspection Service and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division are helping in the investigation.

A 22-year-old man was arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of South Carolina postal worker Irene Pressley, the Williamsburg County Sheriff's Office said.

Trevor Raekwon Seward shot Pressley several times, the arrest warrant alleges. He has been charged with murder, the sheriff's office said in a release Saturday.
Pressley was killed September 23 while delivering mail in Andrews, in the Lowcountry of South Carolina, about 60 miles northeast of Charleston.

Investigators linked Seward to the killing after matching a fingerprint on a package found at the crime scene, according to the warrant. Seward was seen with "what was believed to be an AR-15" shortly before the shooting, and shell casings were found at the scene, the warrant states.

Pressley had worked for the postal service for almost 22 years, said David McGinnis, the inspector in charge of the US Postal Service's Charlotte Division.
The investigation is still ongoing, the sheriff's office said.

Seward is scheduled to appear in court November 15, according to a court document.

He was denied bond at a hearing over the weekend, CNN affiliate WCSC reported, citing Lt. Daryel Moyd of the Williamsburg County Sheriff's Office.
A Williamsburg County court clerk told CNN Seward doesn't yet have a lawyer.

Pressley's funeral was Saturday, the day Seward was arrested, WCSC reported.

"She was the post office mama," Postmaster Sharon Cameron said at the service, according to WCSC. "We keep her picture as you can see. And we will honor her at that post office now and forever."

What could his motive possibly be?

    RIP Irene

My guess is that he was just jerking around with his gun and wanted to shoot someone in general.

Two Andrews men face federal murder charges in the 2019 slaying of postal employee Irene Pressley, it was announced at a press conference on Wednesday.

Trevor Raekwon Seward, 22, and Jerome Terrell Davis, 28, were charged in a six-count federal indictment in the September 2019 homicide, while a third man, Ricky Jesus Rocha Barajas, 28, of Santa Rosa, Ca., was charged with drug conspiracy with Seward and Davis.

Barajas and Davis were also charged with use of communication facility to commit a drug offense the day Pressley, 64, was killed.

Pressley was found dead in her postal vehicle along her mail route in Andrews on Sept. 23, 2019, after nearly two decades with the U.S. Postal Service.
A SC mail carrier was gunned down on the job. A suspect's in custody, but questions linger.

“First and foremost, my heart goes out to Ms. Pressley’s family for their profound loss. She was an exceptional woman who spent a lifetime in service of her community,” U.S. Attorney Peter M. McCoy said Wednesday in a prepared statement.

Documentation filed in state court alleges Seward and Davis shot Pressley with a semiautomatic weapon just after 3 p.m. on Sept. 23. It contends the motivation was to steal a package containing marijuana.

Numerous shell casings were found at the crime scene, with the U.S. Postal Inspection Service linking one fingerprint on a mail parcel to Seward.
