    Lemon Coolers by Sunshine Biscuits.

The sugar cereal of my childhood before they took out whatever unhealthy things that made it taste so good. Corn Pops taste like cardboard now!

    BLT Chalupas from Taco Bell.

The seasonal peppermint brownies at Starbucks.

What I miss most of all is being able to eat these things every now and then and not gain 5 pounds overnight.

I miss the grilled chicken sandwich that Sonic used to have about 12 years ago. It's totally different now. The old one was soooo good!

I love salt and will put it on just about anything. Never tried this, but it sounds delicious and I'm going to give it a try.

My friend told me about it years ago, loved it. She also put salt on my peach but that wasn't too good...but the salt did bring out the peach juices....as soon as she put the salt the peach started juicing like crazy.

If this hysteria over the virus keeps up, I'll be missing all food

My Mom would always eat tomatoes like they were apples with salt. Of course, they were straight from our garden so tasted even better.

Yes! When we were kids we ate them like that straight out of Poppy's garden. And speaking of Foods You Miss: A Good Old Fashioned Garden Tomato! They just don't taste the same anymore, even from roadside stands, garden markets, etc. I used to eat tomato salads, tomato sandwiches w/mayo, and plain like an apple.... really miss that.

So that's 3 of you guys now that are talking about the lemon coolers. Not sure how I missed them since I grew up in the 80's and 90's too. I had never heard of these so I went looking and found this:

    https://www.chowhound.com/food-news/...ck-well-sorta/

This is from 2009, so not sure if they still sell them, but maybe you can find a clone:

In any case, Lemon Coolers have been sorely missed. There are frequent online pleas for the reintroduction of the cookies including a petition, and a much-passed-around MYO recipe.

And finally, all those prayers have been answered … sorta. Niche Foods Company, whose website proclaims its dedication to bringing back “Old Time Favorites,” has now introduced Lemon Cookies, for sale at Safeway, Dominick’s, Vons, Genuardi’s, Tom Thumb, Carrs, and Randalls stores.

Are they the same? Close enough to make me smile. They have the same pleasing tenderness, and the powdered sugar on the outside still makes a great foil for the citrus flavor. They lack the chewy lemony bits of the old cookies (whatever they were), and they don’t seem quite as tart. But since the originals have been gone for almost a decade … well … if you can’t be with the one you love, honey, love the one you’re with.

A good knock-off recipe for lemon coolers. Tip of the hat to Recipe Cottage.com

    INGREDIENTS

    1/2 cup Powdered sugar
    1/3 cup Sugar
    1/3 cup Shortening
    1 Egg
    1/2 teaspoon Vanilla
    1/8 teaspoon Salt
    1 1/2 cups Cake flour
    1 1/2 teaspoons Baking Powder
    1 tablespoon Water
    1 cup Powdered sugar
    1/2 teaspoon Unsweetened lemonade mix

    Dozen

    INSTRUCTIONS

    1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees.

    2. Cream together sugars, shortening, egg, vanilla, and salt in

    a large bowl.

    3. Add the flour and baking powder. Add 1 tablespoon of water and

continue mixing until dough forms a ball.

    4. Roll dough into 3/4-inch balls and flatten slightly onto a

lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake for 15 to 18 minutes or until

    cookies are light brown.

    5. As cookies bake, combine 1 cup powdered sugar with the lemonade

drink mix in a large plastic bag and shake thoroughly to mix.

    6. When the cookies are removed from the oven and while they are

hot, add 4 or 5 at a time to the bag and shake it until the cookies

are well coated. Repeat with the remaining cookies.
    NOTES

I like lemon so I ended up using more lemonade mix and I also used lemon juice in place of the water

    RBW thank you for this!

They had a good cookie flavor but the awesomeness was in how the powdered sugar had a lemony cooling taste. Well for me anyway.

It looks like they're mainly out in California and Washington, and I am on the East Coast. When the virus is contained we're all taking an MDS trip to the west coast for Shakey's Pizza!
