Jennifer Dulos' family issues statement on Fotis Dulos (52) death

    https://nypost.com/2020/01/30/jennif...s-dulos-death/

The family of missing Connecticut mother Jennifer Dulos has issued a statement on the death of her estranged husband and alleged killer, Fotis Dulos.

?This is a horrific tragedy all around,? family spokeswoman Carrie Luft said in a statement Thursday evening. ?Please respect the privacy of the families and loved ones involved.?

Fotis Dulos, 52, died Thursday, two days after an apparent suicide attempt at his Farmington mansion, said his lawyer, Norm Pattis.

The luxury home builder from Greece had been hospitalized in dire condition at Jacobi Medical Center in The Bronx since Tuesday, when authorities found him inside his car in his garage.

Officials said he rigged a hose to the exhaust pipe of his car in order to poison himself.

Dulos had been on house arrest at the time, after being charged Jan. 7 with the murder and kidnapping of his 50-year-old wife, Jennifer, who vanished in May after dropping their five kids off at school.

On the day he was found unconscious, Dulos had been facing an emergency bond hearing that could have sent him back to the slammer.

Authorities reportedly found a note he left behind proclaiming his innocence.

The search didn?t turn up any new clues as to what happened to Jennifer, whose body hasn?t been found.

    * I thought for sure that we had a thread on this couple but I could not find it by searching. *

Cops reignite search for Connecticut mom Jennifer Dulos’ body with cadaver dogs

    https://nypost.com/2020/06/11/police...ennifer-dulos/

Police have renewed their hunt for missing Connecticut mom Jennifer Dulos — on Thursday bringing cadaver dogs and scouring a septic tank at the Avon mansion where she once lived with her estranged husband, who was charged with her murder before he committed suicide in January, according to reports.

At least a dozen state police vehicles pulled up to the Sky View Drive home where Jennifer and Fotis Dulos lived briefly in 2010, years before their bitter divorce battle and her disappearance on May 24, 2019, the Hartford Courant reported.

Police converged on the property with cadaver dogs and called in a septic tank company to drain a 2,000 gallon, 16-foot deep tank on the site, the Daily Mail reported Thursday.

The Courant said the couple lived at the house for several months in 2010 while their Jefferson Crossing estate — where Fotis Dulos later took his life — was being finished.

Fotis Dulos’ home construction company, Fore Group, also worked on the Sky View Drive property for several months in 2018 to conduct repairs after pipes burst inside the house, the outlet said. The property has since been vacant.

The company had a contract with the property owner, attorney David Ford, to demolish the house, but it’s unclear when that was due to take place.

Police had previously been on the property as part of the investigation, but did so without a warrant and without cadaver dogs to search woods behind the house, the Courant said. They did not comment on their renewed interest in the property.

Police believed Fotis Dulos, 52, a luxury home builder, killed Jennifer inside her New Canaan home, stuffed her body into her Chevy Suburban, and drove to Waverly Park in the town, where he allegedly moved her body into an employee’s pickup truck.

Her body has never been found.

Fotis Dulos was out on $6 million bail and was due in Stamford Superior Court for a bail hearing on the morning he locked himself in the garage of his Jefferson Crossing mansion — less than 2 miles from the Avon property — and attempted to kill himself.

He died two days later from carbon monoxide poisoning.

His ex-girlfriend, Michelle Troconis, pleaded not guilty in February to charges of conspiracy to commit murder in the case.

Fotis Dulos meticulously planned his suicide, police report reveals

    https://nypost.com/2020/05/23/fotis-...eport-reveals/

Fotis Dulos, the Connecticut luxury home developer who was accused of killing his wife, planned his own suicide in meticulous detail, according to a police report obtained by The Hartford Courant.

On Jan. 28, Dulos stuffed the openings in his garage door with Styrofoam and used duct tape to fasten a vacuum hose to the tailpipe of his SUV, according to the 19-page Farmington police report, detailing the suicide of the prime suspect in the murder of his estranged wife Jennifer Farber Dulos.

The New Canaan mother of five disappeared a year ago Sunday. The couple had been enmeshed in a lengthy and bitter divorce.

Before heading to his car for the last time, Dulos, who had been formally accused of killing his wife weeks earlier, spoke to three people — his lawyer, a bail bondsman and his new girlfriend, Anna Curry, the report says.

Dulos was scheduled to appear that day in a Stamford court where he faced the prospect of returning to prison if his $6 million bond was revoked. When he failed to show for up for the hearing, police rushed to his home, where they found him slumped in the front seat of his Chevrolet Suburban.

“I looked in the window of the door and saw that the windows of the Suburban were fogged up and suspected that someone was inside the vehicle,” wrote Lt. Sean Bailey. “I could see a haze in the garage that appeared to be vehicle exhaust.”

Bailey and another officer forced the garage door open.

“Dulos’ skin was gray, he was not breathing, and appeared lifeless,” Bailey wrote.

Dulos never recovered consciousness, and died of carbon monoxide poisoning two days later at Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx.

In the report, police also say that Curry was at Dulos’ home at some point on the morning of his suicide. The couple had planned to drive together to the Stamford court house, but Dulos changed his mind and said that they would drive separately, the report says.

As Curry made her way to Stamford, she received a call from Kevin Smith, an attorney representing Dulos, asking where his client was. She told him that he was driving ahead of her, but the lawyer informed her that the Dulos’ GPS tracker indicated that he was still at his home.

“Anna said that, at that moment, she knew that Fotis must have done something to harm himself,” the police report says. But she did not call 911 and asked the attorney to make the call, the police report says.

Later, an officer could hear Curry speaking on the phone.

“While we were in the cruiser, Anna was making several calls to people close to Fotis and advising them of what was happening,” said Douglas Frink. In one of the calls, “Anna told the other person, ‘He wanted to do this!’

I hate that he died so peacefully after Jennifer's death wasn't peaceful at all. If there is a hell, he's surely burning in it.

The lead investigator still looking for missing mom Jennifer Farber Dulos has revealed chilling new details about why police believe she met a violent end inside her Connecticut garage.

In an interview with NBC’s “Dateline” due to air Monday, Sgt. Kenneth Ventresca with the Connecticut State Police said blood spatter evidence suggests she died between two SUVs parked in her garage on May 24, 2019.

“My personal belief says based on the blood spatter a serious, violent assault occurred in that garage,” Ventresca said in an excerpt of the Dateline interview aired Monday on the “Today” show.

“Whether she was bludgeoned to death, you know, standing up, and then fell on the floor between the vehicles,” or she was assaulted on the ground, it’s not clear, he said.

What is clear is that more of Jennifer’s blood was found in the garage than first revealed in the murder warrant paperwork used to arrest her estranged husband Fotis Dulos back in January.

The warrant previously said Jennifer’s blood was found on the hood, bumper and rear fender of a 2014 Range Rover that was found parked in her garage with signs of spatter on its driver’s side.

Ventresca told “Dateline” the blood evidence went far beyond that.

“I mean, you could see the blood spatter underneath the vehicles, I mean up to the drive shaft, underneath the passenger floor boards,” he said.

The other vehicle tied to the alleged murder was Jennifer’s 2017 Chevrolet Suburban. Police later found it abandoned near a local park with its running lights on and spatter on its passenger side, according to Fotis’ arrest warrant.

“We’re still actively investigating. We still have a lot of stuff we’re still doing. And I’m confident we are gonna find her,” Ventresca said.

Richard Colangelo, chief state’s attorney, told Dateline he believes the plastic zip ties previously mentioned in the arrest warrant are the best evidence proving her murder was planned.

According to the warrant released in January, investigators four plastic zip ties in trash bags allegedly ditched by Fotis in Hartford, including two that were stained with Jennifer’s blood.

“The most telling, honestly, was the zip ties that were cut and had Jennifer’s blood on them,” Colangelo told ‘Dateline.’

“Our theory is that they were used to incapacitate Jennifer in the garage,” he said.

It is the video that Connecticut police say helped them connect Fotis Dulos to the disappearance of his estranged wife, Jennifer Dulos.

On Monday, we’re seeing that video for the first time.

CBS2’s Tony Aiello has more on what it shows and why it’s being released.

His suicide in January ended his life, but not the overwhelming interest in the crime.

So the release of the video satisfies a powerful curiosity.

Fotis Dulos is seen in a black pickup, perhaps unaware he was on a Hartford street loaded with sophisticated surveillance cameras.

It was the night of May 24, 2019, just hours after Jennifer Dulos was reported missing.

The video shows Fotis Dulos stopping to dump bags in the trash, and also leaving what appears to be a car mat on the side of a deli.

When cops traced his phone to the spot and found this video, it was the first big break in the case. It led to charges against Fotis Dulos and his girlfriend, Michelle Troconis, who claims she was just along for the ride and not a knowing participant in disposing of evidence.

Fotis Dulos’ former attorney Kent Mawhinney free on bond

    https://www.wtnh.com/dulos/fotis-dul...d-from-prison/

STAMFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Kent Mawhinney, the former attorney of the late Fotis Dulos, is free on bond Monday after being behind bars since January.

The conditional release from Cheshire Correctional Institution comes following a motion from his attorneys earlier in the month to modify his bond and conditions of release.

His bond was lowered, which will now allow him to visit his 86-year-old father who is dying of cancer in Florida, according to his legal team.

Mawhinney’s defense attorney Lee Gold of Butler Norris & Gold did speak to reporters Monday, thanking the Court and Chief States Attorney for agreeing to his client’s release.

“We’re just happy with the compassion of the state in allowing him to deal with his family and see his father in Florida,” said Gold.

Mawhinney, 53, who has been in state custody for nearly a year, is facing charges in the connection with Jennifer Farber Dulos’, Dulos’ estranged wife, disappearance and supposed death in 2019.

Phone records show Mawhinney was at Dulos’ Farmington home when Jennifer disappeared from New Canaan. Authorities allege Mawhinney was part of a plot to give Dulos an alibi.

Investigators said Mawhinney was evasive when questioned about what he knew about the disappearance.

He was already in legal trouble for allegedly assaulting his ex-wife.

Then, came the accusation that Mawhinney may have dug a human grave in the woods of the Windsor Rod and Gun Club, which he founded. It left people to wonder: Was that intended for his own wife for Dulos’s wife?

His $2-million bond has been reduced to just under a quarter of a million dollars. His parents have been able to scrape that together so Mawhinney can get out in time to see his sick father.

Dulos’ former girlfriend Michelle Troconis is also facing charges in Jennifer’s disappearance.

Dulos died in January after an attempt to take his own life at his home in Farmington.

Jennifer has been missing since May 2019.

Mawhinney has plead not guilty to all the accusations against him.

Neither Mawhinney nor his attorneys have indicated whether he is willing to work with prosecutors as they continue to search for Jennifer Farber Dulos.
