These are desperate times right now for the family of 42-year-old Christy Rooks.

"I hope she's okay," her mother, Nellie Rooks, said.

She said she's frantic, and her mind is running a mile a minute.

"I don't know any place she could be," Rooks said. "I'm scared somebody's hurt her... and then it's been cold and I'm thinking she's somewhere hurt and she's cold... You think everything. You really do."

Rooks lives at the Cliffridge Apartments on Eldridge Avenue. But, according to family, she was last seen 11 days ago leaving her boyfriend's house in Hazen, Arkansas, which is about an hour from Wynne.

WREG asked Wynne police if they had interviewed the boyfriend or other witnesses, but so far, all they're saying is they're asking for help on social media as their investigators work with other law enforcement agencies across the state to find her.

"The police are doing everything," Rooks said.

She said she's devastated by how long her daughter's been gone. She said Christy travels a lot but always keeps in touch.

Rooks is described as 5 foot 2 with blond hair and blue eyes. She weighs about 130 pounds.

If you know anything about her disappearance, please call Wynne police at 870-238-8718.

Both federal and state authorities have discovered the remains of a body that may be those of a missing Cross County woman, according to the Arkansas State Police.

ASP said in a media release that the remains were discovered Saturday in a crude grave site, about nine miles north of Hazen.

Both Arkansas State Police special agents and the FBI Evidence Recovery team went to the scene, officials said.

“Forensics experts at the Arkansas State Crime Lab will attempt to identify the remains and determine a manner and cause of death,” ASP said in a media release.

Officials said state troopers, special agents and the FBI have been at the scene since Friday.

“Information tied to the disappearance of Christy Rooks, 42, of Wynne led law enforcement officers to farm property and a residence between Des Arc and Hazen, where the investigation and evidence recovery has been underway over the past two days,” ASP said.

In the release, officials said Earl Parks, 47, of Hazen was taken into custody on suspicion of being in a felon in possession of a firearm. Parks is also being questioned by state police in connection with Rooks’ disappearance.

Officials also said Rooks’ Nissan Altima was found Friday by troopers in the Cabot area.

Human remains found over the weekend in Hazen, Arkansas have been positively identified as those of a missing Cross County woman and a man has been charged, according to the sheriff of Prairie County, Arkansas.

Christy Rooks was last seen in mid-January leaving her boyfriend's house in Hazen, which is about an hour from Wynne.

Rooks’ car was found by Arkansas Highway Patrol in Cabot on Friday.

Police say information tied to her disappearance led law enforcement to farm property and a residence between Des Arc and Hazen where the investigation and evidence recovery has been underway over the past couple of days.

Rooks' remains were recovered from a field Saturday and positively identified on Monday.

"I just stumbled upon what looked like a grave and I told the guys 'I think this is it' and that's where we found her," Prairie County Sheriff Rick Hickman said.

Rooks’ boyfriend, Earl Parks, was charged with capital murder, abuse of a corpse, tampering with evidence and possession of a firearm. Authorities say they found it suspicious when he reported her missing.

Parks has a criminal record and due to his relationship with Rooks, he became a person of interest.
