The estranged husband of a missing Albany woman is now a person of interest in a police investigation, authorities said.

Tiffany Lazon, 37, was reported missing Jan. 8 by her daughter.

Albany police said Thursday that Craig Lazon is the last person known to have had contact with her in late December. Police said he told them Jan. 9 that he didn't know where Tiffany was and thought she moved to Washington.

But her daughter, Felicity Halberg, told KOIN (6) her mother ?left her car, her money, her cat, her clothes. She left everything. How would she get to Washington without anything??

Late Tuesday, Craig Lazon was arrested on charges of animal neglect and abandonment connected with Tiffany's cat, which police say was found in a storage locker without food or water.

Police on Wednesday executed a search warrant at Tiffany Lazon's house with help from the Oregon State Police Crime Lab.

Albany police on Thursday said Craig Lazon is a person of interest in the case, which is now under investigation as both a missing person and a death investigation.

Craig Lazon was accused in 2013 of assaulting Tiffany Lazon, but the charge was dismissed. He was convicted in the case, however, for assaulting another person, possessing methamphetamine and tampering with a witness.

Records show he was then accused in 2015 of trying to kill Tiffany Lazon. He was also accused of assault, strangulation, rape, sodomy, unlawful sexual penetration and kidnapping in the same case.

Craig Lazon was convicted of tampering with a witness in the case. The rest of the charges were dismissed.

He was also convicted in 2018 of harassing Tiffany Lazon.

Tiffany Lazon is described as 5-foot-5 and 115 pounds, with blonde hair and glasses. Anyone with information about her location is asked to call police in Albany.

The husband of a missing Albany woman is facing a murder charge after investigators say they found “bodily tissue and blood” matching her DNA on a circular saw.

Tiffany Marie Lazon, 37, has been listed as a missing person with the Albany Police Department since Jan. 9.

Her husband, 42-year-old Craig Lazon, was arrested on charges in connection to her murder on Tuesday.

During the missing persons investigation, detectives learned that Craig had borrowed a battery-operated circular saw from a friend and returned it several days later.

The Oregon State Crime Lab tested the saw and found “bodily tissue and blood” on the saw which matched Tiffany’s DNA.
According to an indictment, Craig Lazon was arrested in 2015 for attempting to murder his wife. He was charged with attempted murder, fourth-degree assault, strangulation, two counts of second-degree assault, first-degree rape, first-degree sodomy, first-degree unlawful sexual penetration, and first-degree kidnapping.

A probable cause affidavit states Tiffany Lazon told police that Craig Lazon tied her up in their home beginning Feb. 24, 2015 and held her against her will until she got away on March 2, 2015.

She told police Lazon also raped her, tried to strangle her, and repeatedly beat her while she was in captivity. And, she says, her teenage daughter was home the entire time. She told police Lazon told her daughter she was sick to keep them apart.

According to the court document, Tiffany Lazon told police that Craig Lazon put her in a car and was planning to take her to the Calapooia River, drown her and dump her body. But, he forgot his cell phone in the house. When he went inside to get it, she somehow got free from the car and ran several yards to that neighbor's house.

Frederick Edwards is the manager of the West Side Villa Apartments in Albany where Tiffany Lazon said she was assaulted. He said he saw her after she escaped.

In 2015, Edwards told KATU that he put Tiffany Lazon on the stoop of his apartment, behind one of his cars, so Craig Lazon couldn’t get to her. He said Lazon appeared to be angry, almost possessed.

All of the charges against Craig Lazon in that case were dismissed after a judge determined the victim in the case, Tiffany Lazon, was not a credible witness.

Court documents say Lazon had previously been convicted of assaulting his wife in 2013, and he has a previous meth conviction.

Yeah, wonder how that judge that said she was an unreliable witness feels now?
