An actress who plays a murderer in a low-budget horror film has been accused of shooting her uncle to death.

Aisling "Tucker" Moore-Reed was released on bail after she was arrested for allegedly shooting her uncle Shane Moore in Jackson City, Oregon.

Moore-Reed went on to audition for the leading role of "From the Dark" under the pseudonym "Wyn Reed."

Moore-Reed, 30, landed the leading role as Valerie Faust in the "rural murder-thriller" about a tour guide?s last day at work in the isolated mountains where things go wrong. In the film Faust and shoots someone to death.

As the movie was filming from April 2018 to July 2018, the investigation into the 63-year-old man's death continued. Moore-Reed?s defense team handed over her cellphone with a video she recorded of the encounter with Moore in order to provide evidence of self-defense, according to the Washington Post.

After the shooting, Moore-Reed hysterically cried, "I didn't mean to shoot him in the chest," according to a video originally posted by The Oregonian.

Moore-Reed?s mom, Kelly Moore, is a former California lawyer and also told The Washington Post her daughter acted in self-defense.

The Oregon-based production company, Siskiyou Productions, tells ABC News that they found out her real-life murder case on July 23, 2018 -- the day after they wrapped on principal photography.

The production company said they "believed her story and felt for her deeply" when they heard her self-defense claim. But, once they saw the cellphone footage that caused the charges to get upgraded to murder, the production company's "perspectives changed."

Nearly four years after shooting and killing her uncle a trial date has been set for a local author and actress accused of murder.

Aisling Tucker Moore-Reed, who goes by the pen name Tucker Reed, will go to trial this spring.

Her work has appeared in multiple national publications. Recently, Moore-Reed also starred in an independent film called “From the Dark” where she plays a character who kills someone.

Moore-Reed was initially charged with two counts of manslaughter by a grand jury for shooting and killing her uncle, Shane Patrick Moore, in July of 2016 in the Applegate Valley.

But months later, a grand jury added a murder charge after investigators found a video recording on reed’s cell phone which ended with reed pulling the trigger.

In January of 2019, Jackson County Circuit Court Judge Lisa Greif said, “Mr. Moore was barely in the door before he was shot and he was shot in the chest at pretty close range.”

Moore-Reed’s mother told NBC5 News shortly after the shooting that her brother threatened to kill her and was physically assaulting her when he was shot.

Moore-Reed has been denied bail and, according to court records, she’s had 12 different attorneys represent her in the case.

On December 9, 2019, her trial was scheduled for May.

The video shows Moore-Reed?s uncle approaching the home as she, her sister, Larkin, her mother, Kelly Moore, and grandmother, Lore Moore, discussing deed documents that Shane Moore wanted his sister to sign. Moore-Reed shouting an expletive when she learned her wounded uncle hadn?t immediately died.

A Southern Oregon woman who shot her maternal uncle and allegedly recorded the killing in the summer of 2016 will argue self defense, according to court documents filed in her murder case.

Aisling Tucker Moore Reed, 30, of Jacksonville, who has blogged, reported for the Grants Pass Daily Courier and written several books under the name “Tucker Reed,” will argue that the July 26, 2016, shooting of Shane Moore was justified because she was acting in self defense, the defense of third parties on the property, and to defend the premises, according to multiple filings made this week in Jackson County Circuit Court.

Under Oregon law, a person is only justified in using deadly force if they reasonably believe that the other person is threatening to physically harm another person, is in the act of attempting to burglarize a home or is about to use physical force, according to statutes cited by Reed’s defense lawyer Larry Roloff.

Reed’s family has claimed that Moore was a violent drug addict who had previously attacked her, and that Reed had obtained a restraining order against him after an alleged attack the year before.

Shane Moore and Reed’s mother, Kelly Moore, had been involved in a bitter property dispute surrounding property on Thompson Creek Road belonging to their mother and Reed’s grandmother, Lore Moore.

On the day of the killing, Shane Moore reportedly attempted to have Lore Moore sign over a portion of the property by calling in a mobile notary to the property, according to an iPhone video that surfaced during the investigation.

A two-week jury trial is scheduled to start May 4. A trial readiness hearing is scheduled for March 23.
