Nick White says his mom was at the family cottage in Honor, Michigan near Traverse City, about 200 miles from metro Detroit.

Adrienne Quintal made a frantic call to someone in Warren asking for help at 2:45 a.m. Thursday and that is the last anyone has seen or heard from her.
Woman goes missing in Benzie County

Nick White says his mom was at the family cottage in Honor Michigan near Traverse City when she went missing

"We had state police and the dog searching all through that morning," White said. "The next day we had a search party come out. My family and I also did a search as well."

They searched an area of Benzie County in Honor where the 47-year-old was staying at a home on Indian Hill Road. It is a place her son says she is quite familiar with, having gone there since she was a child.

"We have a family cottage," White said. "She was doing work on the house. She was also just getting ready for hunting and hanging out and enjoying the wildlife."

But according to the Benzie sheriff, Quintal called a friend in Warren asking for help. That person called law enforcement, who arrived at the cottage within 13 minutes.

There was no sign of Quintal but they did find signs of foul play. Her phone, purse, and car were still there on the property. The search began immediately.

White shared a map with FOX 2. The shaded area, he showed us, is where police searched. The other markings on the map indicate where family and friends have looked.

"We've covered most of the ground and haven't found her yet," he said.

Now, days later, he is trying to spread the word about her disappearance as far as it will go hoping someone with information comes forward.

"Even if it was a simple conversation at the tractor supply store," he said.

FOX 2 is told Quintal went up north with her boyfriend, but her son says that man came back to their place in Southfield on Tuesday, a couple days before she was noticed missing.

"He was up there with her, he came home to drop supplies off, we are working on the condo here," White said.

Michigan State police are helping Benzie County sheriff deputies in an effort to find this missing woman. Anyone with information should call state police.

Benzie County investigators have named a person of interest in the search for a missing woman.

According to the Benzie County sheriff, Adrienne Quintal's boyfriend has been a person of interest from the beginning, due to the fact he was the last person to see her.
The Michigan State Police, Benzie County deputies and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources launched a drone as part of the investigation to map the area and keep track of where they are searching.

Currently, investigators are searching about a half-mile radius all the way around the house.

Right now, Benzie County investigators are waiting on the results of forensic testing.

Those results should be back in the next few days.

"In any investigation the last person that sees somebody alive, we want to get as much information from them as possible. In the beginning, he was cooperative but has since not been cooperative and has retained an attorney which is fine that's all normal standard procedure," said Sheriff Ted Schendel. "We're continuing to investigate and take all of the puzzle pieces and put them together."

Michigan woman told friend she’d been in shoot-out with 2 men just before she disappeared

A woman who went missing from her family’s cabin in Northern Michigan in October had phoned a friend the day she disappeared, describing a dramatic shoot-out with two men.

The friend called police, but had given authorities an incorrect address for Adrienne Quintal’s family cabin. By the time police arrived at the right address some 40 minutes later, they found bullet holes in the cabin’s windows, but no one inside.

These were some of the new details in the case Benzie County Sheriff’s officials released today, after three weeks of searching for clues to Quintal’s disappearance.

The investigation began on Oct. 17, when Quintal, 47, of Warren, went missing from her family’s cabin in Honor. She’d called a family friend at 2:34 a.m. that morning. During that call, which police said lasted less than five minutes, Quintal told the friend that she’d been involved in a shoot-out with two men. She’d shot one of the men in the face, she said, and the other man was shooting at her. Quintal asked her friend to call the police.

At 2:42 a.m., Benzie authorities received a 911 call from Quintal’s friend, relaying the information and an address Quintal had given of 2900 Indian Hill Road. State Police and Benzie County deputies arrived at that address in less than 10 minutes, but realized it was not the correct address for Quintal’s cabin.

After contacting a relative of Quintal’s, police reached the right address, 4900 Indian Hill Road, by 3:15 a.m.

“Officers observed multiple bullet holes in the window of the cabin and searched the area around the cabin for any injured persons or evidence of injured persons,” police said today. “Officers set up a perimeter around the residence and requested additional police officers to the scene.”

Authorities forced their way inside the cabin, but found it empty.

They did find her cell phone, purse and a handgun registered to Quintal.

Police said they used dogs and a thermal imaging camera to comb the wooded area around the cabin, but found no sign of her.

No blood was found at the scene. Police said their initial investigation shows the bullets were fired from inside the cabin.

Authorities got a search warrant for the property. Evidence, including the spent shell casings, were sent to the state police crime lab for processing.
