Metairie man killed at Kenner warehouse

A Metairie man was killed Monday morning when he accidentally ran his forklift into a support beam causing 50-pound bags to fall on him, Kenner police said.

Kevin Smith, 40, was pronounced dead at Cross Road Centers warehouse at 30 E. Airline Drive, according to a police news release.

At about 9:23 a.m., Smith was operating a forklift in the warehouse and backed into a vertical support beam. The damage to the beam caused a shelving unit, containing numerous pallets of 50-pound bags of sugar, to collapse on top of Smith and the forklift, the release said.

The actual cause of his death has not been determined.

An autopsy will be performed on a later date, authorities said.

I just saw that movie the other day..maybe death is following him and his friends around now
