Jessi Combs (39) killed trying to set new speed record

Today brings about some very sad news as the world-renowned racer, metal fabricator, and television personality Jessi Combs has passed away at the age of 36. Known professionally as the "Fastest Woman on Four Wheels," Combs was attempting to surpass her previous land speed record when the 52,000 horsepower jet-powered car she was driving crashed in Oregon's Alvord Desert. "It may seem a little crazy to walk directly into the line of fire... those who are willing, are those who achieve great things," Combs wrote just days prior to the accident on her Twitter account in preparation for the stunt. She adds: "People say I'm crazy. I say thank you."

I am seeing conflicting ages (36 and then 39) so I am not 100% sure which is correct.

    A little more info:
Combs was born in Rockerville, South Dakota,[9] on July 27, 1980,[2] the daughter of Jamie Combs and Nina Darrington.[10][11][12] The family moved to Piedmont, South Dakota, when she was two years old.[9] She had three siblings, Kelly Combs, Austin Darrington, Danielle Theis, and two stepsiblings, Rebeka Hall and Arielle Hall. She graduated from Stevens High School in 1998.[9] A local publication in Rapid City reported that Combs' great-grandmother was Nina DeBow, a jazz pianist who raced Stanley Steamers.[12]

In 2004, Combs graduated from WyoTech in the Collision & Refinishing Core Program, as well as the Street Rod Fabrication and Custom Fabrication and High Performance Powertrain programs, all at the top of her class (she was briefly seen as a student of WyoTech during the sixth episode of the first season of Overhaulin). Following her graduation, Combs's first professional job came when the WyoTech marketing department hired her and another student to build a car from the ground up in six months to debut at the Specialty Equipment Marketing Association?s (SEMA) show.[4]

Combs was killed during a land speed record attempt as part of the North American Eagle Project on August 27, 2019, in the Alvord Desert, Oregon.[2]

Thanks Puzz! So it looks like the 39 is correct. I thought so, but wasn't 100% sure because multiple sources were also saying 36.

Well, you know how some people age at different rates... Look at Dick Clark.

What a talented, gutsy woman. Her dad was a student working for a friend of mine. I didn't know her, but I know a lot of people who did. She seems to have been really loved.
