JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WECT) - The suspect accused of fatally shooting a Pender County man in Jacksonville earlier this week is now in custody.

According to a news release from the Jacksonville Police Department, 24-year-old Tyquan Sykree Hayes of Jacksonville was arrested as he was leaving a hotel in Wilmington on Thursday.

?Jacksonville Police Department detectives with the assistance of the Wilmington Police Department, the FBI Safe Streets Task Force, and the State Bureau of Investigation were able to take Hayes into custody without incident,? the news release stated.

Hayes allegedly shot Da?shaun J. Pearsall, 23, of Willard, in the 1200 block of Davis Street in Jacksonville around 7:30 a.m Wednesday. Pearsall was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said both men knew each other.

Hayes is currently in the Onslow County Jail under no bond.
