Felony charges have been filed against a man who reportedly sold an $18,000 car for only $100.
The suspect?s mother recently rented a 2018 Toyota Corolla from Hertz Rental in Garner. She reportedly allowed her son, 27 year-old Joshua Kent Phillips of Zebulon, to borrow the car. Phillips is accused of selling the rental car for just $100 to an individual in Johnston County. He reportedly told authorities he didn?t know the person who bought the car.
Phillips was arrested Tuesday by the Johnston County Sheriff?s Office and charged with obtaining property by false pretenses. He was held under a $25,000 bond.
The Toyota has been entered as stolen in a law enforcement database. The vehicle, at last check, had still not been located.
