I think I hate this guy more than all the others for giving nazis exactly what they wanted. Truth is he was probably a spoiled rich kid faking leftist views for social cred, because if he'd ever believed a fucking word he was saying he never would've done this.

    Fuck you Connor Betts.

Connor Betts posted about Satan, politics, and guns on Twitter.

Connor Betts, the Dayton, Ohio mass shooter, was a self-described “leftist,” who wrote that he would happily vote for Democrat Elizabeth Warren, praised Satan, was upset about the 2016 presidential election results, and added, “I want socialism, and i’ll not wait for the idiots to finally come round to understanding.”

Betts’ Twitter profile read, “he/him / anime fan / metalhead / leftist / i’m going to hell and i’m not coming back.” One tweet on his page read, “Off to Midnight Mass. At least the songs are good. #athiestsonchristmas.” The page handle? I am the spookster. On one selfie, he included the hashtags, “#selfie4satan #HailSatan @SatanTweeting.” On the date of Republican Sen. John McCain’s death, he wrote, “F*ck John McCain.”

On Nov. 2, 2018, he wrote: “Vote blue for gods sake.”

“This is America: Guns on every corner, guns in every house, no freedom but that to kill,” he wrote in December 2018. And, “’Tis! The pistol is a Beretta 93R, called the REK7 in BO4. Do love me some guns!” He also wrote, “Hammer, brick, gun.” On Feb. 14, 2018, he tweeted this at Sen. Rob Portman: “@robportman hey rob. How much did they pay you to look the other way? 17 kids are dead. If not now, when?” That was the date of the mass shooting at a school in Parkland, Florida.

Authorities now say that Betts, 24, of Bellbrook, Ohio, donned body armor and a mask before shooting and killing 9 people outside a Dayton bar, including his own sister. At least 27 people were injured. Police say the motive is unclear. You can read tributes to the victims here.

“#2016ElectionIn3Words This is bad,” he wrote on Nov. 8, 2016. “You can’t kill 50+ people and injure 600(!) In 10 minutes with cigarettes my dude,” he wrote in 2017. In response to a Buzzfeed story that read, “Virginia has declared a state of emergency in anticipation of the “Unite the Right” rally anniversary in Charlottesville this weekend,” he wrote: “Kill every fascist.”

    *

His top post was a retweet of a person responding to a Huffington Post story. That person had written, “Millennials have a message for the Joe Biden generation: hurry up and die.”

    *

He shared a post that showed Donald Trump and referred to a global fascist movement:

    *

He also wrote that he enjoyed anime, railed against ICE and the industrial revolution, and made references to Satan. In May, he tweeted, “You’ll never be rid of me. I’ll haunt your life like a fucking vengeful spirit.” He added, “My Horoscope Just Reads ‘Doom.'” He shared posts of people outed for possibly being at a KKK rally in Dayton and wrote, “Know your enemies.”

    *
That’s all according to his Twitter page, which was reviewed by Heavy. The Twitter page gives the first public glimpse into the shooter’s politics, and what he wrote stands pretty much in polar opposite to accused El Paso shooter Patrick Crusius, whose own social media accounts indicated support for President Donald Trump and anti-immigrant measures, such as the border wall. You can read about Crusius’s pages here.

Here’s what you need to know about Connor Betts’ social media:

On Twitter, Betts Wrote About Politics, Guns & Anime

    Connor Betts

On the Twitter page, Connor Betts indicated he’d vote for Elizabeth Warren for president but not Kamala Harris, responding to a person’s tweet suggesting they be co-presidents. “Nahh, but only cuz Harris is a cop – Warren I’d happily vote for,” he wrote.

He responded to a person’s tweet that read “if you nominate anyone other than sanders, you’re going to lose” by writing, “I think Warren has a decent shot, as well.”

Some of his tweets referred to guns.

He shared an article that criticized Democratic leaders like Nancy Pelosi for not supporting Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar, and Ayanna Pressley. “Read it,” he wrote.

Some of his tweets were more philosophical. He wrote, “The time people say it is vs the time it feels like? I’m taking feelings over facts any time.” He was interested in the Area 51 Facebook page, writing, “There’s a fb group about storming area 51.”

He railed against the police, QAnon conspiracy theories, and white supremacists. “I love how older people will be like life has no safe spaces! Grow up!!! like we didn’t see the planes hit the twin towers when we were f*cking 5, we knew that the world was scary as soon as those f*cking towers came down my man,” he wrote.

    *

Some of his tweets dealt with drugs. He wrote, “Amphetamines: For When You Need To Get Shit Done!” On July 10, he wrote, “Black Parade was bigger, but Three Cheers was better.” Some of his tweets were anti-police. “The police will not protect you,” he wrote.

    *

He shared posts about “concentration camps” at the border and wrote, “Cut the fences down. Slice ICE tires. Throw bolt cutters over the fences.”

He retweeted a post from another person about stealing from “right wingers” at a Trump rally.

One of his tweets referred to white people. “Imagine if we did the thing you liked, but in a way that totally ruins what you liked about it! Wouldn’t that be fun? Ha ha Also, of course they’re all white people, of course they are,” he wrote.

When it comes to conspiracy theories, this one's got original material.

Some people with prosopagnosia have decided this shooting is being falsely blamed on a farmer called Conor D. Betts who died in Connecticut 5 yrs ago leaving several siblings, including a sister called Megan

Because never in the history of the world have there been multiple families with the same names.

Eh, there's weird & there's "voted most likely to become a school shooter or 40yr old incel" kind of weird. Whether he fits either of those descriptions remains to be seen, but not all weirds are equal

I'm calling bs on that Twitter. I bet he has been planning and setting this up for a while. He killed quite a few Black people, they could have been collateral damage, I. E. Were in the path of gun fire. Maybe his target was his sister? I don't know.

Three of the 18 patients transported to Premier Health hospitals are still being treated. One person is in serious condition and two others are in fair condition.

Kettering Health Network is continuing to treat six of the 12 patients brought to its facilities. Two patients are in fair condition and three are in good condition at Grandview Medical Center. Yeah, I wondered if it might've been fake, I think it's real though. I think he was one of those arseholes who go around making a thing of being a subversive leftist when beneath the surface, at best they're an uptight centrist harbouring racist, misogynistic beliefs, at worst they're everything they profess to hate.

They just usually expose their true nature in a less lethal way.

If he did deliberately target his sister & her boyfriend, I'm betting it was down to good old incel jealousy - how dare my little sister find love & happiness when I can't

Connor and Megan are the only two children of Stephen and Moira Betts of Bellbrook, Ohio, located around 15 miles south of downtown Dayton.

Here's a video of the shooter getting gunned down by police. At first it's a bunch of people running into the bar Ned Peppers. At the end he is running up to the door but a cop stops him from entering by shooting him. Holy shit. He was half a second away from getting inside.

I wonder about that Twitter account too. I feel like if it were real, more credible news sources would be reporting it.

If they arrived together how did she not notice the weapon and all the body armor stuff? Did he leave it in the trunk and then go back out and put it on?
I'm wondering this myself. Some rumors are that he shot her and the male friend in the car.

EXCLUSIVE: DAYTON SHOOTER WAS IN A "PORNOGRIND" BAND THAT RELEASED SONGS ABOUT RAPING AND KILLING WOMEN

By Daniel Newhauser Aug 6, 2019

Before he killed nine people in a mass shooting in Dayton, Ohio, early Sunday, Connor Betts was deeply involved in the misogynistic, male-dominated "goregrind" or "pornogrind" extreme metal music scene. It has a regional following in the Midwest and is known for sexually violent, death-obsessed lyrics and dehumanizing imagery depicting women.

Over the past year, the 24-year-old shooter occasionally performed live vocals in the band Menstrual Munchies, which released albums titled "6 Ways of Female Butchery" and "Preeteen Daughter Pu$$y Slaughter," with cover art showing the rape and massacre of female bodies. He also performed with a group called Putrid Liquid.

Now one of Betts' bandmates, Jesse Creekbaum, 25, is taking the recordings down. He says he's removing them out of fear the vulgar music he produced will make a cult hero out of the murderer, who was killed by police at the scene. He's also received death threats online because of his association with Betts.

Creekbaum, who has been writing and recording music under the name Menstrual Munchies for more than five years, says he did it mostly as a joke and now is sickened that Betts apparently took it all seriously.

"I feel shitty having let him be in the band, doing those lyrics," Creekbaum said. "Because I know, like, whereas I saw it as a joke - like, "Let's play this and we'll shock some people," and then the people that we know laugh - he didn't see it as a joke. He was like, "Fuck, yeah. We're gonna do this.""

"It's like, Jesus Christ, how much of this was like real life for him"? he said.

In addition to scrubbing the internet of the band's recordings, Creekbaum is reaching out to anyone who has hosted his songs or videos to ask them to remove those, too.

"It's like, Jesus Christ, how much of this was like real life for him?"

"I took it all down. I'm trying to get everyone I know to take all of it down," he said. "I don't want to be associated with it. I don't want it blowing up. I don't want him romanticized. I don't want any of this romanticized. I want people to erase him from history."

    THE PORNOGRIND SCENE
The Midwest pornogrind scene exists in an obscure pocket of the larger grindcore genre and consists of a handful of bands who often play shows to each other or to small audiences. Even better-known bands in the genre writ large, such as Germany-based Cock and Ball Torture, have just thousands of Facebook fans.

Menstrual Munchies often performed with other regional acts like Necro Cannibal Ass Grinder, Bill Nye da Nazi Spy, and Cunt Torch, playing festivals like the Pornfieldz of Illinoise Grindfest or a former venue in Columbia, Missouri, called UPS - Under the Porn Shop, named for its location beneath the Venus Adult Megastore, owned by the mother of fellow scenester Zach Walton, of the band Groin Mallet.

In a phone interview, Walton, who has booked Menstrual Munchies at that venue, said the pornogrind scene is tight-knit and that he and his friends have been devastated to learn what Betts did. But he doesn't believe the content of the music contributed in any way to his actions.

"It's just the music we love, you know, like, it's fun to play. It's energetic and there's nothing else like it. So we play it," Walton, 29, said. "And then we get people like this, who, you know, are fucking sick in the head, who get into our scene and ended up killing nine people and almost, you know, putting a bad name on our scene. And that's not fair for the rest of us."

Betts was not involved in any of the writing or recording and only performed as a live vocalist for Menstrual Munchies. Nevertheless, Creekbaum said he removed the band's Facebook, Bandcamp and YouTube pages from the web. But a saved version of the Bandcamp page found on the Internet Archive reveals the sexually violent and demeaning album titles and artwork.

Many of the band's songs are still active on other websites. The members of Putrid Liquid did not respond to a request for comment sent through their Bandcamp page, which is still active.

Creekbaum says he feels conflicted: On the one hand, he believes music and art do not cause people to commit murder, but on the other hand, he feels guilty for having associated with someone who carried out violence similar to the kind he portrayed in his songs.

Creekbaum said he contacted the Dayton police immediately after hearing the news, but said they hadn't replied to him, although he said the FBI visited his home on Monday to interview him.

    BETTS' BIZARRE BEHAVIOR
Looking back, there were clues something wasn't right with Betts. Betts was a loner and emotionally withdrawn, Creekbaum and others in the scene told VICE News.

Creekbaum said Betts once brought a handgun on a tour to Iowa and suggested to others that they rob some gas stations - something Creekbaum said he chewed Betts out for but didn't take seriously.

He said he and others had recently distanced themselves from Betts over his bizarre behavior, including talking in realistic terms about the violence depicted in the music, telling stories about his past methamphetamine use, and lying about having a criminal record.

He said Betts had also told them about a previously reported incident in which he was suspended from his high school for keeping a "hit list" and a "rape list" of classmates he wanted to commit violence against. And Betts had mentioned to Creekbaum that he was depressed. Still, Creekbaum said he did not think Betts was capable of this kind of slaughter.

"I think he decided that he was going to kill himself, and he was like, "I don't have the balls to do it" and he drew a gun," Creekbaum speculated.

The band hadn't been active since Creekbaum found out in July that Betts had contacted showgoers online after a recent gig and asked them to send him money on PayPal, something Creekbaum found obnoxious.

The music was created to be controversial, Creekbaum said, inspired by the work of shock-rock acts like the Mentors and GG Allin. He often played fully naked wearing an executioner?s hood. In a video, they can be seen performing in nothing but Santa Claus beards and hats.

And if the goal was attracting controversy, they succeeded. Creekbaum said even some of his close friends found the misogynistic imagery to be too much. Now, the music is sure to be examined in a national conversation as social critics point to toxic masculinity as a root cause of mass gun violence.

Betts' apparent political beliefs are also drawing scrutiny. He identified as an anti-fascist and slandered Nazis and gun violence in social media posts that have since been removed from Twitter and Facebook. Some on the political right have seized on that to infer his ideology was part of his motive.

The anti-fascist extreme metal band Neckbeard Deathcamp was quick to distance Betts from their scene.

    1565032667346-Screen-Shot-2019-08-05-at-30320-PM
"OH TURNS OUT THE DAYTON SHOOTER WAS LITERALLY CONNOR FUCKING BETTS," Neckbeard Deathcamp wrote in a since-deleted tweet. "I DON'T KNOW IF I WOULD USE THE TERM LEFTIST TO DESIGNATE ONE OF THE DUDES IN MENSTRUAL MUNCHIES. ANTIFASCIST SURE. BUT NOT GREAT WITH WOMEN."

"JUST ANOTHER DIME A DOZEN OHIO GRIND DUDE WHO CAPED PROGRESSIVE POLITICS WHILE TREATING WOMEN LIKE SHIT," the band continued in another tweet. The band followed up with a thread explaining they did not know Betts, although he did follow their account on Twitter.

Ryan Ward, of the Ohio-based Cunt Torch, a band that regularly played with Menstrual Munchies, likened the coming backlash to how Marilyn Manson and "South Park" were blamed for the Columbine shootings, although he acknowledged that it is somewhat different because a member of a band committed the heinous act, not just a fan.

Still, he says he finds it hard to believe the dehumanization portrayed in the music contributed to an environment in which Betts felt desensitized enough to commit actual violence himself, including shooting to death his own sister and her boyfriend, two of the victims of his rampage.

"Part of the music is you want to figure out ways to portray people as being dehumanized as much as possible or, you know, degraded. And sexual dehumanization and objectification is a big way of doing that," Ward said. "If for some reason the music he made or whatever, somehow did do that for him, I feel that it's an exception, not the rule when it comes to people making this music."

"I feel it's our responsibility to make it a point to let people know that, no, this is not what we actually stand for," he added. "Our songs aren't prophecies, you know, like, they're not fucking, ominous fucking messages that are supposed to come true. They're just songs."

Shame about the shit lyrics & even shitter vocalist because other than that it sounded pretty good.

Agreed it's on him. The "music" didn't cause this. Anymore than Rage causes school shootings. But. Just like Pot doesn't cause Meth, it's unlikely someone starts with Meth. They're going to start with the soft stuff (maybe Mom's xanax or Dad's pot)

High school classmates of the gunman who killed nine people early Sunday in Dayton, Ohio, say he was suspended for compiling a "hit list" of those he wanted to kill and a "rape list" of girls he wanted to sexually assault.

Connor Betts, 24, pictured in an undated photo. (Credit: CNN)

The accounts by two former classmates emerged after police have said there was nothing in the background of 24-year-old Connor Betts that would have prevented him from purchasing the .223-caliber rifle with extended ammunition magazines that he used to open fire outside a crowded bar. Police on patrol in the entertainment district fatally shot him less than a minute later.

Both former classmates told The Associated Press that Betts was suspended during their junior year at suburban Bellbrook High School after a hit list was found scrawled in a school bathroom. That followed an earlier suspension after Betts came to school with a list of female students he wanted to sexually assault, according to the two classmates, a man and a woman who are both now 24 and spoke on condition of anonymity out of concern they might face harassment.

"There was a kill list and a rape list, and my name was on the rape list," said the female classmate.

A former cheerleader, the woman said she didn't really know Betts and was surprised when a police officer called her cellphone during her freshman year to tell her that her name was included on a list of potential targets.

"The officer said he wouldn't be at school for a while," she said. "But after some time passed he was back, walking the halls. They didn't give us any warning that he was returning to school."

Bellbrook-Sugarcreek Schools officials declined to comment on those accounts, only confirming that Betts attended schools in the district.

The discovery of the hit list early in 2012 sparked a police investigation, and roughly one third of Bellbrook students skipped school out of fear, according to an article in the Dayton Daily News.

It's not clear what became of that investigation. Chief Michael Brown in Sugarcreek Township, which has jurisdiction over the Bellbrook school, did not return calls Sunday about whether his agency investigated the hit list.

Though Betts, who was 17 at the time, was not named publicly by authorities at the time as the author of the list, the former classmates said it was common knowledge within the school he was the one suspended over the incident.

Drew Gainey was among those who went on social media Sunday to say red flags were raised about Betts' behavior years ago.

"There was an incident in high school with this shooter that should have prevented him from ever getting his hands on a weapon. This was a tragedy that was 100% avoidable," he wrote on in a Twitter post on Sunday.

Gainey did not respond to messages from AP seeking further comment, but the name on his account matches that of a former Bellbrook student who was on the track team with Betts.

Former Bellbrook Principal Chris Baker said he "would not dispute that information" when the Daily News asked him Sunday about the hit list suspension. He declined to comment further to the newspaper and the AP was unable to reach him.

Betts had no apparent criminal record as an adult, though if he had been charged as a juvenile that would typically be sealed under state law.

"There's nothing in this individual's record that would have precluded him from getting these weapons," Dayton Police Chief Richard Biehl said Sunday.

Not everyone who went to school with Betts had bad things to say. Brad Howard told reporters in Bellbrook on Sunday that he was friends with Betts from preschool through their high school graduation.

"Connor Betts that I knew was a nice kid. The Connor Betts that I talked to, I always got along with well," Howard said.

Mike Kern, a customer at the gas station where Betts used to work in Bellbrook, said he hasn't seen Betts in about a year.

"He was the nicest kid you could imagine," always friendly, Kern said. "I never heard him talk about violence, say a racist word, or anything like that."

He said they sometimes played trivia at a bar near the gas station, and Betts often knew the answers on questions about current events and pop culture.

"He was real smart," Kern said. "He knew all the answers."

This writer says she broke up with him 2 mths before the shooting. She thought he was a gentle guy with mental health issues who shared her world view.

I don't think she should trust a single word he said around her, it's pretty obvious at this point that his was performing whatever role he thought would give him the fastest access to "sluts" in the circles he mixed in

Importantly though, she says she reached out to his mother to let her know he might react badly to their breakup. Seems no-one in his family thought to take his guns from him - I guess they may not have known he had them though

You do kinda have to wonder how many times his parents had someone reach out to them like that, or how often they witnessed red flags at home over the years though

My Ex-Boyfriend was the Dayton Shooter

This is not an excuse for Connor Betts. This is just the Connor that I knew.

    January 2019

Connor and I met in our Social Psychology class at Sinclair College. We bonded over the laughable conspiracy theories that our professor tried to preach as we walked to similar parking spots in the college parking garage. We also were very open about our mental illnesses from the very beginning. He told me that he had bipolar disorder and possibly OCD; that didn?t scare me, some of the sweetest people I know have those conditions. I told him that I have depression, generalized anxiety, and ADD. We bonded over depression humor, something that only people who have been in the throes of it really ever understand and find humorous. Joking about personal mental illnesses is one of the biggest coping tools in the mental health toolbelt.

So, when he started joking about his dark thoughts, I understood. Dark thoughts for someone with a mental illness are just a symptom that we have to learn how to manage. Joking about wanting to hurt people was just heard as, ?I have uncomfortable thoughts that are inappropriate to express, but I need to joke about them otherwise they?re too scary and real.? People who do not have a mental illness do not understand this sense of humor. They take it too far. But I didn?t, so he trusted me.

He trusted me with so much of his darkness that I forgot most of it. Another thing between mentally ill friends: the capacity to forget things can be a blessing if the person is telling you something in confidence. Forgetfulness equals trust. So, when people try to get mad about my gaps in memory, then they don?t understand why Connor would have trusted me with his secrets in the first place.

    March 2019

Connor and I kept our relationship on the down-low due to the polyamorous nature of it. I was engaged to another man while dating Connor, and all parties involved knew about the situation. Everything was consensual, even if it was a bit of an adjustment. Connor didn?t know that when I first asked him out for coffee, though. He didn?t drink coffee, so we went out for drinks that night instead.

We went to Bar Louie at The Greene Town Center in Beavercreek, OH. To our surprise, there was a red light/green light party going on. (For those not hip to the youngins culture, it?s a party where people where glow bracelets: red for stop, yellow for it?s complicated, and green for single and ready to mingle.) He initiated me to my first gin and tonic, and having anxiety, I sucked that puppy down fast. Throughout the night, he mingled with strangers, charming them with his big smile, baby blues, and intellect. I had more fun than I had in a while being with someone so outgoing and electric. We ended up getting into a political debate with a Republican. Connor really knew his stuff and he was impressed when I knew mine. Looking back on that debate was one of my favorite memories.

A couple of drinks later, Connor asked me if I saw the video of the synagogue shooting. As someone who makes a point to never watch those videos, I hadn?t. So, he pulled out his phone and I was too drunk to care that I was watching it. Thankfully the bar was too loud for me to hear what was going on. Connor gave me the play-by-play of what was happening. Even then, I did realize that that was a weird thing for a first date, but not too weird given the context of our class. In our Social Psychology class, we regularly got off-topic to talk about serial killers, Ted Bundy was a hot topic given all of the media attention he was getting. A psychology student being fascinated in the horrors of humans is not an abnormal thing. It weirded me out because it was definitely not my focus on psychology, but it wasn?t a weird thing in general.

By then end of the night, I was trashed from accidentally drinking too much from anxiety. He seemed way soberer than I was. So, we left my truck at the parking garage and he drove me home. On the way, I asked if it was a date. He asked what I wanted it to be. I told him that I asked him first. There was a pause. I told him I wanted it to be a date and explained that I?m polyamorous. He smiled and said that it was a date, then. We got to my apartment, and he walked me up. We lingered outside my door. I told him that I wanted to kiss him, but I wanted to kiss him sober. He chuckled and said that that was sweet. And we left it at that.
He was a perfect gentleman throughout our relationship. He never pushed me to do things I didn?t want to do. His biggest concern was that I was comfortable. Polyamory is confusing for everyone involved, but luckily he and my fiance at the time were both understanding and consenting.

Our relationship mostly consisted of us going out drinking and talking about our mental illnesses and him telling me about world tragedies and me talking about TV shows. There were a couple of moments, though that stuck out to me.

    March or April 2019

There was one night in March or April that he called me. He was out in Illinois playing a gig with his metal band, Menstrual Munchies, and he got super drunk. Most of the time I couldn?t understand what he was saying. Connor was naturally a mumbler with a low voice, but then to add drunk slurring on top of it definitely made it a struggle to understand him. I did catch bits and pieces among his topic jumping that he wanted to hurt a lot of people. He didn?t have any specific plans. I wrote it off as being a sad, drunk man who was afflicted by unchecked symptoms of mental illness. Under normal, sober circumstances, I didn?t believe he would feel like that.

    May 2019

The next red flag was the letter. We had plans to go grab lunch one day, and he asked if he could drop off a letter to one of his friends that had just moved into town. I said sure, that?s sweet. When we drove by the house, though, there was someone working in the yard outside. He pouted and said he wanted the letter to be a surprise. So, I suggested that we come back after lunch. And that?s what we did. Sure enough, there was still someone outside. I told him to just deliver it anyway, but he got frustrated. When I pushed the subject further he told me that that was his ex-girlfriend?s house that he found through a picture on her Facebook.

Then I asked to read the letter. I don?t remember the exact words, but it was something to the effect of ?Welcome to the neighborhood. You can?t outrun your past. Signed, Your Neighbor.? I asked him about that, about if he knew how messed up that was. He tried to downplay it as a joke. But I knew it wasn?t, so I pushed further. He admitted that sometimes he got uncontrollable urges to do things. The only other example of those urges that I remember is burning down an abandoned building with his friends. He told me that he always felt terrible afterward. I took that opportunity to try and show him a coping method. We pulled into a parking lot, jammed the letter in a hole under a parking block, and lit the letter on fire, watching it to make sure the pieces didn?t fly off and start a wildfire.

I knew then that I had to break things off with him, but I waited a few days to cool off. I wanted to wait until my fiance got back from a work trip, but then Connor started asking inappropriate questions. He texted me to ask how often my fiance and I had sex, to which I told him I wasn?t comfortable responding. Then he asked if I ever thought about killing myself. Now, we had spoken about suicide before. He knew that I had. This felt like he was trying to play mind games with me. In the gentlest way that I could, I told him that I didn?t think he was ready for a relationship in the mental state that he was in. He needed to do more work on himself and find more coping mechanisms so he didn?t become so dependent on other people. I didn?t have the emotional capacity to be his therapist, and that wasn?t my job. I just wanted to be his girlfriend and it was clear that he was not in a position that that was possible. He texted back a snarky reply to the effect of, ?I hope you find peace and never have to stress about anything again.? Honestly, it was a better reply than I had been anticipating.

I then reached out to his mother to tell her what happened. I wanted him to be safe and I didn?t know if he would tell her. I didn?t want this breakup to be a catalyst for unsafe behavior. But given that the breakup happened through text, there wasn?t a good gauge for how he was feeling.

    Continued ...

    August 2019 ? Present Day

Two-ish months later and the shooting happens. As someone who was in Orlando when Pulse happened, the news of the shooting didn?t hit me nearly as hard as it should have. Then I got a text from one of my old classmates from the class Connor and I shared. She asked if Connor was the shooter. I thought, ?What a weird question to ask.? Then my boyfriend Googled it. They had released the shooter?s name and his name was Connor Betts. Everything just stopped. I went numb. Then I started crying and I still didn?t have any feelings. I grabbed my phone. I needed answers. Google. It couldn?t have been Connor. Connor Betts isn?t a popular name, but it couldn?t have been him. 24-year-old from Bellbrook. It was him.

My ex-boyfriend was a mass murderer. My ex-boyfriend was a mass murderer. I still don?t know how to wrap my head around that. That man who was so sweet to me and told me he loved me was a mass murderer. I kissed a mass murderer.

I thought I had a decent judgment in character, but now I feel like my entire psyche needs to be scooped out and reevaluated under a microscope. I am beyond thankful that I have such a wonderful therapist to help me through this.

And then I found out about his sister. His sister. He liked his sister. Why would he kill his sister? He didn?t like his parents. But that couldn?t have been the cause. He was drunk at a bar and too impulsive for that to have been the cause.

I have no idea what his motivation was. I will never know. But there are a few things that I?m certain that it wasn?t. This wasn?t a hate crime. He fought for equality. This wasn?t a crime of passion. He didn?t get passionate enough. This wasn?t very premeditated. He wasn?t a thorough planner.

I also know that his getting shot is exactly what he wanted. He would have been the first one to tell you that he hated himself. He told me that twice he held a gun in his mouth ready to pull the trigger. He knew that he shouldn?t have been allowed to own a gun, even though he loved guns. He believed as I believe that people with mental illnesses shouldn?t be allowed to own guns because of people like him, people that turn into monsters. You don?t know which people with mental illnesses will be the rare few like him and who will be in the majority of the completely harmless. But putting a gun in their hand could spark thoughts that they would have otherwise never have thought of. It?s not a risk that we should take, no matter how fun shooting one is.

He knew he was the product of a failed system. A system that stigmatized mental health and recovery. A system that makes the mentally ill feel broken and unworthy of help. He didn?t want to seek help because of the stigma, he just wanted to better and he didn?t know how.

Dayton, Ohio Shooter Connor Betts' Driver Was His Best Friend Charles 'Chace' Beard, Who He Ended up Shooting

By ALLISON SCHONTER - August 6, 2019 11:17 am EDT

The second person in the 2007 Toyota Corolla that drove with Dayton gunman Connor Betts has been identified as his best friend, 24-year-old Charles 'Chace' Beard. Beard, who knew Betts from childhood and attended Bellbrook High School with him, was shot and critically wounded in the Sunday Dayton Shooting, though he survived and is recovering in the hospital.

Beard, an employee at Wright-Patterson Air Force base, according to his FaceBook profile, was in the chorus in a 2012 production of Rogers & Hammerstein's musical version of Cinderella with Betts, and there are numerous photos of them together. Despite their close relationship, Beard?s name is also said to be among those on Betts? ?hit list,? which he wrote while he was a sophomore at Bellbrook High School.

According to the Daily Mail, Beard and Betts? sister, 22-year-old Megan Betts, were dropped off in Dayton?s Oregon District the night of the shooting and were both ?among the first victims? shot when Betts opened fire with a .233-caliber rifle.

As a survivor of the shooting and as a sole survivor of the car journey in the hours leading up to the massacre, police are now considering Beard a key witness and the best chance at discovering Betts? motive. As of Monday, Beard was still recovering in the hospital, though he was said to be actively speaking with police amid their ongoing investigation.

As has previously been reported, Betts, 24, opened fire into the streets of the Oregon District, a busy scene for Dayton?s nightlife, at around 1 a.m. local time on Sunday. The shooting came less than 24 hours after a gunman entered a Walmart in El Paso, Texas, killing 22 and injuring dozens more. In the Dayton shooting, nine people were killed and more than 20 were injured.

Along with Betts? sister, the victims include Thomas McNichols, a father-of-four whose children ranged in age from 2 to 8 years old. ranged in age from 2 to 8 years old, a student at Saint Francis University in Loretto, Pennsylvania, was also killed. Lois Oglesby, who had welcomed her third child only a month ago, was also among the victims

    That porno stuff is horrible.

Also in the video it looks like (to me) he was shot from inside the pub. Does it look like that to any one else? It would take me too long to explain why I want to know plus, you would still think I'm insane. TIA

I’m surprised he had a girlfriend, but not surprised he was a cuck.

I’m glad his friend survived the shooting.

He was shot by a police officer in the street. You can see the cop near the top of the screen.

HRC Mourns Jordan Cofer, One of Nine Victims Killed in Dayton Mass Shooting
By Helen Parshall August 8, 2019

HRC is deeply saddened to learn that Jordan Cofer, a 22-year-old transgender man, was among the nine victims killed in a mass shooting in Dayton, Ohio, on Sunday.

Cofer, who is remembered by friends as ?extremely bright? and ?well-liked,? appears to have been out to a handful of close friends, including one who said in a message to Splinter News: ?He identified with he/him pronouns to people he trusted and knew would support him. Jordan was probably one of the sweetest people you would ever meet, a true saint ... He tried to give the best to everyone.?

Tragically, Cofer?s death is the 14th known case in which violence took the life of a transgender person in 2019. Of the more than 140 known transgender victims of violence from 2013 to present, approximately two-thirds of those killed were victims of gun violence.

His death is a tragic reminder that ending the epidemic of gun violence and mass shootings in the U.S. is integral to the fight for LGBTQ equality. When our communities are targeted -- from schools and nightclubs to movie theaters and shopping malls -- LGBTQ people, millions of whom live in communities across this nation, are also at risk.

Commonsense gun violence prevention measures endorsed by HRC include banning access to assault-style rifles, expanding background checks and limiting the ability for suspected terrorists and those with a history of domestic abuse to access guns.

According to Everytown for Gun Safety, more than 33,000 gun deaths happen every year.

Initial reports of Cofer?s death noted his deadname, as he was not widely out.

The shooting suspect was Cofer's sibling.

As we continue to mourn the lives lost in Dayton and El Paso, we urge our lawmakers to take a vote on H.R. 8 and other common sense gun violence prevention measures and protect communities across the U.S.

    https://nypost.com/2019/08/06/dayton...s-year-report/

Dayton mass shooter Connor Betts was reportedly spotted carrying a gun and protesting at a Ku Klux Klan rally earlier this year.

The 24-year-old was among the 500 to 600 counter-protesters who attended the May 25 event in opposition of the KKK, according to the Dayton Daily News.

He spoke briefly with a reporter ? wielding a semi-automatic, AR-style gun similar to the one he used in this past weekend?s shooting, the newspaper says.

Betts was wearing sunglasses and a bandanna at the time, which reportedly covered his face. There were only nine KKK members in attendance for the rally.

Betts, a registered Democrat who was said to have been pro-gun control, slaughtered nine people this past weekend and wounded dozens more outside a string of bars in Dayton. He was shot and killed by police.

Authorities have said that Betts ?was exploring violent ideologies? before the shooting. Former classmates described him as a sick and twisted individual, who often talked about torturing and killing people. He allegedly made ?hit lists? of students he wanted to rape and murder in high school and was also in a ?pornogrind? band ? which released songs about rape, murder, necrophilia and other gruesome acts against women.

?He knew it wasn?t normal,? recalled one student earlier this week.

?He would cry to me sometimes,? another said, speaking to The Washington Post. ?How he?s afraid of himself and afraid he was going to hurt someone one day. It?s haunting now.?

The “sister” of the Dayton, Ohio, shooter who was killed during the attack identified as a transgender guy — although his family had no idea, according to a report and some of his own social media posts.

Connor Betts’ 22-year-old sibling was named by authorities as Megan Betts in the days after the mass shooting, with cops releasing a statement saying relatives had lost “a daughter.”

But he apparently went by the name Jordan Cofer, and identified as a male, although he was only “out” to a small circle of friends, according to Splinter News, which spoke to several of those pals anonymously.

“Jordan was my closest friend,” one pal told the outlet. “He identified with he/him pronouns to people he trusted and knew would support him. Jordan was probably one of the sweetest people you would ever meet, a true saint, but he was also very scared constantly. He tried to give the best to everyone.”

One of his friends also confirmed to The Post: “I did know that he was indeed a trans man.”

On Sunday, the 24-year-old killer drove to a popular strip of bars and restaurants with Jordan — then made him one of the nine victims killed in the slaughter, officials said. Investigators have not yet identified his motive or whether his sibling was an intended target.

Nearly half of Americans expect another mass shooting in next 3 months: poll
But his gender likely didn’t play a role in his death because Betts had no clue about his brother’s trans status, a friend told Splinter News.

“Jordan told me in the past that he was not out to his family, but that could have changed in the past month as we barely spoke of the topic recently,” said the friend. “I do not believe that his gender identity had played a part in his death because of the fact that he wasn’t out to many people.”

In a Tumblr account that also appears to be his, Jordan describes himself as an “ace poly trans boy with a loving heart and way too much work to do,” according to the outlet, which confirmed that the account was legit through a friend.

He also used the name Jordan on his Instagram and Twitter page, where he referred to himself at one point as a “guy.”

“I’m a Samsung guy but I just downloaded iTunes and got an Apple ID,” he wrote in an innocuous tweet to a pal in 2016.

Dayton police and several other friends of Jordan didn’t immediately return requests for comment Friday. But police said earlier this week they were not aware of his gender identity, according to Splinter News.

I haven't heard anything about the sister being a trans male. Not sure what to think of it considering the sources.

This morning, a friend and I took a walk at Woodland Cemetery. It's huge, gorgeous, an arboretum, and where all the famous Daytonians (Wright bros, Paul Laurence Dunbar, Erma Bombeck, etc.) are buried. The crematorium was operating which is something neither of us had seen before despite visiting there frequently. A worker told us the funeral services for victim Lois Oglesby were being held in a couple hours. It was... heavy.
