21-year-old Alexander Whipple is named as a person of interest.

Police in Logan, Utah, are continuing their search for a 5-year-old girl who disappeared from her family?s home over the weekend.

Elizabeth Shelley was last seen at home by her mother on Saturday at 2 a.m., according to Logan City Police Captain Tyson Budge.

Eight hours later, police were alerted that the girl was missing.

Also missing from the home that morning was 21-year-old Alexander Whipple, Elizabeth?s uncle, who police say is the main suspect in the case. He had come to the family?s home for a visit on Friday night and was last seen around the same time as his niece.

Whipple was located Saturday and arrested on a warrant for a probation violation, police said. He was booked into Cache County jail and was being held Sunday on $25,000 bond. Elizabeth was not with him when he was found, police said.

Budge, the police captain, told CNN the case is ?not going to end well.?

In a post on Facebook, Logan City Police called Whipple ?uncooperative? and said that FBI and local agencies had been working to finish search warrants and follow up on leads. They said they could not release all details relevant to the investigation but that the search for Elizabeth was ongoing.

?We know there are many who want to help and there are some who think they are helping by posting their concern about the perceived lack of details of this investigation,? the post reads.

?They do not have all the information because we cannot release everything pertinent to this investigation,? police added. ?There are many agencies in a coordinated effort working around the clock and will continue to work until she is found. We will update Facebook as information becomes available.?

Logan is about 80 miles north of Salt Lake City, near the Idaho border.

I was trying to hold on to hope that she was alive, but I had a feeling she was gone. I cannot imagine having a relative kill my kid. This poor family.

    Here is an Update

LOGAN, Utah — The Cache County Attorney’s Office has filed two additional charges against Alex Whipple, the man accused of kidnapping and murdering his niece, 5-year-old Elizabeth Shelley, last month.

Whipple now faces charges of rape and sodomy upon a child, both first-degree felonies.

Police said Elizabeth was last seen at a home in western Logan at 2 a.m. on Saturday, May 25, and she was reported missing eight hours later.

Elizabeth’s uncle, 21-year-old Alex Whipple, had arrived at the home Friday evening. He and Elizabeth were both gone by 9 a.m. Saturday.

Cache County deputies located Whipple around 3 p.m. Saturday and took him into custody for a probation violation and possession of drug paraphernalia.

On May 29, Alex Whipple was charged with aggravated murder, child kidnapping and obstruction of justice in connection with Elizabeth’s disappearance and death. On that day, Whipple gave his attorney information about the location of Elizabeth’s body in exchange for the removal of capital punishment as an option for his potential punishment.

Police recovered Elizabeth’s body from the location Whipple indicated on May 29 and confirmed the body was hers on May 30. She was laid to rest on June 4.

Wow. Definitely not the type of shit you'd expect of your family. I wonder if he had been doing stuff to her already or just took his chance that night. He didn't have to kill her too. Good Lord. Poor baby.

A lot of people come from abusive bacgrounds, myself included, but many of them turn their lives around and vow never to be the kind of people their parents were. Rape and sodomy as well? FFS! The guy's a monster and nothing excuses that!
