Key West Digger has passed away - April 2019

Our old school mds member Key West Digger has passed away. He was in Ill health and had been in a nursing home for quite some time.

He was always so kind and friendly to everyone. I loved hearing his stories about the funeral home industry.

    Rest In Peace, KWD.

    RIP KWD.
He was always such a nice guy, and he will be missed. I loved his insights into the funeral industry, and asked him many questions, and he was always happy to provide his knowledge.

He was so super sweet and was always very careful about how he posted. He was so informative about the mortician questions we always had and just about every holiday would stop by my profile and wish me a good one. It was wonderful to get to know him on FB the last couple of years. I didn't always see eye to eye with him on some of his beliefs, but he was always respectable so made it easy for me to just agree to disagree.

    We'll miss you KWD!

Ron was such a kind man. He was more of like a dad to so many. I will never forget his little jokes about me and my mud running or how i look with or without mud caked on me. He was very sincere and sweet and he would also be one of the first to recognize other member's birthdays and start birthday threads.

LOVED when he would tell us mortuary stuff all while still being so respectful to that persons life and death.

    Very sad news indeed.

When I saw that he was admitted to a nursing home I KNEW that this wasn't something he'd be happy about. His connection on all social media stopped. Everything online did.

I think he gave up and I'm not against that, sad as it is.

He was good people and I'm more sad that we won't have him here to comment on anything.

I was surprised when I saw he was in the nursing home because I didn't realize he had serious health issues. He'd never mentioned them to me, and I feel bad for not knowing the extent of what was wrong.

I understand the giving up. If I were in that position, I'd be absolutely miserable. If I lost my Independence and had to be taken care of, my life would just stop.

I hate that he had to go through this at all. He was such an amazing, vibrant guy. I'm really going to miss him.

I don't think I ever interacted with him but I definitely read a lot of his older posts. Had no idea about his health and nursing home situation. Glad to know he is at peace but still sad a life is gone....RIP KWD.

I hate that there's a thread for us to eventually end up the subject of, though in a really perverse way, I'm also hella glad.

We talk about the things we read and the articles we share because these things like "death" just haven't happened to us yet, and we don't see it happening anytime soon. The problem is that for most of us, we just won't know when our last breath will come, when our heart will beat for the very last time.

I'm late to this party because, just like with those before him, his passing hurts. Not because I knew him very well, no. But because he was a loved, appreciated and valued member of this online community. And those of us who have been around awhile know just how much that means. He was a good guy, and not just here. Seeing him on fb happy and smiling, whether he was working or with his family, always made me smile.

KWD, I hope that paradise awaits you, and that you spend eternity enjoying every moment. And don't worry, we won't ever forget you. That's a promise.
