Aranda Briones (16) missing from Moreno Valley, CA since 1/13/19

    https://ktla.com/2019/01/23/update-e...y-with-friend/

Family members say Briones spent that Sunday with a male friend she knew from school, but she hasn?t been seen or heard from since. Horstkotte said it's especially worrying since she's usually active on social media and always communicates with her phone.

The friend told police he dropped Briones off at Moreno Valley Community Park, located at 13380 Frederick St., sometime between 6 and 6:30 p.m.

However, despite there being several surveillance cameras in the park, investigators say they have yet to find any signs Briones was ever there.

"They pulled footage, and they don't know if the time was wrong, but it looks like nobody was dropped off between 6 and 6:30," her brother, Daniel Briones, told KTLA on Tuesday.

The male friend told family members that Aranda Briones got into a gray, four-door sedan when he left her at the park. Daniel Briones told KTLA the family doesn?t know anyone with a car like that.

One possible clue came from a female friend, Daniel Briones said. The friend used Snapchat?s map feature and came up with a location in Rubidoux. When the friend texted to ask why she was there, Aranda Briones? phone turned off, and hasn?t been turned back on since.

Moreno Valley police said both their anti-human trafficking team and the FBI have been involved in the search. The Riverside County Sheriff's Office has also been involved in trying to locate Briones.

"Nine days on a missing person case -- obviously with each passing second, each passing minute, each passing day -- from a law enforcement standpoint, we don't like it," Riverside County Sheriff Sgt. Chris Willison told KABC.

Briones is about 5-foot-4 and 110 pounds with brown hair, hazel/green eyes and a pierced septum. She was wearing a white and blue jacket and dark jeans.

Hmmm. I wonder who the friend was, that dropped her off. Not sounding very good. I hope she's found soon, and safe!

This fella is linked to her page and based on comments I think he's the dad, or another close relation, and I am sure he's gonna kill anyone who lays a hand on her so RIP to that guy.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department on Wednesday, Jan. 23, asked for any information “big or small” that could lead investigators to missing Moreno Valley teenager Aranda Briones.
At the same time, a new phone number that will act as a clearinghouse for tips was established: 951-486-6731. An investigator will answer until midnight each day, and callers can leave a voicemail at other times. Any clues to her whereabouts are being sought, Sgt. Chris Willison said.

Sheriff’s explorers went to businesses Wednesday, distributing flyers with Aranda’s description: 16 years old, 5-foot-4 and around 110 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. She is believed to be wearing a white and blue jacket, a dark colored shirt and dark jeans. She also has a septum piercing.

Aranda is classified as a missing person and not as a runaway, Willison said.

    An unfortunate update.

MORENO VALLEY, Calif. (KABC) -- Two people have been arrested in connection with missing Moreno Valley teenager Aranda Briones, booking records show.

The Riverside County Sheriff's Department booking information shows that Owen Skyler Shover, 18, was arrested on suspicion of murder, and Gary Anthony Shover, 21, was arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder and conspiracy to commit a crime.

There was no bail information listed for the two men, who were both arrested in Monday. Though the two have the same last name, the relationship between the men was not immediately known. The relationship between the two and Aranda was also not known.

Aranda was last seen on Sunday, Jan. 13 near the Moreno Valley Community Park at Frederick and Cottonwood , according to her brother, Daniel.

She was dropped off there to be with one of her friends and she was last seen getting into a gray four-door car, but the family isn't sure who was driving.

Aranda is 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighs about 110 pounds, has brown hair and hazel/green eyes and has a unique mark on her chin. She also has a nose piercing. She was last seen wearing a white and blue jacket, a dark shirt and dark jeans.

The Riverside County Sheriff's Department is following up with a number of leads, and investigators are searching through footage of Moreno Valley's citywide camera system.

Anyone with information can contact Investigator David Drexler at the Moreno Valley Police Department at (951)486-6700 or the Riverside County Sheriff's Department after hours dispatch at (951)247-8700.

Police believe missing California teen Aranda Briones was murdered, and have arrested two brothers in her presumed death.

Owen Skyler Shover, 18, and Gary Anthony Shover, 21, were “arrested for the murder” of Briones, according to a statement from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

At a press conference Tuesday, Riverside County Sheriff’s Lt. Chris Durham said officials received evidence that led them to believe Briones, 16, who was last seen on Jan. 13, was murdered. “I don’t know what was taken from their backyard, but I do know evidence was collected that confirmed that [she] was the victim of a homicide,” Durham said.

According to the victim’s family, she and the two suspects were high school friends, KTLA reported.

I'd assume the 21 year old wasn't a high school friend since unless the dude failed a few years.

No bail has been set for 18-year-old Owen Skyler Shover and 21-year-old Gary Anthony Shover, who were each arraigned Friday morning after the first attempt was postponed two weeks ago.

The brothers are suspected of killing Aranda Briones, the 16-year-old who disappeared in mid-January, according to the Riverside County District Attorney's Office. Her body still has not been found, but officials said there is evidence indicating the teen was killed.

In addition to the murder charge, the brothers each face the special circumstance allegation that they "killed the victim while lying in wait," according to the charging document.

Their next scheduled court date is March 28.

Lightbulb Wondering more information on the murder

Been thinking about this case more and done some research but can't get to the bottom of it and I'm hoping someone will respond here.
Finding out one of the boys was her previous friend but her body has never been found. Wondering how exactly they killed her, what kind of foul play was involved and where she is now. Very curious only love and respect.

Girl's Body Still Missing, But Court Proceedings Continue

A preliminary hearing is set next week for two brothers accused of killing a 16-year-old Moreno Valley girl whose body has yet to be found.

Gary Anthony Shover, 25, and Owen Skyler Shover, 21 — both of Hesperia — were arrested in 2019 for the alleged slaying of Aranda Briones.

Both defendants are being held without bail at the Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta and are charged with murder and a special circumstance allegation of lying in wait.

The preliminary hearing for the pair is scheduled for April 6 at the Riverside Hall of Justice and will determine whether there's sufficient evidence to warrant a trial.

According to Riverside County sheriff's officials, the brothers were identified as suspects in Briones' disappearance and death following a weeks-long investigation that ended in February 2019, when the siblings were taken into custody without incident at their residence on Grevillea Street, near Old Ranch Road.

Briones was last seen Jan. 13, 2019, in Moreno Valley Community Park at the intersection of Cottonwood Avenue and Frederick Street, where she had been visiting with friends and relatives.

The young woman's case was included this week in the California Department of Justice's featured missing persons circulars, available at https://oag.ca.gov/missing/featured/children. State authorities asked anyone with information about her disappearance to contact the Riverside County Sheriff's Department at 951-486-6700.

Sheriff's Lt. Chris Durham said in 2019 that Owen Shover, a friend of hers from Moreno Valley High School, was the last person to have seen her alive.

Durham said investigators spoke to Shover, who claimed he had dropped Briones at the park, where she was picked up by somebody in a four-door sedan. But Durham said that surveillance cameras from the area undercut Shover's story.

"The camera system was reviewed, and ultimately it destroyed the timeline that he provided," Durham said at the time.

A neighbor of the Shovers told reporters in February 2019 that she observed investigators digging in the backyard of the brothers' home, where they unearthed clothing and blankets.

"Evidence was collected that confirmed ... Miss Briones was the victim of a homicide and points at these two brothers," Durham said.

A possible motive for the alleged slaying has not been disclosed.

In the weeks following her disappearance, the girl's loved ones distributed flyers throughout the city and surrounding locations bearing her photograph and other information. However, detectives have still not determined where her remains might be located.

The defendants have no documented prior felony convictions.
