TARPON SPRINGS, Fla. (WFLA) - Police say a death investigation involving more than one person is underway in Tarpon Springs.
While they're being rather secretive about the crime, we do know there is more than one victim.
Tarpon Springs police say the New Year's Day investigation is happening at a home in "The Meadows," a 55 and older mobile home park on Juanita Way.
Police tell News Channel 8 they were called to the home for a welfare check around noon and found "more than one person" dead inside under suspicious circumstances.
Officers who went inside found more than one victim in the home, backed out, then waited for a search warrant.
Other people who live in "The Meadows" aren't used to seeing the crime scene tape, numerous police officers and Pinellas County forensic investigators.
"It's very frustrating. It's a very quiet, very nice mobile home park," Grant Persel said. "Needless to say, we never had anything like this."
Tarpon Springs police are assuring neighbors there isn't a mad killer on the loose.
"I would not say that there is a community safety issue," said Sgt. Robert Faugno.
Neighbors tell us a 71-year-old man lives in the home with a woman who looked to be in her late 50s or early 60s. We're told both have health issues.
Neighbors say they've seen the woman out walking her three little dogs.
George Marsano enjoys riding his bike around the park. He's sad to hear about the deaths.
?Whatever happened, I hope it's amongst themselves (and) it's not a stranger that just rolled around," he said. "It doesn't make anybody feel safe. If it's amongst themselves, family dispute."
All police will say at this point is the deaths are suspicious. A preliminary check of "calls for service" to the home didn't show any patterns.
