The actress, who plays the Doctor’s assistant in the hit BBC sci-fi drama, enjoyed a night of partying before returning to her swanky Manhattan hotel The Ace which her and co-star Matt Smith were put up in during a stint of promotional work in the city.
But by the time the end of the night came, Gillan had perhaps had too much to drink as she appeared to get confused as to where her hotel room was after she was found curled up in a ball, naked, by a fellow hotel guest.
According to the Daily Mail, she was ‘whimpering’ in the corridor at around 7am before security eventually arrived to wrap her up in a towel and take her back to her hotel room.
The guest who found her told the newspaper: ‘I went to the peephole and looked out. I saw a man at the lift who was looking back at someone who was attempting to open my door… the next thing I saw was a woman giving this person at my door two towels before getting into the lift and leaving.
‘Then I saw this young woman, completely naked, trying to wrap two towels around her and not having much luck.
‘She then started to whimper and knock on my door. Seeing that she wasn’t getting anywhere, she lay down with the towels covering her.’
It wasn’t until later that security arrived and were able to shield her from any more embarrassment.
According to the newspaper, last night a BBC Worldwide spokesman said: ‘We’re unaware of this alleged incident.’ Miss Gillan’s spokesman also declined to comment.
