A Beavercreek woman whose husband was shot in Riverside days before her stepson Jacob Lee Caldwell went missing from Sugarcreek Twp. said she?s still hopeful the 14-year-old boy will be found.

In March, the FBI issued a $15,000 reward for information directly leading to Jacob?s location. But asked if there are any new details in the case, Sugarcreek Twp. Police Department detectives ? the local agency handling the case ? said no new information was available to share with the public.

Jacob and his two siblings saw their father, Robert Caldwell, fatally shot in a Riverside parking lot at Woodman Drive and Linden Avenue in broad daylight, investigators said.



Two days later, on Aug. 21, Jacob went missing. His grandparents, who were given custody, reported him lost.

The FBI has said Jacob might not be in Ohio and said he might have a new look and identity. Authorities also said they believe someone knows the teen?s location.


Jacob?s mother and Robert Caldwell?s ex-wife, Tawnney Caldwell, is among several people charged in relation to Caldwell?s death .


The alleged shooter, Sterling Roberts, was captured in South Carolina and faces federal charges in Ohio. Already, Roberts pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in South Carolina to a charge of knowingly and unlawfully possessing a firearm, according to court documents.

The charges against Tawnney Caldwell relate to aiding and abetting the illegal gun possession. She is also accused of destroying documents and cell phone data. She is held in Shelby County Jail. Her attorney did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

A grand jury also indicted four other people, who are released from jail.

Candice Caldwell ? Jacob Caldwell?s stepmom and Robert Caldwell?s wife at the time of his death ? told News Center 7 she can?t believe it?s been almost a year since Robert was killed. The pair were married less than a year, but had been together for six years. During that time, Ezekiel, 4, and Bailee, 2, were born.


?Me and the kids were his entire world,? she said. ?He really was the type of man any woman would want to be with.?

Reflecting on her husband?s untimely death, Candice Caldwell said, ?I don?t wish bad upon anyone, but you can?t go be mad at someone and take their life away from their wife and kids. That?s not OK.?

She said she prays Jacob is safe and says her faith will keep her strong as the case moves through the court system. Still, she remains saddened her husband and stepson are not with her young family.

?It tears me apart that they?re building this relationship with their older siblings, and Jacob is not here,? she said. ?I would love to have my husband here, but I know I?ll see him again, and that is where my trust lies.?

Federal prosecutors and local law enforcement announced the reward to locate Jacob Lee Caldwell, who saw Robert Caldwell, his father, killed in August 2017. Jacob?s mother, Tawnney Caldwell, was indicted in connection with her ex-husband?s death, according to prosecutors today.

Six people have been indicted on charges connected to the August 2017 killing of Robert Caldwell, of Beavercreek, who was killed in Riverside in front of his three children.

One of the man?s children, Jacob Lee Caldwell, is missing and the FBI today announced a $15,000 reward for information leading to his recovery.


Those indicted in connection to Robert Caldwell?s death include Sterling H. Roberts, 34, and Tawnney M. Caldwell, 33, of Centerville, both charged with murder. Also charged are:

Chance P. Deakin, 25, of Dayton;
Christopher C. Roberts, 30, of Dayton;
James T. Harmon, 55, of Burlington, Ky.; and
Chandra D. Harmon, 54, of Burlington, Ky., according to a media release.

Sterling H. Roberts and Tawnney M. Caldwell are charged with death penalty-eligible crimes, according to the FBI.

Tawnney Caldwell is Robert Caldwell?s ex-wife and mother of his three children, who all witnessed the shooting death of their father.

?According to the six-count indictment, from August 1 to August 5, Sterling Roberts cyberstalked Robert Caldwell via cell phone through the assistance of Tawnney Caldwell,? reads the press release.

The firearm used in Robert Caldwell?s murder was possessed illegally by Sterling Roberts, who ?traveled interstate to stalk and murder Robert Caldwell,? according to the FBI.

The charges against Tawnney Caldwell, Deakin, Christopher Roberts and James Harmon relate to aiding and abetting the illegal gun possession.

Tawnney Caldwell is also accused of destroying contents and data of a cell phone.

?Tawnney Caldwell and Chandra Harmon also allegedly conspired to intimidate and threaten witnesses related to the case in November 2017,? reads the FBI media release.

Other charges in this crime include stalking, with a potential sentence of up to life in prison; discharging a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence, death penalty or life in prison; tampering with evidence, up to 20 years in prison; and tampering with a witness by intimidation, up to 20 years in prison.

Sterling H. Roberts has been in custody in South Carolina since August 2017. The others were arrested in late February 2018.

The six individuals, who have not been identified, were indicted by a grand jury, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

The shooting death happened at the Claypool Building on Linden Avenue on Aug. 19.

Robert Caldwell?s son Jacob Caldwell has been missing in the days following the shooting. Sugarcreek Twp. police had said the boy?s mother had been uncooperative in their investigation.


The U.S. Department of Justice has announced an afternoon press conference, where additional details are expected to be released.

MIAMI VALLEY, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - It's been just more than a year since Robert Caldwell was murdered in front of his children, and his 15-year-old son Jacob Caldwell went missing just days later.


Now, new billboards will be used to help get the word out. Jacob was last seen in Sugarcreek Township on August 21, 2017. He was wearing a dark shirt, blue shorts and black shoes.




Federal investigators are worried about Jacob's safety. If you know where he is, call Sugarcreek Township Police at 937-310-3200.

Six people have since been indicted in connection with Caldwell's death, including his ex-wife.

Jacob Caldwell, Ohio Boy Reported Missing 1 Year Ago, Found Safe by Police

More than a year after his grandparents reported him missing, Ohio teen Jacob Caldwell has been found safe, police said Tuesday.

Now 15, the boy had disappeared just days after witnessing the fatal shooting of his father, allegedly by his mother's boyfriend. Robert Caldwell was killed on Aug. 15, 2017, in a parking lot after leaving a therapy session with his three sons, authorities said.

His ex-wife, Tawnney Caldwell and boyfriend Sterling Roberts were later charged in connection with Robert's murder, police said. Both have pleaded not guilty and are in jail awaiting trial. Friends and relatives of Tawnney were also indicted on aiding and abetting charges.

Jacob's parents had been involved in a bitter custody dispute that ended with Robert being awarded sole custody of the three boys about a month before his death, authorities said.

Acting on a tip, police went to a house in Miami Township, where Jacob was found sleeping in the basement, Sugarcreek Township Police Chief Mike Brown told InsideEdition.com Tuesday. Four adults were living in the home, all of them friends with Jacob's mother, he said.

The boy was in good physical condition, but didn't say much, the chief said. Jacob is being evaluated at a juvenile detention center, where he will be held until he is returned to his paternal grandparents, who were awarded custody of him and his brothers after their father was killed.

The four adults may face criminal charges, Brown said. The boy appeared to have been staying in the home of his own free will, but was not going to school, the chief said.

"Someone talked him into running away," he added.
