An Arlington man was struck and killed early Saturday while walking along Northeast Loop 820 in Fort Worth, police say.

Lauren Hanohano, 27, was struck on the westbound freeway near Blue Mound Road about 5 a.m., records show.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner's office.

A family friend said Hanohano worked in construction but was not on the job at the time of the accident. Police have not explained why he was on the road.

The driver who hit him stopped after the deadly crash, police said.


A GoFundMe page has been set up by Hanohano's family to pay for his funeral.

"No one was prepared for this," the page says. "He left us ALL way too soon."

It was the fourth deadly crash involving a pedestrian in the city since early last month, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
