This poor kid. Its cold here. He wasnt reported missing until 5:30 Thursday evening. How does a school not notice that a kid isn't there all day long, let alone a child with autism who would need extra attention?

Rochester police and a small army of volunteers plan to resume their search Sunday for Trevyan Rowe, a 14-year-old with autism who has been missing since Thursday morning.
The Rochester Police Department's SCUBA team, which previously looked for Trevyan in a pond, may search areas of the Genesee River on Sunday if they believe conditions make the operation safe and useful.Trevyan arrived by bus at School 12 at 999 South Avenue Thursday morning but did not enter the building. He was seen on surveillance footage at 7:30 a.m. walking on South Avenue, officials have said.
At the briefing Saturday night, Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren said every location in and around the school has been searched at least three times. Warren added that the hundreds of volunteers helped police search an area that would normally take authorities alone weeks to look.
She sounded solemn but tried to remain hopeful.
"We are well aware of the weather conditions and the likelihood of survival if Trevyan is not currently in a safe, dry, and warm location," Warren said.
Public and private schools that serve students with autism and other developmental disabilities are required to have plans to prevent them straying from school grounds and to search for them if they do.
It is not clear if School 12 has such plans or if they were activated.
Trevyan's absence apparently was either not noticed or not acted on properly by school officials. He was not reported missing to police until about 5:30 p.m. Thursday."He's never done something like this before," said Trevyan's cousin Detoya McCoy of Rochester. "We think a trigger that set this off was him losing his cellphone."
McCoy said it appeared that Trevyan lost his phone on the way to school and with it missing, became upset and did not follow his normal routine.
"Instead of going into the school, he turned right going down South Avenue and started walking," she said, citing surveillance video in the area.
Trevyan traveled to school on Thursday with his younger sister, who did not immediately notice her brother veer off course.
The youth was last seen wearing was a black Nautica coat with a fur collar, jeans and red sneakers. He weighs about 140 pounds. A missing persons report listed his height at 5 feet, 6 inches tall, but according to a family member at a news conference Friday he is about 5-10. McCoy said police informed the family that at about 5:15 p.m. Thursday, they had received a 911 call from a child saying he was lost in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Family members said Trevyan may have had his brother's phone, enabling him to make such a call. The identity of the child caller was not confirmed, however.
"Before you approach him call 911, and tell them where you are. If you can't get to him, follow him," said Rosner, instructing volunteers before the search.
