Australian woman Alison Raspa (25) was found dead in semi-frozen Canadian lake, four months after she disappeared

A police dive team is searching the waters of a lake in Whistler for any clues in the disappearance of a 25-year-old woman.

Alison Raspa was last seen late Wednesday night leaving the Three Below Bar.

RCMP say an item identified as belonging to her was found in Alpha Lake Park the following morning, which set off the search of a nearby lake by the force?s underwater recovery team.

Staff Sgt. Annie Linteau says police are concerned about Raspa?s well-being and would like anyone with information about her movements after she left the bar.

The woman was reported missing Thursday by co-workers when she failed to show up for work.

Police say they?ve contacted her family and friends and are offering them support.

Search of lake in Canada fails to find any trace of missing Perth woman Alison Raspa

A search of a near-frozen lake and surrounding park in Canada where missing woman Alison Raspa's mobile phone was discovered has failed to reveal any clues about where the 25-year-old could be.
Canadian media report police have been searching underground parking lots, creeks and parks and reviewing security camera footage, but are yet to find any trace of the former Greenwood High School student.

News outlet Whistler Question said police were very concerned for Alison's well-being.

"We ask anyone who may have any information as to Alison's movements from the time she was last seen leaving the Three Below Bar and the time her personal item was located at Alpha Lake Park on November 23 at 6.30am to call police immediately."

DISTURBING rumours about the fate of a missing Australian backpacker are sweeping the Canadian ski resort of Whistler, where the young woman vanished 12 days ago.

Alison Leanne Raspa, 25, was last seen leaving the Three Below Restaurant and Lounge in Whistler Village at 11.30pm on Wednesday, November 22.

The next day, police found some of her personal belongings, understood to include a mobile phone, 5km away at Alpha Lake Park at Creekside Village. News.com.au understands Ms Raspa?s backpack was also located.

Rescue workers and Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) divers equipped with sonar technology searched the lake and surrounding areas but failed to find any further trace of her.

Ms Raspa?s devastated mother and brother flew into the world-famous resort last week to join locals in a massive search effort over the weekend.

They have so far refused all media requests but an insider receiving regular updates from Ms Raspa?s mother told news.com.au the family had been told she was ?upset? about ?something that happened at work? before she went missing.

?Police are looking through the camera footage where Alison works so they can observe her on a day-to-day basis in the days before she disappeared,? the insider said.

?Alison?s mother has been told that she was upset about something to do with work so police are looking for clues on the (CCTV) tapes.?

The source also claimed the family had heard that something had occurred outside the Three Below bar and lounge on the night she vanished.

However, a Three Below employee told news.com.au that he was ?100 per cent sure there was no altercation outside the bar that night?.

?I know because I was here that night and I have told police everything that happened that night and handed over all the security camera footage,? he said.

?There are so many rumours and stories floating around about what happened to Alison right now so it?s pretty weird.

?It?s a small place. I mean only about 20,000 people live here at Whistler.?

Ms Raspa?s co-workers at the Westin Resort and Spa in Whistler called police on November 23 after she failed to turn up to her shift.

The family insider told news.com.au that Ms Raspa moved to Whistler in May and had recently extended her working visa for another six months.

They had believed Ms Raspa would be safe travelling on her own thanks to her expertise in Kung Fu.

?We are sick with worry,? the insider said.

?Alison had a black belt. How can someone with a black belt just disappear like that??

A number of Ms Raspa?s friends in Australia have launched Facebook campaigns to find her and their appeals for information have become increasingly desperate as each day passes with no news.

?Nobody knows anything, which is really sad,? Ms Raspa?s Westin hotel colleague and friend Raiko Kiudmaa told CTV News.

Mr Kiudmaa was one of a handful of friends to have ?liked? the final photographs posted on Ms Raspa?s Facebook page.

?Alison is a very, very nice girl,? he told the station. ?A little bit quiet or shy, but if you talk with her she?s very open-minded.?

Ms Raspa?s former roommate Katie, who asked for her name to be withheld, organised a walk from Whistler?s gondolas near the Three Below bar to Alpha Lake Park where her phone and backpack were found.

?I posted it (on Facebook) the day after she was reported missing. There?s obviously a community here and people might know something,? Katie said.

Whistler RCMP Staff Sergeant Paul Hayes said police search efforts would continue to focus on Alpha Lake Park, its shoreline and the surrounding areas.

?Some of the things that we have found have led us to the Alpha Lake area and we are trying our best at this point to put that timeline together to see if we can go anywhere else,? he said.

?We are bringing in divers again, we are bringing in helicopters when the weather will allow, we are doing ground searches with friends and with search and rescue.

?We are hoping the public can advise us of anything that they have seen.?

Police are also continuing analysing Ms Raspa?s mobile phone for clues.

Sgt Hayes said there was no indication of foul play, but added that police ?have not ruled out any option in terms of what has happened or where Ms Raspa could be.?

Ms Raspa was last seen wearing a black sweater, a white and black striped shirt, and black pants.

?We are trying to do anything we can and anything we can think of to track down the events and where she went between the time she left the bar,? Sgt Hayes said.

Police suspend search for Perth woman, 25, missing in Whistler

Canadian police have suspended their search for Alison Raspa as they revealed the missing Australian woman texted friends to say she was lost 90 minutes after she was last seen.

Police also said they believe she took public transport from the bar where she was last seen.

The 25-year-old from Perth left the Three Below bar, near Whistler village’s gondolas, about 11.30pm on 22 November.

Her phone was found about 6.30am the following morning in Alpha Lake park, some five kilometres away. Raspa’s jacket, wallet and backpack were found a short walk away by a member of the public last week.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) announced on Tuesday, Canadian time, they were suspending their ground search.

“The search to date [has] been extensive and has circumnavigated the park, lakes, as well as the road/trails/parkades leaving from the village to Alpha Lake park. At this point all available leads have been exhausted,” the RCMP said.

Police also revealed Raspa’s last known movements, including that she spoke to a friend on a pathway near the bar shortly after leaving.
They confirmed her backpack, wallet and jacket were found by the road where she was believed to have disembarked from a bus.

“Investigators have yet to determine why these items were discarded, but do not believe it is the result of foul play,” police said.

This is a really long and thorough article including map points for the night she went missing

    http://www.abc.net.au/news/2017-12-1...&sf176159480=1

1,2 and 3 are basically the bar and where she left from. 4 is where she got off the bus (near where she was staying) and 5 is where her phone was found

The body of an Australian woman who has been missing since November last year has been found in a semi-frozen lake high in a Canadian ski resort, according to reports.

Royal Canadian Mounted Police today said Alison Raspa's dead body was found by a member of the public last Friday.

Perth woman Ms Raspa, 25, vanished around midnight on November 22, after leaving a late-night bar in the popular ski resort town of Whistler, British Columbia.

Key to the police investigation was Ms Raspa's mobile phone, including texts she sent to friends on the night she went missing and its discovery very close to a near-frozen lake where police had intensely focused their search efforts.

Ms Raspa's phone was found at Alpha Lake Park, about 5km southwest from the Three Below Bar, where she had met several friends on the night she vanished.

Alpha Lake Park is a grassy reserve that spreads across the edges of an alpine lake.

A long jetty runs out into Alpha Lake; walking and cycling tracks trace around the large body of water, which is surrounded by trees and pockets of chalets and accommodation.

Wow. You would think that if the lake was near frozen the night she disappeared, that they would have been able to see cracks in the ice or a hole where she fell through.

Not to mention it sounds like they searched the lake not long after she first went missing but found nothing. No mention in those first articles either about the lake being semi frozen than?
