Israel "Izzy" worked at an inventory control business (WIS International). He would drive his car to his workplace which is located in Schuylkill Haven, PA (about 10 minutes from our house in Orwigsburg, PA). He and his other co-workers would then get in vans and travel to a different worksite each day. These worksites are usually a few hours away. On Friday, November 10. 2017 he drove to his employer's and hopped in a van going to Carlisle, PA to take inventory for Spirit Halloween. At 12:42pm they were dismissed for a 30 minute lunch. He told coworkers he was going to get food from Red Robin Restaurant which was in the same shopping center as Spirit Halloween. He ordered a burger for take-out and paid for his food. He was told to wait for his order and they would bring it out to him. He asked the location of the bathroom. When the burger was ready they could not find Izzy. When the lunchbreak was over, his co-workers could not find him. They searched the Target, Starbucks, etc in the area and eventually left the worksite without him. His manager contacted the Carlsile State Police as this was uncharacteristic of his behavior. He didn't have coat that day also left his cell phone at home. The next morning I found a cryptic note in his room written. The note expressed that he wishes he was never born. He suffers from depression, anxiety, and bipolar.

State police need your help searching for a missing man from Schuylkill County.

He was last seen near Orwigsburg on Saturday.

About 40 people gathered to search for Israel Whalen of Orwigsburg.

His family is desperate to find him because police believe the 23-year-old man may be a danger to himself.

You'll find many fliers showing a photo of Israel Whalen posted in West Brunswick Township, outside Orwigsburg.

"We know in our hearts that he's out there, and he needs our help," said his uncle Lenny Kucinski.

Whalen, who also goes by Izzy, was seen near Carlisle on Friday after he left work.

His family has been searching for him since they've assembled a search team in the Pine Brook development to try to find him.

Izzy's family and friends are searching for him in this area because this is where he lives. It is also the last place he was seen.

"We've had some tips that he was back in the Orwigsburg area, maybe in the woods, some anonymous tips. So we're just hoping and praying we find him out there today," said his aunt Celeste Kucinski.

About 40 people, including friends and family, showed up to help with the search. Some of them brought their dogs.

Whitney McGowan's dog "Jersey Girl" is trained to do searches.

"I mean, Jersey hasn't done a search in over a year but once it's in her, it's in her. It's instinct. She's good at it and she loves it."

State police consider Whalen to be a danger to himself. His family says he has a history of depression and other mental health issues.

With temperatures dropping at night, they hope to find him soon.

That search team spent several hours searching on Tuesday.

If you see Whalen or know anything about where he might be, you're asked to contact state police.

The family of Israel Whalen is raising money to build little free libraries in his honor.

The idea is simple -- take a book, leave a book. But, for the family of Israel Whalen, that simple idea carries great meaning.

"It promotes literacy," Whalen's aunt Celeste Kucinski said. "It promotes community interaction and involvement and that is something that is really important to us during this time because the community has been so involved in helping find Israel."

His family wants to pay tribute to him by building a little free library in his honor.

"He loved to read," Kucinski said. "He had hundreds of books and he just loved stopping at every single one of (the libraries)."

Whalen's family wants to build one that would take his love for reading and combine it with one of his other passions, which was music.

The family's goal is to raise $5,000. They hope to build their first little library near Izzy's house in Orwigsburg. After that, they want to build more all over the community.

To donate, you can do so at Kimmels Evangelical Free Church in Orwigsburg or by clicking https://www.gofundme.com/4t3di48
