Is it just me, or does that have to be some kind of typo?

Yeah, I didn't catch that when I posted the story early this morning. I am betting 5'3 is more likely.

Family pleads for help to find Upstate man who disappeared during TS Irma

The family of a man who went missing during Tropical Storm Irma has taken to social media to plead for help to find him.

Steven Dale Watkins, 45, of Liberty, was last seen Sept. 11.

Anderson County deputies found Watkins wrecked truck in a field on a farm near Honea Path. Deputies used a K-9 to search for Watkins, but were unable to find him,

Family members and deputies from Anderson and Pickens counties searched the area along Cleveland Road where the truck was found, but they found no sign of Watkins.

Watkins is about 6 feet 3 inches tall with a slender build. Family members said he has had multiple back surgeries and walks with a cane.

“I keep praying and I know we will find out what happened at some point, but not knowing hurts more than anyone can imagine,” Watkins’ sister, Shara Strickland, posted. “I would just like for everyone to please pray for his safe return and pray for all of our family! My babies sure do love their Uncle Steve.”

Another family member posted: “If you know anything, see anything suspicious, anyone acting out of the ordinary, please contact the police and ask them to check it out.”

Anyone with information is asked to call the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office at 864-260-4400.

Coroner identifies remains found in Anderson Co. as man missing since Irma crash

Authorities made a grisly discovery in the search for a missing man on Thursday.

Around 3 p.m., the Anderson County Sheriff's Office responded to a call on Cleveland Road near Honea Path. Deputies said decomposed human remains were found at the scene.

After an investigation, the coroner identified the victim as 45-year-old Steven Dale Watkins of Liberty. Watkins was reported missing in September and his truck was found wrecked in a field along Cleveland Road.

The coroner said he believes Watkins has been deceased since around the time he was reported missing. Distinctive tattoos and dental work were used to identify the body.

According to the coroner, no foul play is suspected in Watkins' death and the cause appears to be self-inflicted.
