Akia Eggleston (22) missing from Baltimore, MD since 5/3/17

Akia Eggleston was in the third trimester of her pregnancy when she disappeared.

And now, more than three months later, Akia remains missing and authorities believe foul play is involved.

Few details are available in Akia?s case, but authorities said family members rang the alarm when Akia didn?t show up to a planned baby shower on May 3.

The 22-year-old had just had a check-up for what officials described as a high-risk pregnancy. There were plans for a cesarean section when her due-date arrived.

When calls to Akia went unanswered and she missed another prenatal appointment, family members headed to her apartment to check on her. The scene they found was even more troubling than first imagined, according to Shawn Wilkinson, Akia?s stepfather.

?The only thing left in her apartment was her bed and a couple of dressers,? Shawn told NewsOne. ?It looked like she had moved out but we know she couldn?t move anything because of her high risk pregnancy. She could barely walk.?

Originally, authorities said they did not suspect foul play in connection with the case.

Baltimore Police spokesperson T.J. Smith noted that it was simply the passing of time that has shifted their thoughts on the investigation.

?There is nothing new, more than what we had on the day she disappeared. The difference we have is time,? Smith said. ?This case is one that, again, we want to get some more information on.?

Akia Eggleston is 22 years old and is described as 4?8? tall, weighing 145 lbs. with black hair and brown eyes. She would no longer be pregnant. Anyone with information regarding her case is urged to call the Baltimore Police Department at (443) 984-7385.

Akia Eggleston Vanished a Year Ago

A mother from Cherry Hill was last seen one year ago Thursday, 22-year-old Akia Shawnta Eggleston was 8 months pregnant.

She was reported missing when didn't show up for her baby shower May 7th, police say the last sign of her was on May 3rd, when she was spotted at a local bank.

The expectant mother was high risk and placed on bed rest. Family members said she was excited about becoming a mother again and was thrilled about the shower, when she didn't show up and didn't answer the phone, those close to her said they knew something was wrong. They raced to her home to find Akia and her belongings, gone.

Her family says Akia's disappearance was suspicious from the moment they realized she was gone. She hadn't told anyone she was leaving, pieces of her furniture were still in the house, and there was a noticeable hole in the wall.

The family said police initially told them because of her age, there wasn't much that could be done if she left on her own free will.

In July, City Police said they had reason to believe that foul play was involved in Akia's disappearance. They released surveillance footage of the expectant mother at a local bank on May 3rd, that was the last time anyone heard from her.

The FBI put her on a list that would alert them if she went to a hospital in labor, they never got a notification.

It's been two years since Maryland native and mother Akia Eggleston vanished in Baltimore just days before her baby shower.

Akia's father, Shawn Wilkinson, and the co-founders of the Black and Missing Foundation, Derrica Wilson and Natalie Wilson, join "The View" to shine a spotlight on her disappearance.

Eggleston, then 22 years old, was eight months pregnant with her second child when she disappeared on May 3, 2017. Eggleston was expected to attend her baby shower four days later.

Concerned by their daughter's absence, Eggleston's family alerted the Baltimore police.

Eggleston was last seen taking money out of a bank, according to authorities. Police said that they searched her apartment, which she shared with a roommate. The department conducted a six-month search before exhausting all leads.

Eggleston was last seen taking money out of a bank, according to authorities. Police said that they searched her apartment, which she shared with a roommate. The department says it has been conducting an extensive investigation into her disappearance.

The Baltimore police released the following statement to "The View" on Eggleston's case:

?Our homicide detectives have devoted literally thousands of man-hours to this case. About a dozen detectives have been involved at some point in the investigation, in addition to about a half-dozen FBI agents. We have also received assistance from the Baltimore State?s Attorney?s Office and the U.S. Attorney?s Office. To date, among other things, a dozen search warrants and/or subpoenas have been executed; approximately 100 interviews have been conducted; and dogs and divers have been used in numerous searches.

As far as keeping in touch with Akia?s family, the Lieutenant in charge of our cold case squad has personally met with Akia?s father four times and spoken with him on the phone another six or so times. Akia?s father has also met with the Major in charge of our homicide unit, as well as the prosecutor assigned to the case. We have given him as much as information as we can without jeopardizing the integrity of the investigation.

Outside of Akia?s friends and family members, nobody wants this case to be solved more than the members of the Baltimore Police Department, and we will keep working until the job is done.?

If you have any information concerning this case, please contact the FBI's Baltimore Field Office at (410) 265-8080, the Baltimore City Police Department at (410) 396-2499, your local FBI office, or the nearest American Embassy or Consulate.
