Peter Madsen, the Danish inventor accused of killing and dismembering 30-year-old Swedish journalist Kim Wall, admitted in court on Tuesday that he stabbed her aboard his homemade submarine. Madsen still denies that he killed her.
Multiple stab wounds were found on Wall's body, but Madsen still denies that he killed her. He did, however, admit to dismembering her body last year. Madsen previously claimed that Wall died when a hatchet fell on her head, but later changed his story. In court on Wednesday, according to the New York Daily News, Madsen said Wall “died in an air pressure accident aboard the submarine.” He also admitted that he dismembered her body in the submarine's bathroom.

Madsen claims the stabbing occurred post mortem, giving a bizarre explanation for the wounds. He reportedly stabbed the 30-year-old Swede in order to avoid a “buildup of gas in her body,” so that her body parts would sink. "I pierced certain parts of her body because I did not want them to be inflated by gas," he said, according to the AFP. "There was nothing erotic in those blows."

Jurors watched videos found on a murder suspect's hard drive which showed women being decapitated and impaled.

The prosecution has meanwhile painted a picture of Madsen as a sexual sadist who was obsessed with beheadings and murdered Ms Wall as part of a sexual fantasy.

One animated video showed a woman dancing while taking her clothes off.

She then sits down naked before a man moves behind her and slits her throat several times. He decapitates her and holds her head in one hand.

When the prosecutor asked Madsen why he watched the movie, he replied: "Why, have you seen Seven?", referencing a violent thriller which revolves around grizzly murders.

A video called 'Beheading girl' which showed a real woman having her throat slit was also shown to court.

Prosecutors say Madsen watched the 54-second film on the night before Ms Wall's death.

At first I thought he was watching videos that consisted of actors & special effects, but if then I saw the words ?a real woman having her throat slit.?
    😳
OMFG yeah, he killed her on purpose, then he cut her up to satisfy his sick obsessions. Imo the fact that he watched the video prior to her murder equals total premeditation.

Ditte Dyreborg, a prominent lieutenant commander with the Royal Danish Navy, said Madsen's explanations were implausible, if not impossible, as she spoke at Copenhagen City Court on Tuesday.

"We did not find anything. No CO (carbon monoxide), no CO2 (carbon dioxide), no NOx (nitrogen oxide). Which we would have if the submarine engine was running with carbon monoxide in it," said Dyreborg, who was the first to inspect the vessel on August 11th.

Dyreborg also said that the delay in testing air composition inside the sub, which resulted from Madsen having initially given a different story as to how Wall died, would not have affected results.

“It makes no difference when measurements are made, because the air in the submarine was not changed in the meantime,” she said.

The witness also said that exhaust fumes Madsen claims filled the vessel could not have caused life-threatening conditions.

Madsen’s explanation of the accident also states that a drop in pressure inside the cabin, while he was on deck, prevented him from getting back inside to help Wall. He said that she must have switched the engines off herself, allowing him to get back inside once the pressure had stabilised, but not before the journalist had been poisoned by the fumes.

But Dyreborg said that explanation was improbable.

“I do not believe that Kim Wall was trapped inside the submarine and poisoned by exhaust fumes. There would have been clear signs on the filters if that was the case, and there were not,” the lieutenant commander said.

If the engines had stopped, it would have taken a long time before Madsen could open the hatch again, she also said.

She also doubted whether Wall, untrained in piloting the sub, would have been able to switch off the engines herself, according to DR’s report from the courtroom.

Seemingly irritated and agitated, Madsen took notes during Dyreborg's testimony and whispered technical questions into his lawyer's ear, according to an AFP reporter at the scene.

At the trial at Copenhagen City Court, prosecutors said police found 41 images of hanged girls, and other violent content featuring the murders of women and some men.

They also found searches from 2011 using keywords such as "beheadings real", "stabby stabby" and "suicide videos".

A Danish prosecutor has demanded a life sentence for the suspect in the killing of the Swedish journalist Kim Wall, saying he has changed his story so many times that his credibility is now ?not only low, it is non-existent?.

In his final arguments before Wednesday?s verdict, the prosecutor Jakob Buch-Jepsen acknowledged that Denmark?s most severe punishment was handed down for the murder of a single person only in ?very special circumstances?.

But he said the sexual assault that Peter Madsen stood accused of inflicting on Wall, and evidence of pre-planning, was enough to justify such a sentence. ?In this case there are no mitigating circumstances, only aggravating circumstances,? he said.

Danish inventor Peter Madsen given life sentence

Danish inventor Peter Madsen has been found guilty of the mutilation and murder of Swedish journalist Kim Wall, and sentenced to life in prison.

Madsen was found guilty on all three charges he faced: premeditated murder, the indecent handling of a corpse and "sexual relations other than intercourse of a particularly dangerous nature," evidenced by stab wounds inside and outside Wall's genital area.

During the sentencing at a court in Copenhagen Wednesday, the judge, Anette Burkoe, described the crime as "a cynical and planned sexual murder of a severe brutal nature against a random woman."

Danish submariner who killed journalist won’t appeal murder conviction

Danish submarine inventor Peter Madsen will not be appealing his murder conviction over the killing and dismemberment of Swedish journalist Kim Wall, prosecutors said Monday.

In a tweet, prosecutors said Madsen’s defense team had only appealed against the life sentence that was handed down by the Copenhagen City Court. Prosecutors insist the sentence is correct.

Defense lawyer Betina Hald Engmark told Denmark’s TV2 that Madsen “doesn’t confess [to] murdering Kim Wall but that he would like the case to be over with — also for the sake of the relatives and witnesses.”

Danish entrepreneur who killed journalist on board submarine gets married
    Katherine Davison

    Tuesday, 14 January 2020 10:08 pm

A Danish entrepreneur sent to prison for life for killing a Swedish journalist on his submarine has found love with a Russian graphic designer from behind bars - and the pair are now married.

Peter Madsen, 49, who was an engineer and entrepreneur, was sentenced to life imprisonment after murdering Swedish journalist Kim Wall onboard his submarine UC3 Nautilus in the harbour of the Danish capital Copenhagen.

In a case that made international headlines, Wall, 30, went missing after going on a submarine trip alone with Peter Madsen on August 10, 2017.

She had intended to write a story on Madsen and his submarine.

Her dismembered torso was found off the coast of Copenhagen later that month, and other body parts were also discovered in the sea in plastic bags in October.

Madsen denied murder and said Wall died accidentally inside the submarine, but confessed to cutting up her body and throwing the body parts into the sea.

He had changed his story several times following Wall's disappearance.

Local media now report that Madsen has married a Russian woman identified as Jenny Curpen, 39, born in the capital city of Moscow.

Curpen is believed to work as a graphic designer and illustrator and the couple is believed to have tied the knot on 19 December 2019.

Curpen says that since the wedding she has been bombarded with threats from "enemies".

She said: "Dear friends, as well as enemies, I will be brief and concise.

"Within last 15 hours, I received thousands of weird, stupid, absurd or aggressive comments, messages and threats of physical nature from many so-called normal, law-abiding good people, men and women, who so much hate violence, that they are ready to kill my husband and me.

"Being specialised in cultural studies I?m very interested to analyse and to work with this phenomenon, but now I want to say about the other thing.

?I'm not going to make any excuses for my choice simply because my personal life is not anyone?s business.

"Next time you will give yourself right to bother strangers with actions like mentioned above, you should be ready for being treated the same way (sic)."

The Russian also declared her love for her husband, saying: ?I love and respect my husband, I am proud of him and 49 years of his human and professional life except for one day that was and always will stay a tragedy. My husband committed a horrible crime and he is punished for that.

'My husband is the one of two victims of his crime'

"However, knowing him for real give me an exclusive right to say that I am lucky to be with the most beautiful, smart, talented, devoted and empathetic person and man ever.

"My husband is the one of two victims of his crime and staying alive was a punishment itself for him, not a reward, not luck. So, I must admit with deep sorrow that the society outside the prison walls is much more cruel and potentially dangerous to itself than the hero of today's modest celebration. (sic)?

The man convicted of killing a Swedish journalist while aboard his homemade submarine has admitted to her murder and dismemberment.

Peter Madsen, 49, is serving a life sentence in prison after being convicted of Kim Wall’s August 2017 murder. Throughout the trial, he maintained that the death was an accident, but new recordings between Madsen and another journalist inquiring about the crime were released as part of a new documentary series Secret Recordings with Peter Madsen, France 24 reported.

“There is only one who is guilty, and that is me,” Madsen said in the first episode of the series after responding “yes” to a question about whether he murdered Wall.

“It was nobody else’s fault. It’s my fault she died. And it’s my fault because I committed the crime. It’s all my fault,” Madsen told interviewer Kristian Linnemann, according to the Copenhagen Post.

The documentary series is gleaned from nearly 20 hours of phone interviews between Linnemann and Madsen. While Madsen didn’t know he was being recorded at the time, he reportedly authorized the release of the recordings for the documentary.

Danish submarine killer caught after prison escape

Peter Madsen, who was convicted of killing Swedish journalist Kim Wall in a self-built submarine in 2017, was caught by Danish authorities on Tuesday after he briefly escaped from prison, police told Reuters.

Danish police earlier said on Twitter they had arrested a man just outside the capital Copenhagen, after he had fled prison.

Footage released by tabloid Ekstra Bladet showed a man resembling Peter Madsen sitting up against a fence surrounded by police forces at a distance.

Madsen was sentenced to life in prison in 2018 for murdering, sexually mutilating and dismembering Wall aboard the submarine in Copenhagen harbour.
