I will be interested to see what comes from this one. From comments I have read, I think she may have been killed by her husband/partner. He was apparently running down the hall on the ship covered in blood and I think he tried to jump overboard.

FBI investigating death of woman aboard Princess Cruise ship in Alaska

The FBI is investigating the death of a Utah woman aboard a Princess Cruises ship in Alaska, it announced Wednesday.

The woman, 39-year-old Kristy Manzanares, died aboard the Emerald Princess ship after a domestic dispute, according to a source with knowledge of the FBI's investigation. The agency is investigating the "suspicious" death.

Princess Cruises confirmed that the domestic dispute occurred at about 9 p.m. Tuesday and resulted in the woman's death.

Passengers were were allowed to disembark at around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday after authorities lifted and hours-long lockdown, passengers said told ABC News.

Passengers said the captain had previously instructed passengers in decks 8, 9 and 10 on the port side to return to their cabins so they could be interviewed by investigators about the incident. Other passengers were able to move about the ship, but not disembark.

One passenger had been detained by the crew, the cruise line said, adding that it has the authority to detain anyone who commits a crime.
The Emerald Princess was on a seven-day round trip cruise that departed Seattle on Sunday, according to the cruise line. The ship, carrying 3,400 passengers and 1,100 crew members, was scheduled to take a scenic tour around the Tracy Arm fjord near Juneau today, but that event has been canceled.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and all those impacted by this tragic event," Princess Cruises said in a statement.

The FBI dispatched teams from Anchorage and Seattle to Juneau to talk to the family. The agency has jurisdiction in this case, it said, because the incident happened on the water.

Vacations are often very stressful times. I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often.

    Terrible.

Husband charged with murder after domestic dispute on cruise ship

The FBI has arrested the husband of a 39-year-old Utah woman found dead aboard a cruise ship traveling in Alaska waters.

Kenneth Manzaneres is being charged with murder in the death of Kristy Manzaneres, according to court documents cited by KTUU.She was found by crew with a severe head wound in her room aboard the Emerald Princess following a domestic dispute Tuesday around 9 p.m.

"Blood was spread throughout ... on multiple surfaces" in the cabin and she was pronounced dead about 20 minutes later.

Witnesses and a security officer told the news station they spotted blood on Kenneth's hands as he was taken to an adjoining room in handcuffs. Passengers reportedly heard him say, "She would not stop laughing at me."

Later, when being processed during an FBI search the victim "spontaneously stated, 'my life is over.'"

Charles Rowlen and his wife told KOMO News they were two decks above at the time of the incident.

“It was an evening for us ... definitely heard a woman screaming,” he said. “A little girl from that room came running out calling for help ... that her parents had been in a fight.

    “She sounded pretty desperate.”

Per some posts on the FB, it is his father's page, not the suspect's.

FBI: Utah man says he killed wife because she laughed at him

A Utah man killed his wife aboard an Alaska cruise and told an acquaintance who later walked into the couple's blood-splattered room that he did it because she laughed at him, the FBI said in documents released Thursday.

A man and others went into the room before medical workers and security officers had arrived and saw the woman on the floor covered in blood, according to court documents. The man asked Manzanares what happened, and the suspect said, "She would not stop laughing at me."

Manzanares then grabbed his wife's body and tried to drag her to the balcony, but the man stopped him, Watson wrote. A ship security officer handcuffed Manzanares in a nearby cabin.

...... God I hate people. Yes George, your lame comment is hysterical and you are a comic genius but this girl may not want to deal with a middle aged strangers attempt at being funny at this particular time.

I hate them too. What would possess a person to troll the facebook page of the survivor of a homicide victim?!? Are people really this shitty? I'm going back to the land of unicorns and rainbows.

You are talking to a woman who has laughed in the face of death, sneered at doom and chuckled at catastrophe.

YES!!! Every single time. I can't think of one vacation where I was not super stressed the first day or two.

I wonder if the couple was both drinking?

    ETA:
Passengers said that a "murder mystery" theme dinner was taking place when the situation started to unfold. Some thought it was a hoax at first, but after the initial confusion they realized the severity of the situation.

I think they have two younger daughters as well. Some of the pictures on Kalie's page include a younger sister. They all might have been in that room and the thought makes me sick. I also saw the strangers posting on Kalie's page. I really wish people would stop and think before they do dumb hurtful shit. The poor girl has enough to deal with. This has to be a never ending nightmare for her.

The article I posted above said this
Passengers told CBS News' Jamie Yuccas that the couple involved was traveling with a large group that included their children.
"It was evening for us, I had turned in and my wife was taking a shower and I heard terrible screaming, I mean you knew it wasn't normal," Rowlen said. "And it sounded like two or three ladies or girls, definitely women screaming."
SO it sounds like the whole group must have seen her body.
