Not sure why still pending if it was a motorcycle accident:

Updated 4:50 p.m. Wednesday: Revised to include motorcyclist's identity.

A motorcyclist was killed Tuesday evening after losing control while attempting to pass a vehicle, Arlington police said.

Investigators believe the motorcyclist was heading east about 7:15 p.m. in the 4600 block of West Sublett Road, near U.S. Highway 287, when he tried to pass another vehicle. He lost control and struck a curb, police said.

The motorcyclist was identified by the Tarrant County medical examiner as 34-year-old Fabian Soliz, of Arlington.

Soliz died at the scene after he was ejected and hit a pole near the roadway, police said.

Investigators believe speed may have been a factor.

Probably pending toxicology and BAC reports so they can say whether he was intoxicated at the time of the accident? Just guessing.

I see some motorcyclists take some huge risks. It's as if they forget that they aren't protected like motorists are. In a hurry, trying to pass. Lane Splitting is another huge risk. I understand that in traffic they could overheat, but there's a difference between keeping a safe speed traveling through bumper to bumper traffic and zooming by cars doing 80MPH.

I'm pretty sure in California there is a 10 mph abouve the traffic flow rule fro splitting but who follows that? I wonder if that is a common thing across all states.

Lane Splitting is not really legal or illegal in CA. It's been a heated debate for a long time. There's nothing saying it's legal, but also nothing saying it's illegal either. It's a gray area.

I can tell you one thing, the bikers I know from MA and NH consider Lane Splitting suicide.
