Steven Koecher missing from Las Vegas, NV since 12/12/09

I'm kind of surprised we don't already have a thread on him. I find this to be a super interesting case. I still think it's very possible that he is alive out there somewhere.

I couldn't either, it's possible there was a mention maybe in another thread and I researched it outside of MDS. I just usually assume I get the info here because this is the only site I really go on....except for my local news sites.

Maybe it was mentioned in the thread about Susan Powell/her husband? It was mentioned for a little bit that they met at a gas station and fell in love and ran off together...like, some people legit believe that story. I think the husband may have said it first and people believed it because they both went missing around the same time.

I could have sworn that I read a thread here after I watched his Disappeared episode.

The fact he wasn't willing to take any of his family's money for bills, makes me think he knew he was going to commit suicide and didn't want to waste their money.

Sad they haven't found his body, though.

I am going to go search and see if I can find some of the new documents that were released in December.
This is a great write up. It doesn't strike me as suicide being a conclusion. I know that you really can't tell, but they made excellent points that point away from it. The footage shows him walking with purpose with a folder of some sort in his hands and parking in a residential area with the folder definitely points to him there to meet someone. Yes, buying presents could have been his last goodbye to his niece and nephew knowing that the car would eventually be found. Parking the car there on purpose to be found somewhere far away from where he would decide to end his life so that his family wouldn't have to deal with having him found. That all makes sense. However the folder and purpose and taking his wallet and cell phone don't line up with that.

He definitely didn't have enough money to start his life over again and if this was what he intended to do, he wouldn't have taken his cell phone or used his card at places to eat. He wouldn't have taken his car either because all of that would be tracking him.

The drug dealing theory would make some kind of sense with all of the strange traveling he was doing before he disappeared, but I find it highly unlikely that the drug sniffing dogs wouldn't have alerted to that if he did use the car to transport. However, it could have been some other kind of shady business that he was getting involved in that led him to someone doing something to him.

The neighbors pointing out suspicious activity with a certain household and the residents moving out not long after is telling. He likely met someone in that neighborhood that did something to him.

Vegas is not an easy place to disappear in to unless you're talking the desert surrounding it. The city itself is under constant surveillance and despite there being a ton of tourists, it's somewhat of a small town when it comes to actual residents. They all work at the casinos and know each other for the most part.

I think he's definitely dead and I think someone in that neighborhood at the time was responsible.

The folder had a map in it that told him where to hike to end his life. The phone and wallet were in case he is found he can be identified.

LOL totally reaching, I think I read this site way too much...and my imagination is running wild

The wallet, maybe. But the phone? That's just a tracking device. I don't know of any suicide case where people who wanted to remain missing took their phone

The phone was off and they couldn't track it anyways. It could've been used as a back up in case a gust of wind blew away his paper map.

Okay I need to stop with these crazy ideas haha.

First, I cannot believe he has been missing that long. Seriously, I remember when he went missing and to see it was back in 2009. Wow.

I think he was murdered and that house...and the people in it...did something to him.
