The footage shows him walking with purpose with a folder of some sort in his hands and parking in a residential area with the folder definitely points to him there to meet someone. Yes, buying presents could have been his last goodbye to his niece and nephew knowing that the car would eventually be found. Parking the car there on purpose to be found somewhere far away from where he would decide to end his life so that his family wouldn't have to deal with having him found. That all makes sense. However the folder and purpose and taking his wallet and cell phone don't line up with that.
He definitely didn't have enough money to start his life over again and if this was what he intended to do, he wouldn't have taken his cell phone or used his card at places to eat. He wouldn't have taken his car either because all of that would be tracking him.
The drug dealing theory would make some kind of sense with all of the strange traveling he was doing before he disappeared, but I find it highly unlikely that the drug sniffing dogs wouldn't have alerted to that if he did use the car to transport. However, it could have been some other kind of shady business that he was getting involved in that led him to someone doing something to him.
The neighbors pointing out suspicious activity with a certain household and the residents moving out not long after is telling. He likely met someone in that neighborhood that did something to him.
Vegas is not an easy place to disappear in to unless you're talking the desert surrounding it. The city itself is under constant surveillance and despite there being a ton of tourists, it's somewhat of a small town when it comes to actual residents. They all work at the casinos and know each other for the most part.
I think he's definitely dead and I think someone in that neighborhood at the time was responsible.
