MS-13 Gang Member Pleads Guilty to Teen's 'Catfishing' Murder

An MS-13 gang member pleaded guilty on Friday to the 2015 murder of a 15-year-old boy in East Boston.

Carlos Melara, 21, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to conduct enterprise affairs through a pattern of racketeering activity, or RICO conspiracy. Melara, a native of El Salvador, will be sentenced on July 30.

He is one of 61 people named in a fifth superseding indictment targeting the criminal activities of alleged leaders, members and associates of MS-13. During the investigation, Melara was identified as a member of the Everett Locos Salvatrucha clique of MS-13.

On Sept. 7, 2015, Melara, Henry Josue Parada Martinez and another unnamed MS-13 member participated in the murder of the teenager on Constitution Beach in East Boston. Authorities did not release the name of the victim in Monday's announcement of a guilty plea.

No bail for alleged East Coast leader of violent MS-13 gang

The alleged East Coast crime boss of the notorious street gang MS-13 was ordered held without bail on Thursday at his first court appearance on Long Island, where prosecutors accuse him of having a hand in a wave of violence.

Miguel Angel Corea Diaz had been jailed in Maryland in a separate drug case. Drug Enforcement Administration agents transported him to Nassau County on Wednesday.

When the charges against Corea Diaz and 16 other defendants with alleged ties to MS-13 were announced earlier this year, DEA officials described him as the "point man on the East Coast who would report to MS-13 hierarchy in El Salvador."

An indictment alleges the 35-year-old Corea Diaz ordered beatings and killings and directed the gang's drug operations in New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Texas and elsewhere while using the street name "Reaper."

Three MS-13 gang members in Massachusetts convicted in murder trial

The verdict in Boston federal court came in the largest U.S. criminal case involving MS-13, whose members include immigrants from El Salvador and which U.S. President Donald Trump has sought to link to his efforts to crack down on illegal immigration.

Jurors found Hector Enamorado, 39, Luis Solis Vasquez, 27, and Noe Perez Vasquez, 27, guilty of racketeering conspiracy and of having participated in the murder of Javier Ortiz, a rival gang member who was shot in the Massachusetts city of Chelsea in December 2014.

After Josue Portillo crossed into the United States illegally in 2015, he settled on Long Island and sought to join the same gang — MS-13 — that was terrorizing his hometown in El Salvador. On April 11, 2017, authorities say he took part in executing four young Latino men in the woods behind a suburban soccer field, a sensational crime that drew national attention and became a rallying cry in President Trump’s crackdown on illegal immigration.

Mr. Portillo, now 17, pleaded guilty on Monday to federal racketeering charges and for his role in the four murders, according to prosecutors. Authorities initially charged him as a juvenile in July 2017, along with nine other gang members or associates, in the murder of the four young men: Justin Llivicura, Michael Lopez Banegas, Jefferson Villalobos and Jorge Tigre.

A grieving New York mother recognized by President Donald Trump at the State of the Union in his campaign against deadly MS-13 gang violence was struck by an SUV and killed at her slain daughter's memorial site Friday after a heated confrontation with the driver.

Evelyn Rodriguez was hit around 4 p.m. in Brentwood, near where her 16-year-old daughter Kayla Cuevas' body was found beaten and slashed two years ago to the day, police said. Cuevas' friend, 15-year-old Nisa Mickens was also killed.

The community is the epicenter of the fight against MS-13 violence on Long Island.

Rodriguez and the driver, a relative of a person who lives near the memorial, were arguing over its placement, police said. Rodriguez, 50, and another person were seen standing in the street and yelling at the driver of the SUV before the vehicle sped forward and struck her.

    Right before it happened:

The woman stayed after she hit her. I can't fathom it was intentional if she stayed. But how wasn't it intentional if they were just arguing moments before.

what a cunt. The poor woman already had gone through enough. Is the placement of the memorial really a bother? Such a bother, that you had to kill the poor mother of the slain girl? FFS

Charges filed in death of Evelyn Rodriguez, mother of MS-13 victim killed at daughter's memorial site

Updated 2 hrs 19 mins ago

BRENTWOOD, Long Island (WABC) -- An indictment has been filed against the driver of an SUV who struck and killed a Long Island mother who led a crusade against MS-13 gang violence after her daughter was slain.

The driver, Annmarie Drago, is facing charges of criminally negligent homicide, petit larceny, and criminal mischief.

Rodriguez was struck and killed on September 14 while setting up a memorial in Brentwood to mark the second anniversary of the death of her 16-year-old daughter, Kayla Cuevas, and her 15-year-old friend Nisa Mickens, who were killed in gang-related violence.

"Our goal in the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office is to seek justice," District Attorney Tim Sini said. "And that's what we've done here today. We've begun the process of justice."

Prosecutors allege that Drago stole some items in the memorial and then intentionally destroyed another part of it. Drago was reportedly trying to sell her mother's home, which is located near the memorial.

They say Rodriguez confronted Drago about it, which is when she was allegedly run over.

"Despite the fact that Evelyn was in front of the vehicle with her hands on the car...despite warnings, the defendant abruptly accelerated," Sini said.

Drago pleaded not guilty and was released without bail.

"All I can do is just pray and hope my mother, she gets justice," daughter Kelsey Cuevas said.

When asked why Drago was released without bail, Sini pointed out that the defendant did not leave the scene of the crime, had no criminal history, did not attempt to leave the country and voluntarily surrendered to police.

"I really hope that justice prevails and she pays," friend Vanessa Lopez said. "And she goes to jail for this."

A grand jury heard evidence, including testimony from Kayla's father, Freddy Cuevas, who witnessed the crash.

Rodriguez' death came two years to the day after her daughter's body was found. Kayla Cuevas and Mickens were walking when police say they were ambushed by MS-13 gang members and slaughtered.

Their deaths brought sudden attention to a string of killings of teenagers in the Long Island suburbs that had largely gone unnoticed, and in some cases, uninvestigated by police. After he became president, Donald Trump visited Brentwood and vowed a national crackdown on MS-13.

He recognized Rodriguez, Cuevas and Mickens' parents at the State of the Union address in January.

"Her roar was deafening, from the streets of Brentwood to the halls of Congress to the ears of the president himself," Suffolk County District Attorney Timothy Sini said at her funeral.

In El Salvador the place where MS-13 was born they have to deal with a rival group called La Sombra Negra. This group is filled with Police officers and members of the military in El Salvador and their aim is to have summary execution against MS-13 but the ended up killing judges they accuse of being corrupt.

Feds to seek death penalty for both brothers accused of seven Long Island murders

    https://www.nydailynews.com/new-york...gum-story.html

A member of Long Island’s bloodthirsty MS-13 will face the death penalty — along with his older brother, a gangbanger commander — when the pair go to trial for their alleged roles in a string of ruthless slayings, federal prosecutors said Friday.

Jairo Saenz, 24, is accused of seven killings committed while he was second-in-command of the MS-13 crew known as the Brentwood Sailors, prosecutors charged. His big brother, Alexi Saenz, 25, who headed the crew, also faces death in the stunning slaughters, federal prosecutors announced in July.

Included in the blood-lust hits were a pair of defenseless Brentwood High School girls, best friends Kayla Cuevas, 16, and Nisa Mickens, 15, who were killed in September 2016.

The Saenz brothers are also charged, along with other alleged gangbangers, in the slayings of five men: Javier Castillo, Dewann Stacks, Esteban Alvarado-Bonilla, Oscar Acosta and Michael Johnson.

According to federal prosecutors, the brothers conducted the hits over a 13-month period, a sickening average of more than a killing every two months.

In addition to their alleged roles in the carnage, Jairo Saenz also took part in the attempted murders of two men in 2016 and torched two cars, federal prosecutors charged.

The brothers are two of 22 men already arrested in a wide-ranging, 89-count federal case — including an attempted 2019 murder and numerous assaults inside Brooklyn’s federal jail.

Twelve others named in indictments are awaiting a decision from the Attorney General on whether the Department of Justice will seek the death penalty in their cases, authorities said.

No trial date has been set for the Saenz brothers or their alleged co-conspirators.
