I had an IUD a million and a half years ago. I remember that it hurt but was more of a pinching pain and pressure pain. It is inserted real quick if I remember correctly. Isnt it inserted when you have your period because that makes it easier?

Ew, really? That sounds messy!
What if you're not gonna have a period since you're breastfeeding? Huh, then what?!

This whole IUD thing is new to me, but it sounds easier than a tubal.
With all this talk of thinking outside the box, I am beginning to wonder what's left inside the box. -Me

I know it doesnt have to be inserted when your on your period it just makes it alot easier because your cervix is open.
I am jealous. I had my period the while time I was breast feeding. I might have skipped 4 months in the 2 years that I did it for.

I would give it a day. If you're still spotting tomorrow, call your doc.

If you're boob feeding exclusively, it's not uncommon to not get your period. But, if you start supplementing with formula, or the baby starts on solids, your period will probably come back. Then, there are people who still get a regular period, even when they do boob feed - Like poor Laurie.

I think my Microgestin makes me too hungry. It's very annoying. I already deal with being hungry all the time for some weird reason, but now it's even worse since I've started taking the BC. I know that a lot of different BCs make women get the munchies, but I was kinda hoping I'd be lucky and not have to experience that. It's hard not to eat when I am excruciatingly hungry. I even get hungry right after I've eaten!!

I have to recount a hilariously painful, or is it painfully hilarious?, occurance from this past weekend. It's a bit gross, so if you don't want to read about my vaginal injury, please feel free to bypass this post: no hard feelings will be had! Here goes:

On Mother's Day, I went to the park with my boyfriend and his family for a picnic and some sports. I didn't really think it'd be a problem to wear my stretch lace panties that day, but, boy, did I find out I was wrong!! After playing baseball for at least two hours, and throwing the frisbee around for about a half hour, I started feeling a pain in my crotch area. I attempted adjustments without being too obvious, but only felt more pain when I tugged at my panties in a certain manner. So, I headed to the bathroom to fix the problem.

Into the bathroom, and into the stall I go... I pull my jeans down, and before I can even sit down on the toilet, I have to tear two small holes in the crotch of my panties to release my fuckin' labia from the lace meshing!! Somehow, that most tender of flesh got pulled through the mesh (which is pretty small), stuck there, and began to swell from the blood circulation being cut off. I now have two semi-painful blood blisters on my labia.

This story has been recounted just to warn my fellow MDS ladies to not wear lace or stretch lace panties when you are planning on running around playing sports!!!!!11

I have a question for anyone with breast feeding knowledge. If you have breast fed your child for 10 weeks, stop for 72 hours but are using a cheap breast pump during that time, can you stop producing milk? If so, was it due to the pumping or were you just going to stop producing at that point anyway? Someone I know ingested something she should not have and had to stop breast feeding for 72 hours and claims the lapse caused this to happen. Possible or bullshit?

if you're pumping it's like the same as breast feeding. Your asking your body to continue to produce milk. Some women only breast pump cos their not able to breast feed cos of other complications . like the baby not lacking on.

if you completely stop for 72 hours then maybe yes, you'll stop produciing milk. I remember when I dried up.. it was cos i kept doing it less and less and then one day it was done!

maybe she didn't brest pump as much as she would had breast fed.

What made me doubt was that she was still pumping during that time. I didn't think about her not pumping enough causing it.

I can assure you that I breast feed and I got my period at the 6 week mark. It doesn't work that way for all women. But some women rely on it as birth control and end up caught out. Irish twins, anyone?

[/quote]Hmm, that's different then. When I finally stopped, mine was gone within days, but never if I was still pumping. On the several occasions I drank when breastfeeding, I pumped and dumped for 24 hours like the doc advised, and I guarantee it wasn't as much as what my child would have gotten, and it never stopped then. I mean, I suppose it's POSSIBLE, but it sounds like she would have had to have problems with her supply beforehand.

I never could pump. I breastfed for almost a year, but never could pump a drop. It hurts!
