Oh, and I finally got my period. Husband was talking dirty and waving his peen around at me on Skype last night and I thought things felt a little damp. Turns out he didn't actually turn me on, he threw my uterus into period mode. Even from bajillions of miles away, he still has that effect on me . It's real love.

My last two were abnormal, which caused me to get kicked off my deployment, effectively making me lose out on about $80K.

Is anyone on the Nuva-ring? I've been on it for 5 months now and haven't really had any issues (aside from it popping out during sex every once in a while.. semi-awkward). I'm not sure if its just because I haven't had any action in forever and my vagina decided to shrink, but taking the ring out this month was the most painful thing ever. I almost cried in my bathroom because I actually thought it was stuck I literally thought I was pulling my own uterus out! Anyway is that normal? None of my other friends are on it. I do prefer it over the pill because I'm annoyingly forgetful, and I'm a pansy and don't want to gain weight with the depo shot..

I couldn't even get that thing in. No matter how I placed it, it didn't feel right. So I am no help.

I am not due for my period until Saturday but I am cramping already. Bloated, my boobs hurt so bad, and cramps. Gah.

i don't remember that issues specifically with the ring, but sometimes i'm more sensitive than other times. if it continues you might think of trying something else that you don't have to take daily like implanon or an IUD. the shot didn't make me gain weight, but it's not for everyone. i loved the shot and hated implanon.

un, cervical cancer usually isn't hereditary. here's some info on it if you're interested:

I know that if you have a relative that had it you are automatically in the high risk category. For fun, you can look at your insurance paperwork and see how "high risk" tests automatically are double the price

Anyone who is sexually active is 'high risk' for HPV. If you don't have sex your don't get it. At least that is true more than 99% of the time.

No I mean, my mom had cervical cancer right around when I was born, and that puts me in the "high risk" category, even though I don't have HPV.

I did, which is why I'm annoyed my doc was the one that acted like I may get cervical cancer ANY DAY and ordered a bunch of tests my insurance didn't fully cover. Even though I've never had an abnormal pap and don't have HPV.

i told my dr, actually just a random planned parenthood dr or np not sure, a long time ago i was concerned because my mom had it when she had me. she told me that it's is almost always (i looked it up 99.7%) sexually transmitted unless i contracted it during delivery which is rare. all my personal research supports this. obviously it wouldn't show up on a pap if it was contracted during birth so i'm guessing blood test would be the only other way to test for it. i could totally see insurance not wanting to cover that since it's not part of a standard annual exam. just like i'd be surprised if ins covered for an HSV (without visible symptoms) test which isn't standard though most people assume it is.

people do die from cervical cancer so maybe your dr just wanted to make extra sure given your mom's history, though i don't think most drs go above and beyond the standard physical/annual exam procedures like blood tests for HSV ect.

i'll just add that HPV is linked to a lot of other cancers, not just cervical. oral, throat, penis, anal cancers are all linked to HPV. sucks for guys since they cannot be tested for HPV unless they have visible warts, which don't cause cancer as i understand it.

i'll have to research this a little more, this stuff fascinates me. so had you already had a pap in a 12 month period and they just didn't want to pay for more?

it's really common, honestly i'm shocked i've never had it i've always gotten my paps regularly and it's always been all good. thats why i got the vaccine, i figured it's probably just a matter of time if i didn't.

Well I wasn't going to talk about this, but I am going to see a dr next week because I may have HPV. About a year and a half ago I went a little crazy after my divorce and had a lot of unprotected sex. Now there is some weirdness going on in my girl areas. I try not to think about it until I get a diagnosis, but I know this would increase my chance of cervical cancer. I feel gross and disgusting and the only person who knows that it may be a possibility is my mom. I wish I hadn't been so stupid.

Emmie-Thank you for that link! That is good to know cuz I have been paranoid about it since I stated getting paps 10 years ago.

So I was utterly convinced I was pregnant because of cramps, boob tenderness and bloat. I took a test, it was negative, but for the past few days I've had thick discharge (clear- kinda looks like snot, but not gross looking or smelling) which appears when I first wake up, after sexytime, and sometimes just randomly during the day. I've never had this before and I'm nervous. I just got STI tested last month and had a pap and everything was normal. (I have been getting vigorously tested just in case since I found out my ex was fucking half the town before we split). I thought maybe it was kinda a period, but there's no blood. Anyone?

I'm on the Depo-shot I haven't had a period in over a year, just random spotting usually around when I would have a period. but I'm three weeks over when it *usually* would have been spotting/had a period if I still had them.

I tested positive for HPV a few months ago.. which kind of sucked, but you shouldn't feel gross OR disgusting. I freaked out when my pap was abnormal and then freaked out even more when they said it was HPV. I cried and told him I wasn't sleeping around or anything but my doctor told me that sometimes the virus will lay dormant and won't show up in tests until later, and it can happen with even one partner. He said not to worry because almost everyone develops it at some point and the main treatment is just to let your body take care of it on its own. And there are only a few strains of HPV you want to avoid, out of a ton. From my understanding, if you have the strain of HPV that causes cervical cancer, you develop it when your body doesn't get rid of the HPV. There's also a strain that causes genital warts, which grosses me out so I have him look at my vajay constantly because I'm paranoid. So far so good. Unfortunately there isn't a test that can tell you what specific strain you have.. maybe someday.
