When I got off hormonal birth control, my skin FREAKED OUT. I had bad acne for about 3-4 months. It cleared itself up, luckily. I had only been on BC for 2-3 years though, not 8. That might play a role in how long that lasts. I noticed that when on BC, I could sleep in my makeup without any problems. I could also use more harsh cleaners without irritation. I now use a natural tea tree oil soap on my face (from TJ), nothing harsh (which gives me acne). Did you pass out because of the pain or heavy bleeding? Are you sure it was related to your period?

I hope to god my face clears up after time like your's did. Even if it clears up I'll probably have to deal with scars :\

Honestly I'm not sure if I passed out from the bleeding or the cramps. I am a weakling so it could have been the pain lol. I do know I was put on BC at such a young age cause it was the same back then. Very heavy periods to the point where I would have to stay out of school and pain that made stay in the bed. My doctor at the time put me on BC and everything got better. My face was clear and I had no problems with my period. My mom told me that pretty much all the women in my family have had the same problem as me.
I love BC but I wanted to get off of it because I have heard so many problems that can happen in the future because of it. I might not have a choice but to get back on it though.

My acne has been horrible and my periods have gotten so bad that I passed out the other day. I've tried proactiv and exposed skin care for my acne and nothing is working. The only thing I really know what to use for my period is Advil. My mother thinks my hormones are not balanced but I do not want to get back on birth control. I got a supplement called pregnenolone to help put myself back in order but I'm afraid that it will only make matters worse from the reviews I've read. Does anyone know about pregnenolone or any other suggestions? I have no one to ask lol. My boyfriend is clueless, my mom is wacky, my bestfriend has never had a problem and my doctor refuses to listen to me.
Have you ever considered an endometrial ablation? My wife had probs with her periods for years ( pain, heavy bleeding, irregular periods) and hormone therapy sends her migraines into overdrive. She researched the ablation and her doc told her she was a perfect candidate for it since we don't want anymore kids. If you still want kids, obviously this isn't an option because this procedure makes the uterus an inhospitalble place for a fetus. Just a thought. It has worked for her though, no periods for three months now (procedure was in March).

my mom had endometrial ablation done because she was having 14 day cycles for a long time along with other problems and it didn't work for her at all, she had a hysterectomy a year later. i'm just sure what the statistics are on the success of that procedure, i'd hope they're better now than when she had it done.

Yeah, emmie when I researched it, it scared the shizz out of me too. I found tons of people for whom it didn't work...and few success stories. There are several different ways to do the procedure, and I think that is the major determining factor in the success of the procedure. My wife had the radiofrequency ablation, they inserted the little tool (looks like a web thingy) and applied suction, expanded the webbing, and burned the inside. It's been great for her, and very little recovery time. The next day she was back up and around. Her bff had the procedure done and was out and about the same night.

ugh ugh ugh. I think I'm going back on the pill when I get health insurance again. I CAN NOT handle these periods anymore. Also, we're going to wait until next summer to try to have a baby so I really don't want to have to deal with this for another year. I don't care if I lose my sex drive again

I wish I could do it but I'm only 21 with no kids. Once I pop out some kiddos and I'm sure to call it quits then I'm going to look into something to make it all go away. I need to just go ahead and have a bunch of kids and get it over with by the time I'm 25 lol.

I got it. And yeah, pop out a few kids. They actually won't even consider doing an ablation unless you're completely done having them. Hope you are able to feel better soon though!

I laid down at about 8:00 last night and couldn't fall asleep until 10 because I was in so much pain Even though I got 9 hours, my body is exhausted from the cramps. I'm so glad it wasn't happening at work today.

I've been on the Nuva Ring for I think over 4 yrs now. It's the only BC I can take without screwing it up. Works good for me, no weird side effects or anything that I know of.

i love nuvaring. it's expensive but worth every penny. i can't remember to take a pill on the daily and that's problematic (oh hi, miscarriage). things that may or may not happen to you: brown sludge, mood swings, a period of acne, paranoia that the fucker fell out, super light periods, super heavy periods. haha. i've experienced all sorts of things having had an on/off relationship with nuvaring for the last like, decade.

It's free for me cause I'm poor and the public health clinic enrolled me in some plan. I'm mostly worried about the acne.

Okay so last Saturday my dad got married through the church with his wife of 25 years. Since I'm the only kid he's got, I had to be in it of course..and wouldn't you know it, Friday night, I started my period. Lately, my periods have been all over the place and this time they decided to live in "Fuck off I'm gonna mess up everything you own". It was horrible. I started while we were in rehearsal in the church...awesome.

So, i was freaking out that my dress was gonna get fucked up while I was in the church, or it was gonna be a doozy and I was going to faint like some light weight.. Good old internet to the rescue. I actually slowed my period down to practically nothing for the day. Didn't know you could fuckin' do that. I don't recommend you do it, cause ya know, that shit's gotta come out for a reason, but if you *absolutely* have to - apple cider vinegar and Tylenol every 4 hours will do the trick.

i'm sorry that happened to you, i totally understand. it sucks, i hope the wedding went well. and also HUH? did you take ACV pills or drink it? dilute it? how much? i is interested.

i should have thought more about this month's plans before starting my pill. i think i'm going to skip my period this week. try that is. i have to start clinicals on thursday, around the day i should start bleeding, and that means FIVE days of WHITE scrubs, shoes, undies, socks. UGH. i hope i'm able to suppress it because being in all white is gonna freak me out.

    also it's the bfriend's bday.

I drank it. I put about an inch of tepid water and a about an a ounce of ACV in a cup and drank it with the pills. I took about 3-4 500mg tablets

I didn't really measure the apple cider vinegar. I have a huge bottle of it under my sink and use it all the time - heart burn, indigestion, etc so I'm pretty used to the taste.

ETA: If you're going to do this, get Bragg's Apple Cider vinegar. The other ones in the grocery store won't work. The bragg's is all natural.

i have it under my sink too, but just for cleaning i've never tried drinking it. i know its used for lots of stuff, i've used to to wash my hair/face, but not my insides.

do you just do that every four hours? interesting. i might have to try it just because i'm curious. did it make your period suck the next day? i've skipped cycles before and it always makes my next cycle five times worse than usual. and the usual is plenty sucky.

So it just stops your period? Did it get heavier later when you started it again?

I did it every 4 hours. I was super wigging out Friday night, so I started at like 10pm when I found it. Every 4ish hours, I would take it. Personally, for me, the next day, It was like a light period, and I was super crampy and uncomfortable. Yesterday, was just another light day... one of those days where it was kinda off and on during the day..

ETA: Before I left to the church (About noon) I doubled up with a tampon and pads. By the end of the night (about 6ish) I had removed the tampon with barely anything happening with it (at about 4ish) and when I got home about 6 - 6:30, I hadn't even spotted on the pad.
