Isn't that covered after your deductible, though? Or does it not apply? I had a $1500 deductible and a $4k procedure and still had to pay over $1500 out-of-pocket. Which I'm not paying, ever. :-D Insurance totally sucks but it's better than no insurance. Or dying. So I'd get the other ultrasound. FYI, they're $100 at PP.

I am so angry I could scream. :2angry:

Why the fuck do I pay $150.00 for insurance every month? It's basically worthless. I went to my PCP earlier in the year to get on anti depressants. He gave me a 2 week trial of effexor and I felt like it worked really well. When I tried to fill the prescription, I was told that my insurance wouldn't cover it. My doctor fought with them saying that he had tried me on other things in the past and they hadn't worked. (he had, although it had been a few years prior). They still wouldn't approve the prescription and then on top of that, I got a bill from the dr's office because my insurance wouldn't cover the 2 visits I made to the office because they said it was for a prior condition (since my dr had told them he'd tried me on other medicines in the past and I switched insurances last year). So there went $200 down the drain to my PCP with no results.

A few months ago my gyno thought I might have PCOS. She sent me for some blood work and then sent me for a transvaginal ultrasound. After I had the bloodwork done, I got a bill in the mail for $175. When I called my insurance company, they told me blood work wouldn't be covered until I met my $750 deductible. So there went another $175.

Yesterday, I got a bill from the place where I had my ultrasound. $500. I haven't called about it yet (quite frankly I don't feel like dealing with it today) but I'm sure they're going to tell me fuck you, it's your fucking problem. My gyno wants me to have another ultrasound before I have my cyst removed. Fuck that. I don't have another $500. I don't have the first $500 for fucks sake.

Ugh I'm just so frustrated. So far I've paid $1,500.00 in insurance premiums this year and it seems like I've gotten nothing out of it. FML.

    tl;dr
I think I have PCOS but I'm scared to go find out. I live with my fiance a state away from where my parents live & now have to go find a new doctor. But I'm scared that they'll make me go for these crazy tests and stuff that I have no idea are covered or not because the insurance is my mom's. I know the doctor's visit is just a copay but I'm unsure about everything else.

The 2nd ultra sound will probably be covered after my deductible is met. However, a new year and a new deductible starts in January and I doubt they'll be able to remove my cyst by then. Also, I'm not sure insurance is better than no insurance. You get fucked either way. Yes, I'm very negative and woe is me today. I'm currently drowning my sorrows in some Wendy's.

They'll just make you go for an ultrasound. Luckily I don't have it, but when they were doing the ultrasound they did find a dermoid cyst that I have to have removed so my body does actually hate me.

My advice would be to get on it now so you have a chance of having it removed before January.

    And Wendy's cures all.

I hope the insurance company doesn't make it a pain in the ass to get removed. I'd start yelling so things could get done or fixed.

They won't let me go for the 2nd ultrasound until November.

It's really not causing me any problems now anyway. I guess it could be a problem if I got pregnant though. It could twist or something and that's bad. Not really sure how a cyst twists but it sounds kinda catchy. :D

That's crazy! I went to the doc back in May and found out I had a dermoid cyst. I had surgery to have it removed in June. And I don't have insurance. You should be able to get it removed before January. From experience, I highly suggest you have it removed ASAP. It may not be bothering you now, but wait. That shit hurts!  :x

I'll call the doctor and tell her I need the ultrasound done sooner. As long as it's gonna be covered. If there's some kind of loophole I'm not doing it. They can just remove that shit, sans 2nd ulstrasound.

If I'm gonna have to pay the $500 anyway, I really want to get the cyst removed before the beginning of the year.
Just a few days back, I actually started bleeding heavy enough that I thought I was getting my period super early. It was only for a day then gone. Right around the time I'd be ovulating, assuming I still ovulate since I have PCOS and am supposedly infertile now. Not willing to test their theory, though.

why do you have to wait so long for the ultrasound?  is it because thats their next available appointment?  if so, you can ask the ultrasound place if they can put you on the cancellation list...that way if someone cancels an appointment, you can go in their place.  also, you can always go to the ER and say you're in pain...and get the study done asap.  :-P

Ok, so I went and had an ultrasound done on my cyst today. They said it's the size of a baseball and has doubled in size since I was in the hospital 4/28. My doctor asked if I'd thought about having a hysterectomy :( There is no way I can make a decision like that. I mean I don't want kids now, but I know that I eventually want another baby. Hopefully they can just take out my IUD and maybe the birth control will regulate things.

I don't know much about cysts. Did the birth control cause the cyst?

    I guess it's possible.

More than 10% of Mirena users may experience:

Cyst on the ovary. These cysts may develop as long Mirena is in place. They are generally harmless and usually disappear in a month or two. However, cysts can cause pain and may sometimes require surgery.
    http://www.mirena-us.com/mirena_righ...ith_mirena.jsp

Other girls developed cysts from the Mirena:
