I loved the Norplant while I had it. It was easy and I never had to think about birth control. I kept it for the full 5 years. Now, the insertion was a piece of cake to me, but the removal was terrible! The tubes had adhesions (scar tissue) attached to them. All of that tissue had to be snip snipped little by little until all of the tubes were free. The entire upper arm was black and blue for weeks!
Aaaaaannnnnndddddd...to top it off. A year later I had to have laser hair removal because I started to grow coarse hair on my chin. I was 24. :| It was directly related to the hormones in the Norplant. Not sure what hormones are in the new version though. I dont think any doctors in this area offer it.
