The probiotic in the yogurt that helps with yeast infections is called acidophilus. You can buy it in pill form and take that instead of eating yogurt with live cultures. Not all yogurts have it in them so check the labels carefully.

Or if I were you I'd try another dose of Diflucan. More than likely you needed a stronger dose. That's all. I've had two yeast infections my entire life because of antibiotics. Both times it was cured with diflucan within 5 days after I took the antibiotic.

also, yeah... make sure you dont have sex for a week after you take diflucan or until the signs and symptoms are completely gone. Use condoms for a week after, and make sure your boyfriend/lover/whoever doesnt have it, too. Then it'd be an endless cycle of passing it to each other over and over.

I put the patch on anyway. It's been 2 days and so far I still feel pretty normal. Well, other than my daughter asking me why there is a bandaid on my butt! I figure I will give it a shit, because I can just get it and not have to see a doc. I have the "in" with that and really do NOT want to sit around the VA Hospital for 4 hours to get a nuva ring.

However, if I decide to hate the patch, I will suck it up and make an appt. with them.

What you get from yogurt is a thing called probiotics.  The one that is most helpful is acidophilus.  You don't have to eat yogurt to get probiotics, however.  You can by them in pill or powder form from health food stores and pharmacies.  You can even get them at Fred Meyer, if you have it where you are.  They can be expensive, though, so if you're on a budget, you might want to stick with yogurt.  (As an aside, you'll find probiotics in the refrigerated section.)
And take the usual multivitamins and stuff, and make sure you get lots of Vitamin C in particular - especially if you're under more stress than usual. The stronger your immune system, the less likely you are to get a yeast infection.

Does anyone else have problems with yeast infections?
I tried the over the counter Monistat...
then my doctor did the pap smear on me and confirmed it was a yeast infection and he prescribed me one pill for it.
I took that and I still have it...
now he prescribed me a vaginal cream.
Has anyone had trouble getting rid of yeast infections?
I thought they would be easy to cure, but I'm having troubles here.
Do you exercise a lot?  I get them all the time and my doctor says they are from running/exercising.  I deal with them by taking Monistat when needed and just trying to keep as clean as possible down there.  I never wear thongs anymore either unless I am wearing a dress or something and you can see lines...

Hey Ladies, an interesting site to read first hand experiences with lots and lots of meds -

www.medications.com

I was trying to research the cost of Mirena with my insurance, and this site came up with lots of nasty reviews and side effects of Mirena, definitely making me wonder. Though, there are also lots of nasty reviews for Yasmin, which I've had great success with.
Ohhh, thanks for this site.  I've been getting off of Effexor and Buspar.  I'm using Seroquel for a couple weeks to get off of it, and I've been wanting to read about it.

So far so good using the seroquel though to get off of the antidepressants.  Man, I thought half my symptoms I have coorealated with my period, but no...my meds that were supposed to make me feel better, just made me feel worse.  I feel like a hundred bucks coming off of it.  And after dropping the BuSpar completely, my libido came back.  I'd missed it  8-)

this might have been posted already.. but also, do you take baths?  Sometimes taking baths instead of showers can trigger them...especially around the time of your period.

And douches are not your friend. They cause UTIs, bacterial infections, and yeast infections. NEVER douche. Wash with water only (no soap).

I wanted to shake ladies at the office I worked at. "Well, I started feeling a little itchy, so I used a douche, and it only got worse." Dumb bitch!! We told you LAST time not to use those atrocious things!!!

BI's are very easy to get rid of with the right antibiotics.  I hope you feel better  :-)

Me neither. My mother told me from the door, there is no need to disturb the natural way of your body. I believe that 100% and I have NEVER had a yeast infection.

I've taken that stuff before. I've only had an infection once. That stuff was gross but it worked AWESOME. is it in a tube that you have to insert everyday? My stuff came in three disposable tubes.

I had a three day one. Maybe mine was a yeast infection. It sucked bc I was on antibiotics and got a yeast infection, which I guess is REALLY common. I wish the doctor would have told me that was what I had.

I still think bladder infections hurt way worse than yeast infections.

OMG no urinary tract infections are the worst.  I'm prone to them and have had them since I was 12, constantly.  ughhhh worst pain ever.

I had a bladder infection once and I didn't even know I had it. I've heard UTIs are worse though.
My 17 year old daughter just had her first UTI. Oh I was so proud of her.  It brought a tear to my eye

Just kidding.

She called me hourly from work telling me she couldn't pee, it hurt, etc, etc.
I told her to drink cranberry juice until I could get her to the Dr.
Sure enough she had one. Got her on meds and cleared that up ASAP.

ughughugh.

i had to go to the er before because i was peeing blood and thought i was dying.  they ended up giving me painkillers and an IV.  i guess it got out of control, since i never had one before that and didn't notice the subtle signs.  worst pain ever.  i would give birth again over that shiz.

I met a gal last summer who douched after every period.  I went into her bathroom cupboard thing to get a towel...I shit you not, there was a couple years supply in there.  So, I kidded her about it, saying if a hurricane/tornado whatever affected KY that she'd have the cleanest puss around   She thought it was strange that I didn't douche after a period.

I dunno, blood isn't dirty to me..and water cleans it fine.  If you're still rank after water, you need to get your puss looked at, stat!  :2shocked:

ETA: Never ever use scented tampons!  That's what gave me the biggest UTI I ever had.  Almost had to get another round of antibiotics to get rid of it.  Normally I don't use them, but I was caught with just a sample pack that came in the mail at my in-laws...yeah, I can't even LOOK at them anymore.  I would rather give birth 20 times the same day than experience that.  It was like pissing shards of glass, and the glass got stuck. *shivers*

yep

My first UTI I went almost 2 weeks before I saw a doctor because I couldn't afford the $25 copay. :| By that time I had a UTI, kidney, and bladder infection. To say I was pissing razor blades would be a euphemism at the very least.
